Y/N's POV
"But si—" I started to speak, but he walked over to my side and leaned in, his face dangerously close to mine.
Kayden: "You can say my name now, Y/N… We're out of the office." He smirked, his eyes glinting with mischief.
'Oh…' My cheeks heated up, and I quickly looked away.
"O-okay… Kayden." I murmured shyly.
He smiled, clearly amused by my reaction, and then reached for my hand.
Kayden: "Then let's go. I don't want you fainting again… Though, if you do, I guess I'll just have to carry you. Not that I'd mind." He winked, making my heart race.
I laughed nervously at his teasing. "No, I'd rather eat food than embarrass myself again."
Kayden chuckled and gently pulled me out of the car. We walked into the restaurant, where a well-dressed man—probably the manager—greeted us warmly and showed us to our seats.
After scanning the menu, my stomach dropped. 'Everything is way too expensive… I should pick the cheapest dish…' But as I kept looking, I realized even the lowest-priced meal was beyond my budget.
Kayden must have noticed my hesitation because he spoke up.
Kayden: "Hmm… We'll have the same dish."
I sighed in relief, but when I glanced at what he ordered, my eyes widened. 'Oh my God… I don't have the money for this!' My throat went dry, and I started sweating.
Kayden: Frowning "Y/N, are you okay? You're sweating too much."
I quickly touched my forehead. He was right—I was sweating because of how out of place I felt here. 'Why did I even agree to come?'
"A-I… Yes! It's just… hot in here." I forced a smile, hoping he'd drop the subject.
Kayden: Raising an eyebrow "No, Y/N. The air conditioner is on… I think your blood pressure is still low. You should take off your jacket."
My heart skipped a beat. "Oh no! I-I'm fine!"
Kayden: Skeptical "But—"
"I'm fine, Kayden!" I said quickly, gripping my jacket tightly. I didn't want him to see my backless dress.
He sighed but didn't push further. A few minutes later, our food arrived. As soon as I took my first bite, I couldn't help but let out a satisfied hum.
Kayden: Smirking "Hmm… so you like it?"
I nodded eagerly like a child, making him chuckle. After finishing our meal, he stood up.
Kayden: "Let's go, Y/N."
I hesitated. "But… what about the payment?"
Kayden: "Ah, don't worry about that." He leaned back casually. "This is one of our restaurants. We own it."
My jaw dropped. "WHAT?!"
Kayden laughed at my stunned expression.
Kayden: "Come on, let's go."
He grabbed my hand again, and before I knew it, we were heading toward a massive shopping mall. Kayden made a quick phone call, then turned to me.
Kayden: "Let's go."
Once inside, a well-dressed man approached us with a bright smile.
???: "Good afternoon, sir! Welcome, ma'am!" He bowed slightly.
"Thank you," I replied politely.
Kayden: "Take us to the ladies' shoe section."
I blinked at him in confusion. "Kayden… what is this?"
Kayden: Crossing his arms "Y/N, do you want to keep falling again and again? I can't always be there to catch you."
I sighed. "But—"
???: Gesturing "Mr. Scott, we have some gorgeous heels for this gorgeous lady."
Kayden: "No, we need flats for her."
The manager nodded and instructed a sales assistant to bring several boxes. She returned with a stack of them and set them down. Just as the manager reached to help me try them on, Kayden stepped in.
Kayden: "Stop. I'll take care of this."
My eyes widened. 'What is he talking about?!'
Before I could protest, Kayden bent down and took my foot in his hands.
"Kayden, what are you doing? Don't worry, I can—"
Kayden: Smiling up at me "It's okay, Y/N."
He gently slipped off my heels and helped me into a pair of comfortable flats. Then, he examined my feet and asked,
Kayden: "Do you have glass shoes?"
Manager: "Oh! Yes, Mr. Scott! Let me get them."
The manager handed him a sleek box. Kayden opened it, revealing the most beautiful shoes I had ever seen. My breath hitched as he carefully helped me put them on.
Kayden: Smiling "Beautiful. Y/N, are they comfortable?"
I nodded, too stunned to speak.
Kayden: "Try walking."
He offered his hand like a prince, and I hesitantly took it. As I walked, I felt like a princess.
"Wow… these are so beautiful! How much do they cost?"
The manager chuckled.
Manager: "Hahaha! Ma'am, don't worry. It's a gift."
My eyes widened. "What? No! I can't accept them for free!"
Kayden: "Then I'll pay for you, Y/N."
"WHAT?! No way! You've already done too much for me. I feel bad enough as it is."
Kayden simply smiled.
Kayden: "Y/N, I told you—I'll take care of you. Please, let me buy them for you. If it makes you feel better, you can pay me back later."
I sighed, knowing he wouldn't take no for an answer.
"Fine… But I promise I'll pay you back."
We packed up my old heels and headed to the parking lot. Just as we stepped outside, heavy rain began to pour.
Kayden: Surprised "Oh no! Y/N, come here!"
He quickly took off his jacket and held it over both our heads, shielding us from the rain. Our faces were close—too close. My heart pounded as I looked up at him.
Kayden: Grinning "Let's run, Y/N!"
I nodded, and we sprinted to the car. It felt like a scene from a romantic movie, laughter mixing with the sound of rain. Once inside, we were still breathless from running.
Kayden: Laughing "Wow, that was fun, right?"
I giggled. "Yeah."
Kayden: "Take off your jacket, Y/N, or you might catch a cold."
I hesitated, then slowly removed it—only to remember the dress I was wearing. My face turned bright red.
I turned to Kayden, only to find him staring. His mouth had fallen open, and his eyes were wide.
Kayden: Completely speechless 😳
