"Leave us."
"Huh?" The soldier was about to retort but after seeing the intensity of Ark's golden pupils, he stepped out of the room and Ark shut the door behind him.
He sucked in a breath, the horrid smell of blood filling his nostrils. It was not a pleasant smell and yet Ark allowed it sink into his very being, he needed to remember this, this was a result of his failure.
Once he rose to his feet, he did something that no one had expected.
Ark grabbed onto Lauretta's neck and easily lifted her to her feet, his fingers tightening by the second.
"What the hell do you think you're—"
With a simple gesture, invisible distortions tore through the air, splitting right through Damian's shoulder and drawing blood.
Ark's message was clear, take a single step and I'll kill her on the spot. His hand was wrapped around her neck after all.
Damian gritted his teeth.
"What is the meaning of this? Emma, talk some sense into him!"
