Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 – Beneath His Watchful Eyes

The air in the mansion was heavy, thick with an unspoken tension that wrapped around Heaven like invisible chains. She sat on the bed, forcing down the last bite of food, her mind racing with possibilities. Escape. It was the only thing she could think about. But how? Dylan had eyes everywhere, and she knew that even the slightest misstep could put her brother in danger.

She had to be careful.

A knock on the door snapped her out of her thoughts. Before she could answer, the door swung open, and Dylan stepped inside. His piercing gaze swept over her, taking in her pale face and the empty plate beside her. His lips curled into a smirk.

"Good girl," he drawled, stepping closer. "You finally learned how to listen."

Heaven clenched her jaw, refusing to respond. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction.

Dylan chuckled, clearly amused by her silence. He pulled a chair beside the bed and sat down, resting his elbow on the armrest as he studied her. "You don't talk much when you're weak, do you?" He leaned forward slightly, his voice dropping into something almost… soft. "Tell me, kitten, are you afraid of me?"

Heaven met his gaze, her heart pounding. She knew the answer he wanted, but she refused to give it. Instead, she lifted her chin. "No."

The amusement in Dylan's eyes darkened into something unreadable. He reached out, tracing a single finger down her arm, the touch light but enough to send a shiver through her. "Liar," he murmured.

She swallowed but didn't break eye contact. "I'm not afraid of you," she repeated, her voice steady.

Dylan's smirk returned, but this time, there was something more dangerous about it. "You should be," he whispered, before standing abruptly. "Get some rest. I don't like my toys breaking too easily."

With that, he turned and walked toward the door.

But before he left, he paused. "Oh, and Heaven?" He glanced over his shoulder, his eyes gleaming. "Don't do anything stupid."

The warning was clear.

As the door closed behind him, Heaven let out a shaky breath.

He knew.

Somehow, Dylan already knew she was planning something.

And that terrified her more than anything.
