"What about us?" she said in an astonishingly leveled voice.
"You two…" Richard's eyes traced her face, lingering at her mouth for a brief moment, then returned to her emerald orbs which so much confirmed his belief, "share so many things in common, yet you're so different." He paused. "Don't you think it's time you told me the truth?"
Just as she had guessed, he wanted to slyly goad her into admitting to something. And she wasn't going to make it easy for him either, whatever he wanted to hear. But what exactly?
"Stop beating around the bush and get to the point," she said with a smile as warm as a fox's.
If she didn't know better, she'd swear he was on the verge of piecing everything together. But Richard has no such ability, especially with his several failed attempts to dig into her personal information.
