Chapter 264 - Eyes!?

Chapter 264 - Eyes!?

Not only Bete but even Finn froze, staring at the figure on the battlefield in stunned silence.

Neither had anticipated Mahiro emerging unscathed from that combined assault.

"Captain..." Tione smirked, glancing at Finn.

"Are we still rescuing him?"

"What just happened?" Lefiya faltered mid-chant, her staff still half-raised, her face etched with bewilderment as she fixated on Mahiro.

Yes—what had happened?

That question echoed in everyone's mind.

Over a dozen flames had merged into a massive fireball—an attack potent enough to incinerate the surroundings if it struck the ground.

Yet, it had vanished without a trace just before impact, its immense energy dissipating mysteriously.

The only explanation lay with Mahiro himself.

Lili, observing the Loki Familia's reactions, felt a surge of smug satisfaction—especially seeing Bete's contorted expression.

'Mock Mahiro-sama all you want—look who's stunned now!' she thought.

Mahiro didn't need their help; he could wipe out the horde alone.

She kept her glee internal, though, not daring to voice it aloud.

"Don't bother guessing—it's those eyes!" Bete growled through gritted teeth, his gaze locked on Mahiro.

His shock carried a bitter edge of resentment.

Moments ago, he'd scoffed at Mahiro's recklessness, ready to swoop in with a condescending rescue.

Now, Mahiro had turned the tables, proving he needed no aid—the deadly attack hadn't even scratched him.

"Without those eyes, he'd never have walked away from that unscathed," Bete insisted.

"Wait—Mahiro's eyes changed color!" Tiona exclaimed, peering at Mahiro with fascination, zeroing in on his gaze.

As a high class adventurer, her eyesight was sharp, though not on par with Bete's werewolf senses.

Prompted by his comment, she focused harder and caught the shift in Mahiro's eyes.

The others soon noticed too.

"Those eyes..." Ais stared intently, her golden eyes widening as faint ripples of emotion stirred within them.

"Have you noticed? His speed's picked up," Tione observed, her tone laced with surprise.

After enduring the wyverns combined attack, Mahiro wasn't just unharmed—he was faster.

"My earlier worries were pointless," Finn said with a wry smile.

He'd predicted Mahiro's stamina would falter, but instead, the longer he fought, the fiercer he became.

"We'll wait here. I'm eager to meet this extraordinary adventurer in person."

With the captain's decision made, no one objected.

Compared to their tedious march, watching Mahiro carve through the monster horde like a performer—crushing foes and steadily thinning their ranks—was a spectacle.

It was something they wouldn't dare attempt themselves, yet seeing him pull it off was exhilarating.

As Mahiro used Mystic Eyes of Distortion, especially after absorbing the Level 3 wyverns' mana, his physical prowess soared.

Using a monster as a springboard, he launched into the air, swiftly killing the remaining dozen wyverns overhead.

Landing, he became a whirlwind, sweeping the battlefield with unrelenting ferocity.

Dodging was now irrelevant—not because the monsters' attacks had weakened, but because Mahiro struck them down before they could land a blow.

His speed outpaced their ability to track him, turning relentless offense into his best defense.

With Mystic Eyes of Distortion enhancing his strength, no Level 3 monster could withstand him.

The horde dwindled visibly under his onslaught.

After what felt like an eternity, the roars and tremors finally ceased.

Only one figure remained standing amid the ravaged battlefield, surrounded by scattered magic stones and drop items—a sight both striking and satisfying.

"For the next floors, strength alone won't cut it," Mahiro muttered, surveying the carnage.

Using the mystic eyes had proven that.

Level 3 monsters rivaled Middle-class devils in strength—albeit the weaker end.

A handful or even dozens were trivial for him, but hundreds or thousands shifted the equation.

Quantity overwhelmed quality.

The wyverns aerial dominance had underscored this.

While he'd tangled with the ground forces, they'd seized the skies, bombarding him with fire.

It had been a hassle—one's strength couldn't fully counter in the lower floors' chaos.

"Then I'll go all out on the next floors," Mahiro said, a thrilled smile tugging at his lips.

Boosted Gear, and Apollon—both beyond standard specs—he could now unleash his full arsenal without restraint.
