Chapter 18 - ch 16

May I have lost a lot but god gifted you to me that too when there was no one who wanted to be with me,you are my blessing." KaashiđŸŸ

The first rays of sunlight crept through the sheer curtains, bathing the room in a soft golden glow. Aarohi lay awake, her head resting on the edge of the pillow, gazing at Rudaraksh's peaceful face. His arm was draped protectively around her waist, his breathing even and calm.

Aarohi's lips curved into a tender smile as she reached out to brush a strand of his hair off his forehead. In the stillness of the morning, he looked serene, his usual sharp features softened by sleep. Leaning closer, she whispered to herself, "He looks so innocent when he's asleep. Like a child."

Unable to resist, she pressed a feather-light kiss to his forehead. His arm tightened slightly around her, but he remained blissfully unaware. Aarohi stifled a chuckle and carefully slid out from under his embrace, moving toward the bathroom for her morning ritual.

The sound of running water soon filled the room as she hummed softly to herself, unaware of how this day would test them both.

Rudaraksh stirred, his eyes fluttering open. Reaching out instinctively, his arm met nothing but the cold sheets. A wave of unease washed over him as he sat up abruptly, his gaze darting around the room.

"Rooh?" he called, his voice laced with worry. Silence answered him.

Throwing off the covers, he got out of bed, his heart pounding. He checked the bathroom, but it was empty. A sense of dread gripped him as he shouted her name again, louder this time. Still, no response.

By the time he reached the staircase, his chest felt tight with fear. His footsteps echoed as he hurried down, his eyes scanning every corner.

In the living room, Aarav and Aarushi were sipping their morning coffee, exchanging light banter. They paused, startled, as Rudaraksh stormed in.

"Where's Rooh?" he demanded, his voice strained.

Aarohi appeared just then, emerging from the kitchen with a tray in her hands. Her brows knitted in confusion as she saw his panicked expression.

Aarohi appeared just then, emerging from the kitchen with a tray in her hands. Her brows knitted in confusion as she saw his panicked expression.

"Rudar? What's wrong?" she asked, setting the tray down and stepping toward him.

Without a word, he closed the distance and pulled her into a fierce hug, burying his face in her hair. Aarohi froze for a moment, then gently placed her hands on his back.

"Why are you acting like this?" she asked softly, her voice tinged with concern.

Rudaraksh didn't answer, his thoughts a chaotic whirl of emotions. Aarohi pulled back slightly to look into his eyes, but he avoided her gaze. Something wasn't right, and she could feel it.

"Go freshen up," she said gently, her tone firm despite the worry gnawing at her. He nodded reluctantly and trudged back upstairs.

In the living room, Aarav and Aarushi exchanged worried glances with their father. Their father, who knew the truth, gave them a silent nod, reassuring them that he would handle it.

---

The morning passed in uneasy silence. After breakfast, Aarohi returned to her room, standing before the mirror as she fixed her hair. Her hands moved mechanically, her mind preoccupied with Rudaraksh's strange behavior.

She turned to find him leaning against the doorframe, his eyes distant. He hadn't dressed for work, his shirt still wrinkled, his tie forgotten.

"Rudar?" she called, tilting her head. "Aren't you getting ready for the office?"

He didn't respond immediately, his fingers tightening into fists at his sides. Finally, he took a deep breath and stepped into the room, his gaze meeting hers.

"Jaan," he began, his voice trembling slightly. "We need to talk."

Her heart skipped a beat. "What is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

He reached for her hands, guiding her to sit on the edge of the bed. His grip was firm, as though he feared she might disappear. Taking a deep breath, he began to speak, his words heavy with emotion.

He told her everything-the truth about her adoption, her family, and the tragic loss of Shivani. With each word, Aarohi's expression shifted from confusion to disbelief, and finally, to heartbreak.

When he finished, her face crumpled as tears spilled down her cheeks. She shook her head, her breathing uneven. "No... no... this can't be true."

"Bachha-" Rudaraksh reached out, but she recoiled, standing abruptly.

"I'm a curse," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Everyone I love... they leave me."

Before he could stop her, she ran to the bathroom and locked the door.

"Jaan!" Rudaraksh banged on the door, his voice frantic. "Please, open the door! Let me explain!"

Inside, Aarohi sank to the floor, her sobs echoing off the tiled walls. "Why does this keep happening to me?" she cried. "Why am I alive if all I bring is pain?"

Rudaraksh's heart shattered at her words. Desperate, he forced the door open, his panic overriding his strength. He found her huddled in the corner, her face buried in her knees, her body trembling violently.

He dropped to his knees, pulling her into his arms despite her resistance. "Stop it, Bachha!" he said, his voice breaking. "Don't say that. Don't you dare think you're a curse."

She pushed against him weakly, her cries turning into incoherent mumbles. "You don't understand," she said between sobs. "Everyone I've ever loved has left me. I don't want to lose you too!"

"You won't lose me," he said firmly, his own tears falling. "I'm not going anywhere, Ruhii. You mean everything to me. Please, stop punishing yourself.

"

Her resistance faded as his warmth enveloped her. She clung to him, her tears soaking his shirt. He stroked her hair, whispering words of comfort, his voice steady despite the ache in his chest.

For a long time, they stayed like that, two broken souls finding solace in each ot

her.
