A five-kilometer run across the field was something that wasn't anticipated by anyone, combined with the eighty squats – their legs weren't having it good. Ryan sat on the ground and rested his back against the wooden fence of the field. His breathing seemed to have returned to normal in just a few minutes, but his heart wasn't. It kept beating fast, his blood vessels enlarged and constricted simultaneously. "Fuck, I came in fourth even after all that effort," he cursed, grabbing his head in disappointment. Sweat dripped down his whole body; his long hair was soaked in sweat, and his eyes were dim.
Reina and Claire looked at him solemnly. Compared to the closeness between the sisters, Ryan and Klaus were always like two sides of a blade, with the former always looking up to the latter. "Never thought that you girls would make it to the finish line faster than we did," Vincent commended in admiration. He and Oscar had always trained to improve speed and stamina and had even gone for such training twice before this; in the end, they still ended up behind the two siblings. "Well, you guys aren't that bad yourselves. I mean, I could have sworn that you guys had almost caught up with us," Claire smiled, still looking at Ryan.
Rein walked up to him and sat beside him, placing her arm over his neck. "You did well, but don't overdo it if you still want to continue in the next training," she paused, looking at his clenched fist. "It's only a matter of time before we're allowed to look for him." Ryan nodded at her words of comfort, to which his sad, gloomy face disappeared. Julius cleared his throat to get the attention of the trainees.
Beside him were farm tools, which consisted of a rake and a hoe. The next phase of the training was more like using them as laborers on a farm field. Their eyes grew dread at the realization of this; many had already begun to have thoughts of pulling out of such training, but it wasn't like they had an option. "Yup, it's just like you're all thinking, the next phase would be labor work. To blend in with a place, you all have to pick up certain skills, and since we're thinking of molding you all into a new breed of agents with legal identities, this is the most that can be done," Julius explained. Many were already grumbling at this. They had all spent over four hours running, with only a 20-minute break without food or water, and now they were about to do manual work just for the purpose of creating a new identity.
"Could we at least get some food and water before we proceed?" Yunlin asked, worried about collapsing in the middle of the next phase. "Clear about 324 square meters first, then you can have a meal," Julius smiled. Julius unloaded a total of ten tools, out of which five were hoes and four were rakes. He then left after dropping off the farm tools.
Skara, who was already frustrated to the peak, began to lament. "How's this any different from slavery? This is a dark culture in training," he cried, literally having tears fall from his eyes. He wasn't so old, given that he was just twenty-two, but his mental state couldn't bear this any longer. Just like any human with no superhuman ability would feel, he was very much devastated.
Others also shared a similar thought with him,but compared to what most of them had gone through before joining the Mace institute, it was still something they could endure.
[Livonia Michigan at Dickson Vermont Estate,Detroit; Grishile]
The military vehicle, along with a military ambulance, arrived and was neatly parked in front of the Grishile building. Dr. Maru stood at the entrance of the building, anxiously, as she was still too worried about her student's situation. "Start moving, now," Gordon ordered, stepping out of the military ambulance with a stern face. He, along with the other two female doctors, carefully lifted the unconscious Rose from the ambulance. The sight of the girl sent shivers to all the guards who were nearby and even the soldiers who brought her, were spared if such a sight of horror.
They didn't clearly see her when they were loading her into the truck, since it was already late at night, and it was Gordon and the nurses who took care of that. They pushed the stretcher closer in the direction of Dr. Mia, not so confident in their steps. "We are sorry we took late, ma'am, but the situation was a lot more critical," Gordon reported with a salute. Dr. Maru just nodded and commanded Gordon to step back, insisting that she and the nurses would take it from there. The guards at Grishile couldn't imagine them being in such conditions and still being alive; just the sight of it was enough to make one wish they wouldn't exist.
They pushed the stretcher through the elevator which was near and moved to another floor in which they later took a detour to another elevator which was hidden behind a wall beside the one they had just come out from which was revealed by the insertion of a certain card.
" How much time do we have before she regains consciousness" Dr Maru asked looking at rose anxiously.
" An hour more " the other female doctor who hadn't spoken since arrival said. She too was anxious but more than anxious there was fear written all over her face.
The elevator open and the were welcomed with a sight of a room The room is spacious and well-lit, with a high ceiling. The walls were painted a soothing light blue, and the floor is covered with polished white linoleum
The room is designed to provide a safe, efficient, and effective environment for patient care, with a focus on surgical procedures and anatomical study.
"Place her on the operating table" Dr Maru order as she geared her self up for surgery. She then requested for an extra professional to help while dabbling several blood samples which she had gotten from the imprisoned ability users she was operating on.
