A smile was plastered on Eleanor's face as she came out of the kitchen with a tray containing three cups of tea.
"I should come help you, Mom," Grace said as she made to rise foron where she was sitting with Jace on the couch."
"There's no need. You can't leave the guest alone," Eleanor objected and went back into the kitchen and returned with a plate of cookies which she placed beside the tea on the small center table, then took her seat across from her daughter and studied her closely.
It had only been two days since they last spoke on the phone, and Grace hadn't mentioned anything about visiting.
And now, here she was—unannounced and also bringing a man she had never seen before.
