The days went on and Kaels training was going smooth under the guidence of Ms. Nez. She taught Kael the basics of the four elements, she started with fire and explained its basic nature, Destruction and followed with water the element of change, next came Earth, the element of creation, finally came air the element of freedom. Kael had many questions about the elements and why he needed to know about the other types of magic. He grew impatient as he felt like he was getting lectured for the last couple of days inside of the oddly nice cabin they were staying in. Kael looked around and began to see items that had a crest engraved on them. Ms. Nez noticed the distraction saying "Am I boring you with all this information? I could just let you figure out all this the hard way if you would like." Kael snapped back in saying "I'm sorry Ms. Nez but I can't help but notice the markings on all the items around here." She sighed saying "You should know what it means to have an artifact, you carry one with you already." Kael had a puzzled look as he looked at all the items that had the mark on it, the mark looked like the North Star with a snake wrapping around it, he asked "All those items are artifacts?" She sighed again and said "We are going to be here awhile if we have to go through all the items but yes they are all artifacts and they all have different uses. There is a lot of things to learn Kael and we can focus on those later."
She knew Kael was getting bored so she asked him, "Would you like to learn a basic spell, it's similar to the same one you've seen me use before?" Kael immediately shook his head yes paying full attention now. Ms. Nez began, her eyes glowed with a beautiful sparkle of purple and Kael could see a small galaxy in her eyes, her hands began to glow with the space affinity and she stretched out the energy and grabbed a cup on the table and all of the sudden the cup disappeared and just as quick as it disappeared it reappeared on table next to Kael. Kaels eyes were wide open at that point. Ms. Nez then asked "What did you see?" Kael answered confidently "You teleported the cup to my table." Ms. Nez laughed saying "Close but teleportation requires a portal, that was called displacement which is much more simple then teleportation." She then did it again and explained the spell. It all starts with establishing a spatial connection with the item and setting the spatial coordinates for the object. Using displacement on small items are a lot easier because it requires less energy, a good rule of thumb is too never use displacment on a object you can't lift yourself its better off to use a portal at that point. She then explained setting a spatial coordinate was a lot simpler when you could see the location as it takes a glance to decide where the item would appear it gets tricky when you can't see the location that's when she looked at Kael with a strict face saying "That is exactly why you shouldn't use displacement on anything living because it breaks down the material and reassembles it in a new location."
The days began to blend as Kael would listen to Ms. Nez lectures at the beginning of the days and practice accumulation and the displacment spell. Kael struggled with the spell, he was able to gather the energy in his hand and slowly began to strech out the energy but he struggled with establishing the connection with the cup. He eventually got it after a couple of days of practice and managed to displace the cup just above the other table where it fell and broke. Ms. Nez was honestly shocked to see how fast Kael was progressing with the spell and couldn't believe he had only got it after a couple days with a small example and explanation. She knew if he could master displacment he would have huge advantage in the exams.
A week had past just like that and Ms. Nez felt it was time to go back to the city to check on the other two. Kael was getting nervous about going back to see how the other two where progressing compared to him but Ms. Nez reassured Kael that the other two are doing fine and she had checked in with Professor Slims several times to make sure he was doing his part of their assignment. It was a week until the exam and It was time to start group training and explain the first part of the exam. Ms. Nez opened a portal to roof of the hotel, where on the other side was waiting professor slim with the Draven and Jera. As soon as Kael walked through the portal Draven grabbed him hugging him saying "Kael I'm so glad to see you!" Kael returned his brothers embrace greeting him. Kael could almost feel the warmth coming off of his little brother, he knew he had been training hard without him there. Kael turned and greeted Jera saying, "Hey there Ice Queen." And just as he said that jera stomped her foot and as she did a line of ice shot towards Kael trapping his foot in ice and said "Still as slow as ever, Didn't you learn anything the last week?" Kael drew magic to his foot expanding it just enough to break the ice saying "of course I did and you're still as cold as ever." All three of the teens bursted out laughing as they were excited to be with each other again. All happy moments come to an end though as both professors stepped in, Ms. Nez was the one to break the excitement as she told the kids to follow her. She took them inside of a training room where Draven and jera had been doing most of their practice.
The room was lined with many different practice weapons and had many training dummy's set up where Kael noticed a few had burn marks on them, he turned to Draven asking " You've been working hard haven't you little brother?" Draven smiled replying "I'm sure it wasn't as hard as you've been working." Jera butted in and said "Well neither of you are one my level." Jera was extra confident because she had started to solidify her reserve of magic, instead of the small ice puddle she was working with before it was now compared to a small pond that had froze over almost completely. Draven wasn't far behind her but couldn't really compare because they were polar opposite of each other but he had learned a lot about his flame and had accumulated a lot more magic then before and even grew the intensity of his flame. Kael could sense a new found confidence in his little brother that he didn't have the week before. Professor Slims then broke the confidence of each one of them saying "Alright that's enough bragging from you too, you both are still puppies who barely compare to much in the magic world." Ms Nez elbowed him hard just because she hadn't done that in a week but in the end she agreed with him saying, "The same goes for you Kael. Y'all have only just begun and the next week will be a lot tougher then what y'all have went through so far." The three knew that it was going to be a rough time now that it was a week until the exam. They all had to try their best and learn to work together as a team if they were going to pass the exams.
