"Another day... another dollar" Ahn replied to some random guy when asked how his day was going.
Ahn had just made it to the office and was currently on his way to his work station. Being the 2nd Division Management Chief put his in a mid tear managerial position. His second in command Hyun was just as diligent about his work as Ahn, or at least the Ahn before he took over his body was.
Being a Division Management Chief was at the same time hard work and very laid back. A lot of it had to do with finding new talent and making sure that the talent that the Guild had would stick around by making them feel like a valued team member, which of course they were.
Ahn knew that the story hadn't progressed that far to be concerned overall since he has yet to be threatened by Jin Woo, but that didn't mean that it wasn't close to that timeline. He remembered that although the story was pretty cut clear in terms of progression, there wasn't really a way to tell exactly how much time it took Jin Woo to get up to S rank from E rank.
I'm pretty sure there is, but I never paid that close of an attention to the timeline to deduce the number of days, but I know its for sure shorter than a year
Ahn put that thought out of his mind, at least when he would have met him Jin Woo was still growing into his A rank level powers. That means that currently Jin Woo isn't a threat to him, but by the time he would request to join THAT gate's raid party, he'd be a pseudo-S rank.
"Ahhhh.. this is to much to think about right now, I should just dig around and find out."
Ahn's sudden outburst in front of the Second Division floor office door surprised a couple of people walking by.
"Ahn's going at it again."
"Do you think he found another qualified talent."
"Wasn't he the one who scouted Ms. Hae-In, right before she went in for her testing?"
Even though everyone was whispering, Ahn could hear them given that he was an awakened now. He knew that out of all the division heads, Ahn had the most talent in finding people with extraordinary ability or high ranking individuals even before they became someone worthy of note. His sense level was just too high to be compared to the average Joe.
[Skill Obtained: Eavesdropping - makes it easier to listen in on other people. Host is a very nosy person]
Hey! I wasn't even trying to be nosy....
[Host's ability to be nosy is beyond just a passive skill, this System thinks it should be an ultimate skill if Host was able to trigger gaining the skill without trying]
....
Ahn was not going to give up on his sanity just yet. He needed to keep a cool head, even with the system antagonizing him, instead of helpin... wait it was being helpful, but not being nice about it. Besides that he has read enough fanfictions and light novels with systems to figure out his way around this one. Personality and all.
[This System is glad that Host is able to rationalize his existence in a positive way. As a reward this System will not make fun of you for the next two sentences.]
Ahn at this point in time decided to stop reading the self important systems monolog and just move on with his day. Unless it was a notice or something worth noting, he is just going to ignore the system. If the system want's to be annoying then Ahn will just treat the system like a computer that doesn't work at full speed. Ignore it and hope the loading bar would move faster cause he isn't looking at it.
It was because of his high level sense that he even had this job. When he first applied he barely got in as a grunt, but over the course of 10 years he proved his mettle by brining in high ranking individuals and those with very good talent in their fields, whether that was tank, healer, assassin, etc. He would have gotten the First Division Chief, but he felt like it would be betraying the Second Division in which he grew up in. Besides the pay was only five thousand dollars more for almost double the headache, since First Division was exclusively for upper tier A ranks and any more S ranks that would come be part of the Tiger guild.
Shaking his head a little bit, Ahn breathed out and twisted the door to the office space.
"Good morning boss!"
Came a shout as Ahn walked into the floor office for the Second Division.
"Morning team! Lets get the day started. Please bring all relevant paperwork to my office, also someone run me through my appointments for the day."
While Ahn never had a real job in the corporate world, he had read books on management and leadership. On top of that he was here only to gather information, figure out his contract with the guild, and see if he can either wrestle a high position in the guild or the guild itself out of Baek Yoonho's hands. If neither of these works, then it was time to find a certain rich son to swind... convince to partner up with him.
"I got the reports here."
"I'm pulling hunter information now."
Slowly the machine that was Second Division was coming online for the day ahead of running reports and assessing talent happiness/contentment.
"Did you use the font Romans, letter size 12, double spaced, and one inch margins?"
"N...n..no sir!"
"What are you an idiot," Smack "Go re-do this and make sure its properly formatted! All these new interns are horrible, did they even finish middle school at this point.. gosh they just let anyone graduate and free them into the wild of the corporate world, huh."
"Section Junior Chief, please calm down. It's not his fault, he just started... oh wait, hasn't he been around for four months now! HEY IDIOT.... DO YOU WANNA GET FIRED... PUT YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!!!"
Ahn had glanced over when he heard the smack, but it was just the paper hitting the desk, for a second he thought that abuse like that in the office did happen, but he was just overthinking things.
"Good morning Mr. Ahn! Anyone you're interested in currently huh.. huh..?"
His second in command rushed in hyper as usual.
"Well, there's a couple of people I am interested in, but although that is the case, we will have to see since I am not fully up to date on the matter."
Ahn looked up to see Hyun slowly sitting down at his desk, curiosity was written all over his face.
Anyone that interests the boss must be someone special, are we going to get another Ms. Hae-In
Ahn looked at Hyuns' face get brighter and brighter.
"Whatever it is you are thinking, stop it. I don't have time for your fanciful ideas or wonderment today. Make sure that the reports that the team sends in is properly organized. I don't want any gates to be overlooked in the territories that we manage."
Ahn took a moment to dig around in his memories to find out the daily procedure outside talent scouting which his character was mostly remembered for. Thinking back on it, based on his last life's memories coupled with his new ones, the role of a division should be to handle certain areas and recruit members to that division to help that role in a guild. Even with areas that they "controlled" other guilds could compete for the permission to clear it. There were areas, like within a four block radius of the guilds HQ that each guild could secure 100% of the time, but outside that area was fair game.
"Yes Mr. Ahn, I'll get right on it!"
Once his deputy had his role engrained once again into his brain, Ahn looked at his computer screen. Since the gates started to appear it seemed that technology had started to improve at a terrifying speed as well as this looked like it was 10 or 20 years ahead of the tech that he used back in his last life. Though the hardware wasn't improved that much, he could tell that the programming was ahead of what he last remembered.
Hmmm, guess I should dabble in computers and programing once again, dust off the cobwebs from lack of use.
Ahn slowly got himself used to using the computer and all its applications, quickly he became a master due to his skill [Akashic Record].
"Now, lets see what you have been up to Mr. Jin-Woo."
The request for information was relatively simple and with the simple AI built in to the larger system, it was approved and sent back to Ahn. It showed that Jin Woo had not been in any gates higher than E in the past couple months, no double dungeon instance yet either. Though for some odd reason he was slotted to go into a D rank dungeon today.
My spidey senses are tingling. There's no way the bottom of the barrel E rank is being sent to a dungeon that even D ranks have to be wary of if the day of a dungeon break isn't imminent.
"Hyun, grab your coat... we are busting someone from the broke life today."
All of Ahns plans changed in that moment. He wasn't simply going to become the best Hunter, he's going to have the best hounds to help him hunt better, and what a better hound than God's own right hand man.
