The citizens were a bit stunned. The Serpent Gang members who had just terrified them were now being escorted away by a group of bald constables wielding knives.
The shouting of the gang members reached the ears of the crowd, instantly snapping them out of it.
"My heavens, this group of bald constables really went after the Serpent Gang!"
"Who are they?"
"I know them—they were just recently recruited as constables. The one leading them is their head."
"Aren't they afraid of the Serpent Gang's retaliation?"
To the citizens, the Serpent Gang was far more fearsome than the government. Even the government dared not confront the Serpent Gang head-on and often had to accommodate them.
But now the government constables were directly taking action—this was a clear challenge to the Serpent Gang.
Yet, for the citizens, this incident was somewhat thrilling.
They felt a flicker of hope for their lives.
If the government could eradicate the Serpent Gang, their days would be much better.
