Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Torrential Rain, Flash Flood, New Bed Sheets

In the known universe, nothing could compare to an Aeon.

Even the most powerful Emanators were capable of destroying star systems and roaming the universe at will. But even beings as powerful as them stood no chance before a true Aeon.

"!!! Do you realize what you're saying?!" Jing Yuan's once-relaxed expression vanished instantly. His tone became grave, and even his other eye was slightly revealed. His body instinctively straightened—not entirely upright, but at least his attitude was clear.

"I'm not certain, but all signs point to this possibility. Ji Yi, by the age standards of the Xianzhou, should be middle-aged, about time for developing symptoms of Mara. Yet after spending only a short time in Jarilo and meeting that Beast God a few times, he felt completely at ease. Even all his data indicates a genuine alleviation!"

----------------------------

The screen went black.

Jing Yuan frowned slightly, pressing his right index finger on the chess piece bit by bit.

The information given by Yukong was too shocking. If it were true, the Mara that had troubled the Xianzhou for thousands of years would finally be resolved.

If this news got out, Jarilo would be in danger.

"Heh, I was wondering why they picked this timing." Shaking his head, he lay in the chair in a daze for a moment before suddenly getting up.

"Forget it. Why think so much? Let's go re-watch the video of Yanqing getting beaten."

...

After hanging up the communication, Yukong deliberately checked the backup system, which had been turned off from the beginning, then checked the room and the surroundings again. Only after ensuring everything was fine did he leave.

...

Interasteral Peace Corporation.

A staff member assigned by Topaz to observe Jarilo and its surrounding star systems.

"What is this?" A lush, green planet suddenly appeared on the screen.

Beautiful planets in the universe were not uncommon, so the observer was not particularly curious.

But when the view zoomed out, a whole disciplined fleet was clearly stationed near Jarilo—no, there were no signs of concealment at all!

The next second, the employee let out a sharp alarm.

"Supervisor Topaz! The Xianzhou is attacking Jarilo!"

...

A peaceful time.

Everyone was enjoying the best moments of life.

"Boom!" A single thunderclap awakened the sleeping flower buds.

"Is it going to rain?" Hook, who had just finished homework and was about to rush outside with her little digging machine, immediately pulled a long face.

"Hehe, there's nothing we can do, Hook. The weather is always unpredictable." With nothing to worry about, Cocolia sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, chuckling as she watched Hook return disappointed.

Looking at the gathering dark clouds in the sky, she wondered whether she should assign Hook some homework about the climate.

Pela, holding a tablet, adjusted her glasses and looked at the rapidly accumulating clouds covering the sky at a visible speed with some concern.

"Madam Cocolia, based on recent cloud patterns, Belobog shouldn't have such massive storm clouds."

Cocolia chuckled. "Weather is inherently hard to predict, and there are always influencing factors. Sometimes, inaccuracies are inevitable. Once Jarilo's technology advances, we won't have these issues anymore."

These days, scientists from the Xianzhou had been helping them improve their technological level.Technological progress couldn't happen overnight, so they decided to guide Belobog's scientists in their own thinking process. Though the progress was slow, there were new developments every day, which put Cocolia in an excellent mood.

Pela nodded. Though still somewhat concerned, she chose to set it aside.

...

Meanwhile, Bronya and her group, who were outside, looked at the incoming clouds helplessly."Let's call it a day. Everyone, find a place to take shelter from the rain."

Soon, the rain began to fall—first as droplets, then a downpour, eventually merging into continuous streaks.

"What a heavy rain. Looks like we'll have a good harvest this year."

Taking off her gloves, she extended her hand, feeling the cool rain gathering in her palm. Bronya couldn't help but smile.

"Belobog has a good harvest every year. Personally, I'd rather take a fishing rod and go fishing."

"Fishing? A lot of people on the Xianzhou love fishing. I often see elderly men sitting by the lake with their fishing rods all day. Some even have their wives accompanying them."

"Ugh!"

Watching the group feign heartbreak, Bronya covered her mouth and laughed, feeling particularly cheerful.

The rain grew heavier and heavier. Gradually, in an unnoticed corner, the accumulated water had unknowingly overflowed the steps and was surging toward the crowd.

"Eh! So cold!"

Someone accidentally touched it, and the moment their foot, clad in open-toed sandals, came into contact with the water, they instinctively retracted it from the sudden chill.

This exclamation drew everyone's attention.

"It actually rose this high." Bronya frowned slightly.

Rain was a good thing, but continuous heavy rain was not necessarily so.

Especially this particular downpour.

...

Yukong sat down slowly across from Cocolia.

"This rain is unusual."

Cocolia no longer had her initial indifference.

"Belobog rarely experiences such heavy rainfall." She gripped Hook's test paper slightly harder, crumpling it in the process.

"Lady Cocolia, just now, Belobog's precipitation level has surpassed seventy milliliters and is still rising. This is not a spring rain—this is a flood!"

Pela's expression was serious. As she said, this was no ordinary rainfall anymore.

For now, Belobog's renovated drainage system could still hold up against the current precipitation, but if this continued…

"This can't go on. Quickly notify all departments to prepare disaster prevention measures! Where is Bronya?"

"The Grand Guardian set out with a team not long ago. They're probably taking shelter from the rain somewhere now."

"There's no time to inform them. Get everyone moving immediately!"

"Yes!"

"I'll help as well."

"Thank you very much, Miss Yukong."

What was supposed to be a pleasant spring rain that allowed people to pause and rest had gradually turned into a disastrous flood, throwing everyone into chaos.

The people of Belobog lacked effective methods to handle a flood. They had only just started to recover from the hardships of Jarilo-VI.

Fortunately, aside from a few people caught outside, the residents of Belobog could still hold out for a while thanks to the intact drainage system.

...

"What a heavy rain... Do you think Belobog will be alright?"

"Fortune favors the strong. The people of Belobog, who have stood firm on Jarilo-VI for hundreds of years, will not be defeated by a mere rainfall," Tingyun reassured.

Serval gazed toward Belobog with concern.

They were sheltering from the rain inside a small experimental hut Serval had set up.

The room was filled with Serval's experimental gadgets.

"Boom!"

The sudden loud noise startled both of them. They turned toward the direction of the sound and saw that part of a mountain peak in the distance had collapsed due to the relentless rain.

The mountain was some distance from Belobog, but with the floodwaters carrying mud and debris from the peak, it was obvious that Belobog would be affected.

"A landslide! Damn it, I should have thought of this earlier!"

Serval smacked her forehead in frustration.

She should have anticipated that such heavy rain would cause a landslide, but having only recently adapted from an environment of endless snow, she had overlooked this possibility.

"We need to warn them immediately."

Tingyun frowned slightly. She believed that Yukong, Yanqing, and the others would be fine, but the people of Belobog were not like them—they lacked the ability to escape disasters on their own.

The commotion, combined with the recent loud noise, successfully disturbed a napping Godzilla.

"So noisy."

Opening his eyes, his vertical pupils, filled with lingering sleepiness, ignored everything else and locked onto the source of the landslide. Then, he glanced up at the sky.

"Rain, rain, rain… Are you trying to make me live in the ocean?"

Godzilla didn't dislike living in the ocean, but this rain had already soaked his new bedsheets (the minerals from Xianzhou was made into a layer by Godzilla)!

And they were brand-new!
