Chapter nine:
I was running on the treadmill, specifically designed by Bruce Wayne to keep up with my super speed. It also recorded my top speed, an average speed throughout my workout. What would normally be a loud thudding and running on the treadmill, was replaced by a rapid pitter patter with a quiet, high pitched whistle. I looked down at the speedometer, waiting desperately for it to change from the speed of sound to the speed of light.
I had spent the last 3 years training, and trying to get faster. 3 years ago I could run faster than the speed of sound. Now, in 2015 I can run faster than the speed of light. The speedometer ticked over to 671 million miles per hour speed wise, and I slowed down. I had previously believed that I could only run at super speed, but after 3 years, I learned to control my speed. So, I can control when I speed up, and how fast I run. I slowed down, and came to a halt, as Diana Prince came into the gym.
"How fast was that?" She asked me.
"As fast as the speed of light. My new personal best. But it could be because of my connection to the speed force." I replied and she looked at me impressed. "In the last three years, I've increased my speed by a lot." I said.
"Well, hard work pays off." Wonder Woman said as she took her jumper off. "You ready for a few rounds?" She asked me.
"I'm always ready, Prince." I replied and got in the ring, and started to warm up. Diana Prince walked over to me.
"So, do you run fast permanently or can you decide when you run fast?" Wonder Woman asked me while punching me in the chest.
"I used to believe that, but now I can control it." I said as I slid under her arm. Diana Prince then turned around, and went for my face. I grabbed her hand before she even turned around properly.
"The reflexes they come naturally." Wonder Woman grinned at me before swiping her legs, and causing me to fall on my back.
"You didn't see that coming." Said Diana Prince.
We trained for a while, and stopped when Wonder Woman had my head between her thighs. I tapped her leg repeatedly, and she let go of me.
"Jesus, what are your thighs made of?" I asked her while regaining my breath.
"Wouldn't you like to know. Your fighting is getting better." She replied while drinking some water.
"Oracle in five minutes, run a cold shower in my room." I said.
"Okay, sir." Replied Oracle.
"A cold shower?" Wonder Woman asked, almost disgusted at me.
"Yeah, it helps me stimulate the nerves, you know? You should try it." I replied.
I entered my room, and heard the shower start up. I'm
"Ah, thank God for technology." I stripped and threw my clothes on my bed, and got in the shower. The cold water burned my aching muscles, but damn did it feel good. My abs were killing me from the amount of kicking Wonder Woman did.
"Sir, Clark Kent would like to see you in the briefing room." Said Oracle.
"Tell him I'm showering." I replied.
"Sir, it's about your mission to Central City." Said Oracle.
"Fine." I got out of the shower, and dried myself with my super speed. I then put on some clothes and walked to the briefing room.
"Travis glad you arrived." Clark Kent said and I smiled at him.
"Professor Anthony Ivo is in Central City and we believe that Ares's spear is there. It's unknown what the facility is used for, but rumor is that he does tests and experiments on other humans. Our goal is to retrieve the spear, and if we can, bring Professor Anthony Ivo back. We go in 30 minutes. So suit up." Said Clark Kent and we all went to our rooms. My suit hadn't changed since Metropolis. I just had a complicated wrist watch that could be used to transfer files and information. It also had a radar on it that helped me locate the other Justice League members in combat.
I ran next to Batman, who was riding in his bat mobile. I veered left, and headed towards one of the bunkers. I dodged the bullets coming from the Lexcorp agents. Sliding past them, I engaged in combat with them, and disarmed one of them while using his own gun against him.
"I'm done with my bunker. Are there any spares?" I asked.
"I could use some help." Replied Oliver Queen, whilst grunting. I looked at my radar, and ran towards the green dot. Each of the Justice League members had a different dot. Clark Kent was blue, Bruce Wayne was gray, Oliver Queen was green, Dinah Lance was black, Billy Baston was white, and Diana Prince was red.
"Good to see you Apollo." I said.
"He was a god, so I'll take it." Replied Green Arrow.
"Shit!" Bruce Wayne exclaimed, as he drove into the energy barrier surrounding the Lexcorp facility.
"Watch your language!" Clark Kent exclaimed.
"I think we lost the element of surprise." Green Arrow said. I then ran, and threw one of Green Arrow's arrows straight through the Lexcorp agent.
"Wait a second. No one is going to deal with the fact that Superman just said language?" Batman asked.
"I know." Replied Superman and their was a loud explosion from his side. I ran through Central City, while knocking out Lexcorp agents. It felt so much better now that I knew how to use my powers.
"We have an enhanced in the field." Clark Kent said. "Wayne, we need to get inside."
"The drawbridge is down, people. Future Flash, I want you in the building. See if you can get information on anything." Said Clark Kent.
"Give me approximately seven seconds." I replied and ran to meet up with Bruce Wayne. He then removed his helmet.
"I'm going to secure the spear, you need to secure information. Whether it be on the enhanced or Lexcorp secret plans. Just don't take so long." Said Bruce Wayne and I nodded as he put his helmet back on and walked away. I then ran inside of the building, throwing Lexcorp agents at each other. I then stopped in a corridor, and saw a light coming from one of the rooms. I went into it, and there was a computer in the middle.
"Bruce, I believe I found the main computer." I said.
"Good. Get the information, and copy it for Hawkgirl at HQ." He replied and I walked up to the computer and connected a wire to it from my radar. I went through the computer to find anything of use.
"Jesse Quick, and Caitlin Snow. Thermokinetic Cryokinesis and the Speed Force." I said to myself, and continued reading the file. "Super speed, phasing, and energy absorption. Oracle, send these files to Hawkgirl." I said.
"You shouldn't be here." Someone said from behind me. I slowly turned around, and saw a stunning dark haired girl standing there. Her hands had a red glow.
"You must be Jesse Quick. I'm Travis LaRowe." I said.
"I don't care." She shot a bolt of red electricity at me, but I ducked.
"Oh, you will. Oracle, percentage?" I said quietly.
"70%, sir." I took the device off, and walked around Jesse Quick, who shot some of her red electricity at me.
"Jesse, I don't want to hurt you. You and I share the same super speed. We could bond over it, and we don't have to be enemies." I said and she shot at me again. "Or not."
"How do you know about me and Caitlin Snow?" Said Jesse Quick.
"Transfer complete, sir." Replied Oracle.
"Okay, self destruct!" I said and ran to Jesse Quick, while pushing her out of the way of the blast radius. I then ran out of the building.
"Bruce, I got the information on two enhanced. I sent it to Hawkgirl. What's the progress on the spear?" I said.
"I'm working on it. And good job Travis." Bruce Wayne said and I heard him fighting someone in the background as he said. "No it wasn't."
