Jessica gripped the edge of the table as her heart pounded in her chest. A strange, sinking feeling settled in her stomach, twisting her insides. Her green eyes burned into Dr. Steve, demanding answers he seemed reluctant to give.
"How can you do something like this as a doctor? Do you realize what this means? Do you know the consequence of your actions?" Damon asked, burning with anger.
"I'm sorry. Pete threatened me..."
"What do you mean Pete threatened you?" Jessica asked, her voice tight with anger and confusion.
Dr. Steve swallowed, shifting uncomfortably. "Pete... wasn't who you thought he was."
Jessica's fingers curled into fists on the table. "You better explain yourself," she said, her tone laced with warning. "My patience is running out."
Dr. Steve hesitated before inhaling deeply. "Pete used to be my lover."
