Chapter 129 - Spirit Crystal

I sat in the pavilion, staring into the distance. 

Anna was late. 

I didn't mind, of course, she was a good apprentice, and deserved a little leeway now and again. 

But, it did mean that I was stuck in the pavilion until she arrived. 

I should have brought a book. 

I looked around, something felt odd about the garden. A cold chill made its way down my spine. 

I sighed. 

I knew what it was. 

"Reveal yourself, spirit," I said, resigned to the whole situation. 

It had been happening more and more frequently of late. 

Dark spirits. 

Word had spread of the slaughter in the south.

Three dark spirits, black, and reptilian, cloaked in shadow, stood a few feet from the pavilion.

They bowed to me. 

- Master. Their voices were like a cold wind against my mind, making me shiver despite the morning summer heat. 

"Why are you here, spirits?" I asked. 

- We've come to greet the dark lord.

I shook my head. The other dark spirits had called me the same.
