Chapter eight:
I stood back to back with Batman holding off the Hierarchy. There was so many of them now, and showed no signs of closing the portal. A Hierarchy shot Batman in the leg, and he fell down. I picked up his bat rangs and ran towards the Hierarchy, before knocking it unconscious. I then jumped off a car, and threw Batman's bat rangs at another. I then caught his bat rangs as they bounced back to me.
"I can close the portal." Dinah Lance said, straining.
"Do it!" Bruce Wayne and I both said at the same time.
"No, wait." Replied Clark Kent.
"Clark, these things are still coming. We're hopelessly outnumbered." I said.
"I got a nuclear bomb come in. It's gonna blow up in less than a minute. And I know just where to put it." Replied Clark Kent.
"Clark, you know that's a one way trip." Bruce Wayne said. Clark didn't reply, but less than 30 seconds later, he came flying overhead with a nuclear bomb above him. He turned up towards the portal, and increased in speed. He disappeared through the portal, and all the Hierarchy around us started powering down.
"He made the sacrifice play." I said quietly to myself. The beam coming from Wayne tower powered down, and the portal closed. It was quiet for a while, but the silence was broken when we noticed a figure falling from the sky.
"Son of a gun." Bruce Wayne said. Martian Manhunter jumped and grabbed Clark Kent out of the sky. He then tumbled down a building, and crashed landed near Diana Prince, Bruce Wayne, and I. We all ran towards them.
"Is he still breathing?" Bruce Wayne said. Martian Manhunter then roared, and Clark Kent woke up gasping, which made Martian Manhunter roar louder.
"What the hell. What just happened?" Clark Kent said. I then fell to the floor, and smiled to myself.
"We won, Clark. We won." I said.
"Alright, yay! Hurray, good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's take a day off. Have you ever tried sushi? There's a sushi joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is. But I wanna try it." Said Clark Kent.
"We're not done yet." Replied Wonder Woman while looking at Wayne tower.
"And then sushi after?" Clark Kent said.
We were all in Wayne tower, recovering from the huge battle. I reached in my pocket, and pulled my phone out. It was dusty, but somehow it hadn't broken. I called my mom as Dinah Lance turned the TV on.
"Mom?" I said.
"Travis. You're alright, thank goodness. I turned the TV on, and saw the news of an alien invasion in Metropolis." She replied.
"Yep, I wasn't lying." I joked whilst laughing. "Did you hear that?" The extraordinary heroics of the group known as the Justice League. "Heroic. I'm apart of the Justice League." I said happily. Dinah Lance heard this and smiled at me.
"Yes, I'm very proud of you. But, you have a lot of explaining to do when you get home." My mom replied.
"Oh, about that. I'll be staying here for a little bit, with the others. I'll let you know when I'm coming around though." I said.
"Alright, be careful, and stay safe. I love you, son." She replied.
"I love you too, mom." I then hung up my phone and put it on the counter. "Make me a cup of coffee, Lance." I said.
"How old are you?" Black Canary asked.
"16." I replied and she looked at me quizzically, but poured me a small cup of coffee.
"Here you go kid." Said Dinah Lance as she handed me the cup of coffee.
"Thanks." I replied before drinking it down quickly.
