There they were the three young magicians in an unknown city with large metal buildings close together, each one standing at least three stories high. The city they were in was like night and day compared to their little village of Embermire. The young teens had never left their small town, Jera glanced at Draven with a worried look as the portal disappeared behind them. Ms. Nez began to say something, but Professor Slim interrupted her saying "Oh how good it is to be back close to the tower." The three quickly spun around looking up in the sky and there it was, the Nexus Tower. It was a dark tower with a magical fog around it that seemed to go up endlessly. Kael felt his heart race as he looked at the tower, Draven and Jera looked at each other with excitement as they were feeling close to their goal. Ms. Nez snapped the kids out of their daydreams of the tower, saying, "What are you three looking at? As of right now none of you will make it there and I have a headache just thinking of how I'm going to get you all ready for the test in just a couple of weeks." Professor Slims added, "That can wait for today I have some people I need to meet so I'll leave the kids to you." Ms. Nez let out a small grown of distaste for Professor Slims as she couldn't wait to finish this assignment.
Ms. Nez then took the three to where they would be staying until the exam started. She took them to a large building that was at least ten stories high and showed the man at the door an I.D. card that showed her rank and affinity, the doorman then opened the door greeting her saying, "Welcome professor" and let them in, she took them all to their rooms where Jera got her room, and the two boys were to share one. Ms. Nez explained to them that training would start tomorrow, and they were free to do what they wanted today as long as it consisted of staying in the hotel. The hotel offered many amenities that consisted of many different food options and even a few activities like swimming and a game room. Ms. Nez looked at Kael and asked, " If you don't mind, I'd like you to come with me for the day?" Kael hesitated before answering because he wanted to enjoy all the hotel had to offer before training, but he knew he needed to follow her, so he answered "Sure, where are we going?" Ms. Nez looked at the other two and answered, "Just for a walk." ending with a slight chuckle. Draven told his brother, " Be safe, I'll see you back at the room!" he then grabbed Jera's hand as they ran off into the hotel. Ms. Nez and Kael began to walk through the hotel passing many restaurants and activities that Kael had never seen before, he caught a glimpse of Draven and Jera laughing in a restaurant eating a meal that looked to be served out of a bubble, his stomach growled and asked Ms. Nez "Will this walk consist of some food?" Ms. Nez answered "That depends on you" finishing with another chuckle. She thought to herself, "This is going to be fun... For me." they made their way to the top of the building where she opened a portal right under Kael's feet and dropped him into an unknown dark forest that had a thick fog rolling through it. The forest was not like anything Kael had been in before the trees in the forest weren't like any trees he had seen. He felt a wave of magic pulse through him as Ms. Nez appeared right behind him and said, "Boy this is where the fun begins for you."
Kael was beginning to panic as he hadn't known Ms. Nez for long and now, she had taken him to a scary forest, he had no clue how to use his magic, so he was stuck there in fear. Ms. Nez then said, "You won't be leaving this forest until you are ready for the exam." Kaels mind raced thinking about how much time was until the exam he blurted out, "What about Draven? What are you going to do with him? Why did you bring me here?" Ms. Nez slapped Kael saying, "Calm down Kael, you are different from the other two. I will be training you here for the next week and Professor Slims will take care of their training." Ms. Nez made a motion for Kael to follow her. She took Kael to a broken-down cabin that had looked abandoned from the outside but when they walked in it was spotlessly and looked well put together. Kael asked, "Where are we?" The space Professor smiled and said "We are in my forbidden zone, only the space affinity can reach this place and I'm the only one that knows how to get here. Kael had a puzzled look on his face questioning the professor, "Forbidden zone? I've never heard of a thing like a forbidden zone." she laughed "Of course you haven't, you are from one of the smallest villages I have ever seen, it's amazing that three powerful magicians came out of there. Especially you Kael." Kael then asked another question "Why am I so special? The other two are already so far ahead of me that I do not know if I can even pass the exam. I can't even use my magic." Ms. Nez shook her head "Kael space affinity is different than all other magic. It's much more fickle and much harder to manipulate than basic elements, it not only consists of everything around you, but you also require a vast knowledge of magic itself. That is what I'm here to teach you."
The Professor then asked Kael about his progress with the space affinity. " Do you know what an internal star is yet? Kael answered, "Of course, I didn't know it was called an internal star until right now but one showed up not long after I learned my method of accumulation and it split after my brother had an accident and I tried to use my magic to help him, but no magic happened." She wore a shocked expression, "You already split your internal star!" Kael answered her "Yes it split during the accident and the two stars constantly spin around each other inside my reserve and as I accumulate energy they shine brighter, but every time I pull magic from them all I can do is gather it on my hands but that's as far as I got." Ms. Nez still wore a shocked expression on her face as she thought to herself, "This boy learned to expand his galaxy before even learning a single spell! He can even gather tangible space energy in his hands already. This is far faster than I was when I awakened, and I had a master guiding me the whole way, from the very beginning." She shook the shocked expression off her face and told Kael, "Honestly Kael I thought you wouldn't amount to much coming from that village and you would just get yourself hurt in the exam, but I know I was wrong now, you truly have talent and I'm going to bring every bit of it out of you before the exam." Kael looked at his hands and thought to himself, "I'm talented?" I can't even perform a single spell or control my magic outside of my reserve. Draven and Jera already are working on new spells, and I have nothing." Ms. Nez put her hand on his shoulder not only to comfort him, but she also probed his reserve to check on his galaxy and when she did, she saw two big bright stars circling each other and she was amazed at what she saw. She told Kael, Trust me after my crash course you will pass that exam with flying colors, and don't worry about the other two, Professor Slims might not look it, but he is a very talented earth magician with a special sub-class.
