Rexan dropped to her knees, her hands trembling as she looked up at Patricia with watery eyes.
"Please help me," she whispered, her voice cracking.
Patricia blinked in surprise but remained silent.
"I know it's too late for me to ask, but…" Rexan sniffed, struggling to compose herself.
"I've always been fascinated by zombie theories, thought they were cool, even. But now… I've lost everything. My home, my dad, my best friend. There's no home to go back to anymore." Her shoulders shook, tears tracing the raw contours of her face.
"If it's not too much to ask," she continued, her voice thick with emotion, "I just want a normal life. I want to become something, someone—worthwhile."
Patricia observed her quietly, her arms folded and jaw clenched. Finally, she exhaled deeply. "I can't."
