Chapter 22 - MHA : Chapter 22 : One Explosive Temper I

Peter had to admit, walking on the ceiling again was kind of comfortable! A bit disorientating but he made due. Although his mood was brought down slightly by the fact that a certain volatile teen hasn't shown up yet.

It was a matter of time before Bakugo would show up and try to kick his ass, the question was that if he would succeed or not. Either way, he'd be at a disadvantage since Mirio was still there, but if he phased away he'd lose the communicator. Giving a small sigh, he put his gloved hands in the pockets of the hoodie he wore.

He had the advantage in reflexes and experience, but even he knew that sheer strength and speed couldn't compete with nonstop explosions at point-blank range. His best bet was to try and get him to mess up by annoying him.

So, what he normally did!

Except that it'd probably be more effective.

Cause, you know.

Bakugo and all.

"Are you sure he's gonna show up like you said he would? We might as well just find the bomb and ignore him, you know. There's no way someone could let a small grudge affect their reasoning that much, right?" The voice of his partner echoed dully around the compact halls of the building.

Peter could only tilt his head downward at him and give him a confident look through his mask, the expression being shown through the lenses. "I know he will, it's just a matter of time. But if he doesn't, we'll just find the bomb anyway, cool?"

Extending an upside-down fist bump, Peter could only smile when the blonde returned it without any hesitation. Even though his goofy personality the guy just was a total bro, that was something Peter could appreciate.

Walking for a couple of seconds, the dull silence became quite annoying to the brunette, so he'd do what he did best.

Talk, and talk a lot.

"So… What's the deal with you and Tamaki? Childhood friends or something? You guys seem pretty close." He asked, attempting to start a conversation.

Mirio's face instantly lit up, giving a shining grin at the mention of his friend. "Oh, we like each other! Ever since middle school!" Peter could only raise an eyebrow at how casually he announced that.

"Really? Are you two dating?"

"Nope! not yet!"

Alright, Peter could outright admit now that he wasn't following.

"But you guys both like each other, what's stopping you?"

"Oh! It's because I want him to make the first move. He knows we like each other, but he'll have to be the first one to say it!" Mirio explained, pumping his fist into the air with a sense of enthusiasm.

"He seems super shy, you sure that's gonna work out?"

Mirio only gave a laugh as a fond smile appeared on his face, his eyes growing soft as he reminisced. "Yeah, that's what I like about him. Besides, it's fun!"

Now, Peter couldn't help but feel the tiniest bit jealous of his newfound friend. While he didn't have friends growing up, that didn't mean he wouldn't have appreciated having someone with him through the years. Maybe he'd have a girlfriend by now if he were more social.

But that didn't matter anyway, Peter didn't get crushes often.

Wait, did he?

Nah, probably not.

Probably.

Also, why did he randomly think of carrots?

"Well, I'm rooting for you! You guys would be cool together." He couldn't help but let a sense of warmth flow through him at the sight of Mirio's grin at the comment. This guy really was made of puppies and sunshine, huh?

Kinda like All Might…

Before Peter could ask about his relationship with the number one hero or even think about his theory more, his attention was shifted to a buzzing sensation at the back of his skull.

Along with it came the approaching sound of rapid footsteps and the growing crackling of sparks.

Leaping from his standing position on the roof, Peter dove forward and tackled Mirio to the ground, the impact making both of them skid away from where they were moments prior.

Right on queue, the wall they were previously next to burst into a shower of dust and debris, quickly revealing their opponent as Bakugo stepped through a blanket of smoke.

Now, Peter didn't like the guy too much, but even he had to admit that entrance was badass. Although the look in the teen's eyes quickly put that feeling out.

Peter wasn't dumb, he knew Bakugo would come to them in a fit of rage and intensity. That didn't mean he actually wanted it to happen, you know? He'd rather do anything than fight Bakugo.

But still, it was all part of the plan.

Getting up from the floor, Peter looked down at Mirio who was staring back up at him. "Remember the plan, right?" Mirio gave a nod, great! "Cool, skedaddle Tintin! I got this!"

With one final nod and a thumbs up, he phased through the floor and disappeared into the building. Peter stood up and turned to meet his opponent's gaze as his lense narrowed, both teens silently daring the other to make a move.

"You're not as much of a coward as I thought, American! I respect that, but it won't help when I blow you away!" The boy in front of him taunted, a series of sparks coming from his palms.

He thought of this as some fated showdown, like some battle between rivals that's been brewing for centuries. Peter couldn't say he shared the same sentiment about this, this was just him getting back into the swing of being a hero.

"I'd make a joke about the whole blowing thing but that's beneath me, you know?" Dropping to a low crouch, he could only pat himself when seeing Bakugo's expression shift into rage.

All part of the plan.

"I'll fucking kill you!" Like a rocket, the ash-blonde flew forward with his explosions. Seeing this, Peter only backflipped onto the ceiling and started running down the hall.

"Hey, is this you getting into character or just your personality?! I can't tell!" The boy called back, sprinting on the ceiling and around a corner. After finally turning the corner, he shot webs at the corridor and made a thick net to try and impede Bakugo's assault.

Now, the plan wasn't to actually fight the guy straight on, Peter would very much rather go without having to do that. The plan was for Mirio to get away and find the bomb, he'd be able to ignore Iida's attacks thanks to his kicks being more direct than Bakugo's explosions; Peter's job was to occupy him long enough for Mirio to get the job done.

Not a second later, his spider-sense went off, allowing him to jump away with barely a second to spare before the hallway burst in a blast of embers and smoke. "Fight me like a man, you bitch!" The boy rushed forward and let off small blasts in Peter's face; blasts he only barely dodged by getting on the ceiling, his jacket got slightly scorched before he could jump away.

"Can I convince you to fight me like a spider?" Oh, man! Peter had been wanting to use that joke for months! It was like his favorite joke in his quip book!

Which was not a book Peter had in which he wrote down jokes to use in incredibly specific situations and then memorized. And if anyone says that a book like that exists, they're lying.

"You think 'cause you did some vigilante shit and that you stopped that sludge monster that you're better than me!? I didn't ask for the help of a criminal like you! I'll show them what a lowlife piece of trash you are right here and now!" Alright, now Peter was getting kind of annoyed.

Dropping back down, the masked teen quickly let off a burst of streams of webbing, all being blown away by an explosion. Rushing forward, his spider-sense went off, alerting him to a telegraphed right hook coming for him.

Leaning away and dodging the attack, he let off a quick jab to the boy's stomach that made him stagger. Seeing his opening, he grasped his extended arm and threw him over his shoulder. Bakugo skidded a few feet, the impact having taken the air out of his lungs.

It was funny, he wouldn't even need the notes Midoriya had on the guy to match him in a fight.

Slowly getting up with a growl, Bakugo stared the masked teen down while gritting his teeth. "How… How fucking dare you!? I won't let a pebble like you match me!"

"Dare to do what? Fight back? I think we got different definitions of how a fight works! How about we compare notes after this?" His lenses showed the large grin on his face, showing his enemies his expression was just such a great tool to have. Peter jumped forward with a dive kick, Bakugo sidestepping and blasting him through a wall with a large explosion.

Yeah, it might've been obvious but that wasn't part of the plan.

Mostly because it hurt like hell.

He hoped Mirio wasn't having this much trouble.
