"The Eternal Ember?!" Kyle's voice nearly cracked from the shock. Even Lucien, who was usually the calmest among them, had a flicker of burning greed in his eyes.
Lorne shot Kyle a surprised look. He'd pegged the guy as just another rookie like Ava—didn't expect this promising young apprentice to have actually heard of the Eternal Ember.
"Yes, the Eternal Ember," Lorne said. "No one has ever seen it with their own eyes, but ever since that legendary mage successfully traveled to another plane a thousand years ago, it's been believed to be one of the key artifacts used for interplanar travel."
