Marquis Brain stationed heavy troops to guard the city gate. Fortunately, he arrived in time; otherwise, once the city was breached, there would be no place left to defend the remaining cities.
In the early hours of the morning, the soldiers guarding the city gates didn't notice that, as Marquis Brain arrived to provide reinforcements, one person had infiltrated his personal guards.
It was dark, and the soldiers were all wearing the same equipment, making it hard to distinguish one from the other.
No one paid attention.
At that moment, the main force of the rebel army launched their attack.
Their tactic was to catch the defenders off guard, taking advantage of the night to quickly approach the city.
From the city towers, soldiers wildly shot arrows, while the rebels below held shields to cover their ladders as they approached the city walls.
At this moment, the magic casters were on their way. The walls only had ordinary soldiers.
As the soldiers neared the wall, preparing to place their ladders, the city gate suddenly opened.
The soldier who had infiltrated Marquis Brain's personal guards smashed several barrels of oil near the gate.
The barrels shattered, and the man ignited the flames without fear, rushing into the firestorm and opening the city gate.
A few soldiers rushed to stop him, but the flames, fueled by the oil, were difficult to extinguish. The flames burned their bodies, forcing them to retreat. They still had flames burning on them, and others quickly helped put them out.
The man, unfazed by the flames, was engulfed in fire as he opened the gate.
The soldiers outside saw the gate swing open and rushed in. Upon seeing the blaze, they wanted to retreat, but the soldiers behind them didn't stop, pushing them into the fire.
A massive crowd poured into the fire, and through sheer numbers, they extinguished the flames.
A brutal battle broke out at the city gate between the two forces.
The soldiers of Marquis Brain saw that the rebel soldiers were fearless and relentless. They were scared, and with casualties mounting, many of them began to flee.
On the rebel army's side, however, thanks to Renner's prior brainwashing efforts, the soldiers maintained high discipline and no one deserted.
Although Marquis Brain was a capable noble, he had not prepared his soldiers psychologically for such a situation. As the battle became increasingly one-sided, his soldiers, terrified of death, started fleeing.
Since Marquis Brain had not slept much the night before, he was still resting at that moment.
A soldier rushed in to report that the city gate had fallen.
Marquis Brain had just left his quarters when the rebel army arrived.
The fleeing soldiers spread like a plague, quickly infecting the rest, and most of the soldiers began to follow suit, desperately trying to escape.
At that moment, Marquis Brain had only 500 of his personal guards left; everyone else had run away.
As Marquis Brain tried to escape, the rebel army had already surrounded him.
The leaders of the rebel army walked through their troops and approached the front.
"Are you trying to rebel?!" Marquis Brain shouted.
He recognized a few of them — they were some of the newly appointed viscounts and baron lords from the surrounding area.
"Yes!" one of them, whom Marquis Brain had met once, replied.
The direct answer caught Marquis Brain off guard, and he didn't know how to respond.
"You dare to rebel!" he exclaimed.
"What's there to be afraid of? Now we have a strong army. Ten armies are attacking from ten directions in the kingdom. What resistance can those useless noblemen put up?" one of them sneered.
"Marquis Brain, I advise you to surrender! Otherwise, your entire family will be killed!" the leader of the five said.
They had investigated Marquis Brain and knew that he cared deeply about his children.
The plan to persuade Marquis Brain to surrender had been discussed earlier. Once he was convinced, his influence and prestige would make it easier to convince other nobles to surrender as well.
Their goal was to be the first to reach the royal capital.
Renner had previously informed them that whoever reached the capital first would gain a higher position.
"I will never surrender to rebels!" Marquis Brain rejected them with firm resolve.
"Let's see if you still act so tough when we catch your son!"
Upon hearing this, Marquis Brain's heart began to race with fear.
The rebel army wasted no time and immediately sent troops to Marquis Brain's residence—Buno City.
Buno City had only about a thousand guards.
The defenders were mostly veterans, with the strong and youthful soldiers having been sent to the front lines by Marquis Brain.
Without hesitation, the rebel army attacked Buno City. Although the veterans were older, their fighting spirit was high, and they fought to the death without retreat.
After three hours of fierce fighting, the rebel army finally breached Buno City.
Marquis Brain's wife and son were captured by the rebels.
Upon seeing his son, the captured Marquis Brain felt his heart tighten with worry.
"Dad, save me! Dad, save me!"
Hearing his son's cries, Marquis Brain's heart softened.
"I surrender!"
With Marquis Brain's assistance, many other nobles were convinced to surrender.
The rebel army faced very little combat on their way, preserving their strength in the process.
As for the nobles who surrendered, after Marquis Brain and the main army had moved on, their power was stripped away, leaving them penniless as they were sent back to their homes.

In Renner's room in the kingdom.
After a night of intense battle, Renner lay down, utterly exhausted. She had felt on several occasions that she was on the verge of dying, but she had managed to hold on.
Just as she closed her eyes, within seconds, Renner fell into a deep sleep.
When Renner opened her eyes again, she realized she was no longer in her bedroom.
Before her stretched an endless sea of white clouds, and she was standing on top of them. In the distance, there were numerous buildings, each more magnificent than the last, as if she were in a dream.
Suddenly, Renner felt a sensation in her body, one that was all too familiar. It was something she had already experienced before falling asleep.
Renner's expression was strange, unsure whether to feel happy or uncomfortable, or perhaps a mix of both.
Before losing her sanity, Renner had already deduced what had happened. It was likely that Peroroncino had used some kind of skill to prevent her from waking up.
Then, while Renner was still asleep, Peroroncino had done things that were very much in line with what he would do.
Renner desperately wanted to open her eyes and wake up, but her body felt as if it were being pinned down by an invisible force. She could feel everything, but her body was completely unresponsive.
Gradually, Renner began to adjust to this sensation.
A thought formed in her mind: "This feeling... isn't so bad after all."
