Demons are malevolent spiritual entities created by Lucifer. Formed by corrupting human souls after extensive torture in Hell, they are extremely evil.
Classification of Demons
- King of Hell: Special Level
An extremely powerful class of demons, white-eyed demons possess numerous abilities, the most lethal being the emission of white light. They are highly dangerous and rank at the top of Hell's hierarchy. They inspire fear in their subordinates, as all other demons seem terrified of them. So far, the only known demons of this type are Lilith and Alastair.
Four Princes of Hell: Level 1
After creating the first demon, Lilith, Lucifer created the Four Princes of Hell: Azazel, Ramiel, Asmodeus, and Dagon. The four acted as generals of the demonic armies before Ramiel, Asmodeus, and Dagon lost interest in Lucifer's plans and retreated to Earth, while Azazel went on to rule Hell to
free Lucifer and bring about the Apocalypse.
Hell Knights: Level 2
The Knights of Hell are powerful demons handpicked by Lucifer.
They were among the first demons ever created. Legend has it that the archangels destroyed most of them, but at least one survived the purge. What no one knew was that Cain had personally created and trained the Knights of Hell.
The last surviving Knight was Abaddon.
Demons from Legends: Level 3
Throughout Supernatural, the Winchester brothers have fought demons that are unique in some way. Examples include:
• The Multicolored Demon, Samhain - the origin of Halloween, summoned by three blood sacrifices;
• The Seven Deadly Sins physical embodiments of the seven cardinal vices;
• Hellhounds - demonic pit bulls that serve as trackers and killers. They are typically used by crossroads demons to collect the souls of those who have made deals once their time is up.
Crossroads Demons: Level 4
These demons have red eyes.
Unlike ordinary demons who serve the King of Hell, Crossroads Demons tend to be self-serving, making deals with desperate humans in exchange for their souls (usually after 10 years). They can grant wishes, collect souls, and teleport. To summon one, a person must dig a hole at a crossroads, bury a box containing their photo, graveyard dirt, and a black cat's bone. Endowed with immense power, these demons often take the form of attractive women to seduce men into deals, though exceptions exist.
Black-Eyed Demons: Level 5
The most common class of demons, black-eyed demons possess basic powers such as superhuman strength and telekinesis. Effective defenses against them include holy water, salt, iron, and Devil's Traps. Stronger black-eyed demons, like Meg Masters, are unaffected by sacred ground. One demon, Tammi, demonstrated advanced abilities-such as causing internal bleeding and reciting rituals to exorcise Ruby from her body. Tammi was even able to stop a bullet fired from the Colt mid-air.
