Inside the sea, Akira felt his whole body become stronger; he felt lighter, stronger, and faster. He glared at Freya, who was surprised at Akira's actions. She had used some of her most powerful binds, but he broke free like it was nothing? She had no idea how that was possible, and she didn't care. If that didn't work, she just had to murder him in a fight. This was more her style anyway.
Holding a magnificent sword, she slowly stood up. She felt the resistance of the water, but that was hardly an issue for her. With a smirk on her face, she charged straight at Akira, who, in turn, also charged straight at her.
With a vicious stab, she aimed for his heart, but Akira was unperturbed; with a simple hand motion, he redirected the sword, and she flew right past him.
With a glare, Freya landed on the ground and jumped straight back up, aiming her sword at Akira once more. Still, no reaction from him; he dodged it with utmost elegance, swimming so freely it looked like he was flying.
Meanwhile, the hundreds of thousands of valkyries were getting pushed back by the demons. When Freya saw that, she started getting nervous.
She was going all out, summoning her whole army, but the demons that were previously getting slaughtered were now pushing back her proud warriors? How could that be?
"What are you hiding? Are you really a newly appointed Godslayer?" she inquired, carefully looking around.
Akira just shrugged at her question; he knew why the difference was so big this time. The higher-ranking demons were also fighting now.
He had no idea why, nor did he care right now; he was glad they came out this time. Or it might have been an insanely difficult battle.
With a smirk on his face, he waved his arm, and the water around Freya started solidifying into ice, trapping her in a cage made of ice.
Right after, he summoned a massive spear formed from hellfire and threw it with all his power straight at Freya, who had just destroyed the ice prison with a single slash of her sword.
When she saw the massive purple spear flying at her, she slashed her sword, frantically drawing multiple hundreds of runes that appeared in front of her.
And with a final slash, all those runes exploded simultaneously, forming massive pitch-black walls.
Akira stared at the pitch-black stone walls, curious as to what they were, and when the spear touched the first wall, he expected a massive explosion.
But what happened left him baffled; there was no massive explosion or impact. The wall just straight up vanished as if it had never been there in the first place.
But the spear also shrunk considerably, and with each wall it hit, the same thing repeated itself: the wall vanished, and the spear shrunk.
After going through all the walls, the massive spear had shrunk to the size of a toothpick, and Freya gracefully dodged it.
Charging straight at Akira once more, he balled his fist, solidifying the water in the places where she had formed runes.
When the ice appeared, the runes vanished. Akira heaved a sigh of relief, focusing all his attention back on the woman charging straight at him.
Effortlessly dodging all her sword strikes, it looked like he was playing with her. He swam right around her while she was struggling to maneuver through the sea he had created.
"Hahaha." Laughing, Akira kept repeating his attacks, freezing the water around her into an ice prison and then throwing a huge purple spear at her.
He was basically toying with her at this point, repeating these attacks. Freya kept repeating the same defenses, cutting the ice prison and drawing those same pitch-black runes to absorb the spear's impact.
This cycle kept repeating itself for who knows how long. Had it been a couple of hours? A couple of days?
Akira had no idea, but what he did know was that he was loving every second of this battle.
Then something suddenly changed; every single valkyrie had been exterminated, and Freya looked with dread at Akira.
He, in turn, looked at all the demons standing proudly at the bottom. He saw four demons standing at the front, each with an imposing presence.
'Those must be high demons or maybe even leaders,' he mused.
"You all may return. Thank you for your service," Akira ordered, and with a snap of his fingers, all the demons were gone, together with all the demonic gates.
Turning his attention back to the woman in front of him, who looked to be slightly tired after repeating that same cycle for who knows how long.
"Time to wrap this up, I guess. I need to return home," Akira muttered.
With a single snap of his finger, another ice prison appeared around Freya, who, in turn, rolled her eyes.
'This again? If you want to wrap this up, you'll need to come up with something better,' she thought, rolling her eyes at Akira.
She could have left whenever she wanted. The only reason she stayed was to see what had changed in that short time she was looking for him, and she had an idea.
It had to do with his eyes. Crimson eyes—when they turned crimson, it felt like he had unlocked a hidden power that was dormant inside his body. The only reason she was still entertaining him was because she wanted to learn more about that power.
Slashing once more to break the ice prison she was in, she got ready to start drawing those same runes once again.
But when she did slash to break the ice prison, it had no effect. The ice prison didn't even budge.
She looked around in a panic and just started drawing those runes, knowing what he would do next. Even if his ice became stronger, it didn't matter; he had to break it himself to hit her.
