Xiao Hei arrived just in time!
Lu Fei and the others were overjoyed.
This little guy, or rather, big guy now, had been off playing somewhere unknown. Lu Fei knew it was smart and didn't worry about it.
Now that it's back, the timing is perfect.
It grabbed a few rats in its mouth, shook them violently, and then threw them away. With two swift paws, it knocked down another batch of rats.
The originally ferocious rat pack was instantly thrown into chaos.
"Xiao Hei, lead us to the old rat!"
Lu Fei and the others took the opportunity to climb onto Xiao Hei's body, riding on its furry back.
"Charge!"
Xiao Hei's eyes flashed with a bright light as he dashed towards the old rat.
Lu Fei and his two companions clung to its back, gripping its fur tightly.
"There's even a dog!" The old rat's eyes darkened, and it hastily swiped its claws. "Stop them!"
The rats screeched as they chased after them.
Xiao Hei suddenly leaped, landing on the nearest table to the old rat.
The rats climbed up the table legs.
Zhang Molidao flung several fire spirit talismans downward, and the rats, engulfed in flames, fell, unable to climb up for a while.
Lu Fei lifted his head from the black fur, holding his breath as he aimed the thunderwood in his hand at the old rat.
Boom!
A tiny spark shot out.
It flickered like a silver needle in the night.
The old rat had a bad feeling, but by the time it reacted, it was already too late.
The tiny spark lightly struck the old rat.
After a moment, the electric current suddenly expanded, flashing through the old rat's entire body, causing him to fall off his chair.
Lu Fei immediately felt dizzy again.
He felt as if everything around him was rapidly shrinking.
When they regained their senses, they realized that all three of them were pressed against a table, with Little Black barking and wriggling out from underneath them.
Immediately after, the rotten table, unable to bear the weight, collapsed with a loud crash, crushing many more rats.
The little rats were frightened and scattered in all directions.
"It's back to normal!"
The three of them looked at each other, their faces filled with excited smiles.
"Xiao Hei, well done!"
Lu Fei patted Xiao Hei on the head and hurried towards the old rat.
"A little rat, thinking it could step on Hu Zi Lord! You're seeking death!"
The three of them were as fierce as demons.
"Quick! Stop them!" The old rat climbed to its feet, its head singed by the lightning, its fur completely gone, and black smoke billowing from it.
But not a single rat dared to come forward.
"Useless!" The old rat, in a panic, struggled to run out.
But as soon as it reached the gate, it had to brake hard, for there was a yellow talisman stuck to the gate.
Having just used the shrinking spell, it had expended a lot of energy and dared not clash head-on with the talisman.
It hastily turned around and ran in another direction, but the more it ran, the colder its heart grew, as yellow talismans were everywhere.
The entire house was sealed off!
"Immortal sir, what's the rush, we haven't even watched the fireworks yet!"
Lu Fei and his two companions chased after it.
"You wait for me! A true gentleman's revenge is never too late, even if it takes a hundred thousand years!" The old rat, with no place to run, a flash of ferocity in its eyes, dug its paws into the ground, and a black hole appeared. It then dived straight into the hole.
Hu Zi pursued, only to see a pitch-black underground passage.
"Boss, this old rat has burrowed and escaped!" He tried, but the hole was only as wide as his arm; there was no way he could squeeze through, and he stamped his feet in frustration.
"Don't panic, we already said, not one of them is going to get away!"
But Lu Fei and Zhang Molin remained calm and smiled at each other.
Among the talismans around the house, there were quite a few fire spirit charms.
Zhang Molin recited the incantation, and the fire charms were activated.
Streams of flames exploded, forming a long dragon, setting the house on fire. Soon, the entire mansion was engulfed in a raging inferno, with thick black smoke billowing everywhere.
Lu Fei, the other two people, and the dog had already left the house before the fire started.
"Isn't this just like smoking out rats from their holes?" Hu Zi's eyes widened, extremely excited.
In rural areas, when rats can't be caught after they've burrowed into holes, this method is used. The rats can't stand the smoke and will run out by themselves.
Thick black smoke filled the entire abandoned village.
Countless rats scurried about in the firelight, but not a single one could escape.
Lu Fei and the other two guarded the perimeter.
In less than the time it takes to smoke a cigarette, Xiao Hei suddenly barked at a spot on the ground.
"It's out!"
The three of them exchanged glances.
Then, the dirt loosened, and a furless head peeked out furtively. After its cunning eyes darted around, it quickly crawled out and sneaked away, carrying a small bundle on its smoke-stained body.
But before it could run a few steps, a black dog charged at it fiercely. It hastily turned around, only to have a ghost-headed saber drop from the sky, pinning its tail to the ground.
Squeak, squeak, squeak!
The old rat let out a pained shriek, its claws scratching deep marks into the ground.
Lu Fei and the other two approached with smiles on their faces.
"How was the firework display?"
"Masters, we have no grievances. Why go this far?" The old rat, after a quick turn of its eyes, knelt down to plead for mercy despite the pain, "Can I just give up on the bride?"
It pulled out three gray hairs from its body and, in front of Lu Fei and the others, burned them to ash.
Afterwards.
Hu Zi felt that the Twin Heart Lock hanging around his neck trembled, and then ashes leaked out from the golden lock.
The Twin Heart Lock was unlocked.
The little girl from the Sun family was safe and sound.
But this only represented the present.
Who knows if this treacherous old rat will seek revenge later?
"You old coot, do you think we would believe your lies! You were just about to use us as a side dish, and now you're cowering?" Hu Zi spat, pressing the ghosthead knife firmly against the old rat's tail.
"Masters, I was wrong! All the treasures in the house are yours! I only ask that you spare my life!"
The old rat kept kowtowing, with no dignity left. His fur was scorched, his white beard gone, a complete contrast to his once imposing appearance.
"Oh, what treasures?" Lu Fei raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"It's all here."
Seeing that there was a chance, the old rat hurriedly untied the small bundle on his body and unfolded it, squeezing out an ingratiating smile on his soot-blackened pointed face.
Inside, there was a glittering array of gold, silver, and jewels.
"These are the riches I have accumulated over many years, enough for you masters to live a life of luxury and abundance for the rest of your lives."
These are all genuine gold and silver, not fake goods made from dead objects.
Any one of these items could fetch a good price if sold.
"You think you can fob us off with these mundane things? I see you still don't want to live!" Lu Fei didn't even bother to lift his eyelids as he raised the thunderbolt jujube wood staff.
Electric light flashed, and the power of lightning erupted.
Zhang Moli even more righteously snorted, "As cultivators, we should rid the world of evil and uphold justice! How could we be swayed by your ill-gotten gains to show mercy?"
Seeing that this trick wasn't working, the old rat immediately panicked.
"Masters! Several masters, spare my life! I have one more treasure, it's a rarity in this world. That old woman Feng helped me make a match just for this treasure!"
