"Hahahaha, what's wrong, beautiful lady? Why aren't you fighting anymore?"
Zane looked at the Crimson Witch with a playful smile, a teasing expression on his face. He was clearly mocking her.
"I can't go on. I'm too tired. I can't fight anymore," the Crimson Witch said, gasping for breath, clearly exhausted.
"Hahahaha, does being too tired to fight mean you're admitting defeat?" Zane asked with a provocative tone. If it were anyone else, they would feel insulted by his words. But after battling for so long without breaking the invisible barrier, the Crimson Witch reluctantly accepted the situation.
"Fine, let's consider this sparring match my loss. But I find it strange—why does my body suddenly feel so powerful? It feels as if many versions of myself have merged into one. This sensation is simply incredible," the Crimson Witch murmured to herself as she looked at her hands, confused and uncertain about the sudden surge in her strength.
"It's not just your power that's increased. Mine has grown stronger too. This is an extremely significant matter, and we must investigate it thoroughly. If we don't, the consequences could be disastrous," Zane said seriously, his brow furrowing. Though he was usually a carefree man, he could be surprisingly serious when necessary.
"Zane, could it be that all mutants are experiencing something similar to me?" the Crimson Witch asked, her tone filled with doubt. This was just a hypothesis, and further investigation would be needed to confirm it.
"It's highly possible. If all mutants are experiencing a similar power boost, it would be a troublesome situation," Zane replied solemnly. Mutants were already incredibly powerful. If their abilities were enhanced further, they would become even more formidable. If any of them decided to misuse their powers, there would be no one capable of stopping them.
The problem Zane faced was indeed a challenging one. The root cause of this phenomenon needed to be identified. If not addressed promptly, it could lead to widespread chaos, plunging the Earth into another disaster—something Zane neither wanted to see nor accept.
Zane and the Crimson Witch returned to the house. Just as they entered, they saw a news broadcast on the TV. The report showed a mutant causing destruction in a city.
Upon seeing the news, Zane frowned deeply. He thought these mutants were becoming far too audacious, daring to wreak havoc so openly. Did they think the world would simply turn a blind eye?
"This guy has gone too far," Zane said seriously, his expression grave. He felt these mutants were becoming increasingly reckless and lawless.
"I know this mutant. His strength wasn't anywhere near this level before. Why has he suddenly become so powerful?" the Crimson Witch said, her brow furrowing deeply. She was puzzled because, as far as she remembered, this mutant had always been relatively weak.
"You know him? What kind of person is he? Does he usually go around causing trouble?" Zane asked, his curiosity piqued. He doubted this mutant had ever been a decent individual. Otherwise, why would he now resort to harming others?
"This guy is actually decent. He's not the type to hurt people. But today, seeing him like this, I'm really confused. What could have caused such a change?" the Crimson Witch replied seriously. She felt there was something deeply wrong with the situation and knew they needed to come up with a solution.
"That is strange. If he's usually a good person, why would he destroy the city? It doesn't make sense!" Zane said, frowning as he tried to make sense of the situation. He even began to doubt the Crimson Witch's assessment of the mutant's character.
"Zane, what we should focus on is why his strength has grown so drastically. Based on what I know of him, his abilities should be weak. There's no way he could be this powerful!" The Crimson Witch's brow furrowed as she voiced her suspicion, sensing that this might be a critical clue.
Zane and the Crimson Witch exchanged a glance. In their eyes was a shared look of alarm, as both of them seemed to arrive at the same unsettling conclusion. The thought alone left them feeling anxious and uneasy.
"Could it be? Is something like this really happening?"
Zane asked the Crimson Witch in shock, his heart pounding with anxiety. This was an incredibly unsettling situation for him, leaving him feeling utterly distressed. The mere thought of such a possibility was terrifying, a scenario so unnerving it consumed his mind with worry.
"It's highly likely. I can clearly feel that my strength has increased. At the same time, my temper has grown significantly worse. Now, I feel like getting angry over the smallest things and even have the urge to fight others for no reason. Maybe that's why these mutants with enhanced powers are causing destruction everywhere," the Crimson Witch explained, sharing her perspective.
Zane inhaled sharply as he listened, realizing her words made a lot of sense. If this was true, the implications were terrifying.
"Do you think this power boost is just an isolated phenomenon, or is it happening to all mutants?" Zane asked, hoping to get her opinion.
"I think it's very likely that every mutant's powers have been enhanced," the Crimson Witch replied seriously, her brows furrowing. Her statement sent another wave of unease through Zane, who let out another sharp breath. This was far from good news.
"If every mutant's powers have increased and their tempers have worsened, what will they do next? Could they end up wreaking havoc on the world? If they join forces to cause destruction, it will be a massive problem," Zane said, his brows tightly knit.
Only moments ago, his mind had been wandering toward playful thoughts involving the Crimson Witch, but now he was entirely focused on the gravity of the situation. A pressing issue had arisen, and it demanded his immediate attention. Ignoring it was simply not an option.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion not far from where they were. The sound was deafening, shaking the ground beneath them. Zane's expression turned to one of confusion and concern.
"What the hell just happened?" Zane asked in frustration, uncertain of the cause. However, his instincts told him that this was no minor incident. He strongly suspected it had something to do with the mutants.
