Van asked Jay about his walk. Jay told him the story except for the part about meeting Ethan. He's not comfortable telling that to Van.
"And you even managed to get home by yourself. " Van praised him. "Then how about you start running errands? "
"Errands?"
"I'm actually against it but this is actually your doctor's order." Van gave Jay a paper with a map on it. It's a map to the small hospital. Jay realized it but pretended not to notice. But the slight reaction couldn't get past Van. "Did you remember something? "
"Ah no. I was just wondering why the hospital?"
"Your attending doctor, actually works here. He is a friend of mine and the only one I can trust that can handle you."
Jay just looked at the paper reminiscing about yesterday's encounter with Ethan.
"Off you go now, your doctor's waiting."
Jay excitedly stood up and was about to go back to his room to get ready.
"Aren't you going to take the map? Or did you memorize the route already."
"Ah right."
Jay forgot that he kept going to the hospital yesterday a secret fron Van.
Van sees Jay off. He's standing on the door way leaning one side of the door jamb. He's wearing a reading glasses and long cardigan. Jay used to like this sight. The relaxed and homey vibe of Van but Jay just walked out the gate without looking back.
When Jay arrived at the hospital, the doctor is already waiting at the lobby. The doctor lead the way to his office. While walking, Jay is busy looking around for a familiar face.
"You've actually been to the hospital before. " Jay became nervous with the doctor's statement. He must've seen him yesterday. "Before your accident, you used to visit with Van. "
They've entered his office. The doctor let Jay wander around. He saw a picture of him carrying a little girl and with Van and the Doctor. Looking at the picture, The three of them are really close reason why Van stated he can trust him.
"Do you remember her?"
Jay shook his head in response.
"Doctor,"
"Call me Eli. We're close friends so call me by my first name."
"Eli, why did you want to see me today?"
"Right. Sit here." Eli went into doctor mode and sat on his chair. "You actually had a speedy recovery and your last X-ray shows your arms are already healed. So I suggest we remove the cast today."
Jay clutched his casted arm with his left arm.
"Once I got my cast off does that mean I won't have a reason to visit the hospital?"
" Well, you still have a memory loss so you still need to visit the hospital once a week." Jay's face lightened up with Eli's response. It means the chance of meeting Ethan again will be higher. "You can visit any time. I mean you used to, even though you don't need medical attention."
They proceeded taking the cast off. It was about time for Jay to go home.
"Eli, can I ask a question?"
"Sure."
"About..." Jay stopped. He was about to ask for the patient Daniel. If Eli knows about him but he's not sure if it is okay to ask. Meanwhile, Eli interprered Jay's action as being shy to ask about Van.
" If you want to get to know him, it woukd be better to ask him yourself. Let me tell you this, you're both madly in love with each other. You're the only one who can tolerate Van.
I know he's a bit overprotective but all of that is because he's crazy deeply in love with you."
Jay just smiled and looked down. He somehow felt down. He knew that Eli and Van both want him to gain back his memories so everything will be back to normal. But a part of Jay, doesn't want to go back. He can't seem to find the idea of falling in love with Van a reality.
Jay said his goodbye to Eli. Instead of immediately exiting the hospital, Jay went to the directions of the private rooms. More specifically, he went to Daniel's room just to take a peek if Ethan's around. To his disappointment, Ethan's absent.
He is now walking back home where Van is waiting for him. He continued his thoughts during the journey.
If he was madly in love Van, then why does the presence of Ethan makes him more elated. Why does he want to see Ethan rather than Van? And with that thought, he saw a flower shop. He wondered if it has the black pansy.
As the door chime ringed, the different smell of flowers welcomed Jay. The sunlight from the window, the wooden interiors, the green leaves and the different kind of flowers. These gave him a familiar feeling. He got more relaxed and somehow hopeful.
"Maybe I should buy something to display at home." But the shop owner is no where to be found. Still, Jay decided to wait.
While Jay is contemplating which flowers he should buy, the door chimed once again. It's the shop employee.
"I'm sorry I didn't notice there was a customer. I was just helping out another customer to...." The employee stopped mid sentence as Jay turned around. Jay's eyes widened and reflected the sunlight as if they're sparkling. He involuntarily let out a smile as he realized the shop employee is Ethan.
"Jay, right? What are you doing here?"
"I was on my way home then the flower shop caught my attention. You're a florist?"
"I'm just a part timer. Helping out for an extra cash. "
"Are you on you're way back from the hospital?" Ethan pointed Jay's right arm.
" Ah yes, I got my cast off. Why weren't you at the hospital?"
"Did you look for me? "
" No... I ... umm.... since you're here... I'm pretty sure that... means you're not at the hospital." Jay smiled awkwardly. He knows full well that what Ethan stated the truth. He did look for him.
"Right. Silly me. "
There was silence for a minute. And to break it, Ethan had an idea. He started picking out flowers. Jay's eyes are just following him. Ethan started making a bouquet made of White Lily and Yellow Roses wrapped in a pastel green paper.
"For you." Ethan gave Jay the bouquet. Jay's heart skipped a beat and he can feel his cheeks getting hotter. "Its a gift. These flowers means congratulations. I would like to congratulate you for taking off your arm cast."
Jay took the flowers. He can't help his smile forming. He had this urge to hug Ethan with overjoy but decided to repress it. The thought of instead of Van, he wished the lover he has is Ethan.
Jay then remebered than Van is waiting at home. Van might get suspicious if Jay stayed longer.
"Thank you for the flowers." Jay was about to go out but Ethan's word made him halt.
"Come Again."
Jay wanted to reply that he definitely will be coming back but decided not to.
Jay got home for lunch. Van was waiting inside by the door as he heard their gate.
"I'm home"
Van's eyes widened with shock. He hurriedly took the flowers from Jay's hands. He started inspecting Jay's eyes,skin and his breathing.
"Where did you get the flowers?"
Jay decided to keep from Van that it was a gift. "I thought it's beautiful so I bought it."
"Why would you buy flowers?"
"Why wouldn't I? "
"Because you're allergic to flowers."
