When I woke up in the morning, I immediately noticed that I was alone in the room. "It's been a while since I woke up and no one was here...", I spoke out loud to myself. I knew it would come one day, but it was still hard to accept. I had to let it go for now, even though I didn't want to. Plus I have to be here for Rudy today. I know he has severe trauma, and I want to be there for him, even though today is Roxy's job.
I was ready to go. I adjusted my appearance, got dressed, and put on the mask of a calm and composed child, as I always did. I walked downstairs and noticed everyone already waiting for me. I quickly spoke, "Good morning," and turned to Roxy. "I'm sorry for my behavior yesterday, I knew it would come one day, but I couldn't deal with it."
With that she patted me on the head and replied, "I know it's hard for you, I've grown fond of you too, but it's part of life. Someone leaves and someone new comes along."
I could only manage a shake of my head. Then I sat down at the table and acted like nothing had happened. It was clear that I couldn't show how much it all affected me. I had to focus on what was in front of me.
After breakfast we mounted our horses and set off to meet the test. The process of Rudy getting rid of his trauma went exactly as expected, just like in the canon. After all, I had no way to interfere. I hadn't been out properly myself, there was no reason to. Except to get rid of Laplace, of course.
I must say, our village was beautiful. I've always admired the ancient style. The castles, the palaces, and the huts the villagers had were fascinating. I noticed how everyone greeted Roxy with gratitude and tenderness. She was a woman who had done a lot for them.
When we arrived at the site, it was beautifully sunny. I have to say, I really haven't seen a nicer place in my two lives. The place Roxy had chosen was a large green meadow. So this is where the rehearsal will take place? I'm going to use some powerful magic here for the first time in front of the family.
Roxy, as a final test, chose to perform a holy-level water spell. After explaining why we were here, Roxy began to incant, "Great water spirit and magnificent prince of lightning descending from the heavens, grant me my wish and grant me your fierce blessing…"
As she began to curse, the sky began to cloud over and the wind picked up sharply. She continued, "Show your power to the insignificant beings. Command our respect as you strike your divine hammer on the anvil..." The wind was getting stronger and stronger, yet Roxy kept going: "And cover the whole earth with water! Oh, rain, wash everything away and erase it from the face of the earth!"
With that word, a torrential rain descended from the sky and Roxy shouted, "Comulonimbus!" The wind and the rain increased, and at that moment all that could be seen was darkness, and at that moment a bolt of lightning came straight at our horse.
Then the rain stopped and we went to take care of the horse. Once the horse was okay, it was our turn. Rudy was the first to go. His spell was absolutely brilliant, even though it was almost identical to Roxy's, the power was undeniable. Even at such a young age, he had already brought this spell up to Roxy's power, which is amazing. I have to say, I'm really proud of him. But with that, it was my turn.
As I was preparing to begin the spell, Rachel spoke in my head.
I was amazed, it had been a long time since Rachel had spoken to me on her own. "Do you really want me to change the incantation? Then so be it!"
With that, I started cursing and waving my wand like an idiot. "Great Spirit of Water and Prince of Lightning! Do my bidding!" With that, I heard shouts from afar as to why I was changing the incantation, but I wasn't going to pay attention to it and continued. "Show your power, show it off!"
The wind picked up brutally at this moment, the rain began to fall heavily, but I didn't stop. "Show your power to insignificant beings, force their respect with a blow that will shake heaven and earth." Lightning bolts whipped around me, bearing a red color just like my eyes.
Still I continued, "Rain, wash away everything! Lightning, if you burn, leave no trace!" I was nearing the end and a massive tornado was forming around us. At that moment I shouted, "CUMULONIMBUS!" A red glow erupted from my wand and my eyes. After a while, the rain settled down and calmed down. The first things I saw were the astonished looks of Rudy and Roxy, who immediately ran up to me.
I knew what was coming. Rudy was visibly excited, but the same could not be said for Roxy, who immediately spoke up, "What on earth were you thinking?! You know how dangerous it is to change the spell! Why did you do it?" I could see the concern on her face, rather than anger.
I didn't know what to say to her other than, "I felt that way, I'm sorry..." I really was sorry that she was worried about me, but as Rachel said, I'm something bigger than some force of nature. After a while, Roxy calmed down and asked me not to do that anymore. She then congratulated us on achieving the title of holy level water mages.
After all that, we returned home, and that evening Roxy left us. I won't lie, I cried, and I wasn't the only one. Everybody cried. With that, I went back to my room and saw Kuray for the first time in a long time. After all, he can communicate telepathically, so there's no need for him to always come out of the shadows.
When I asked him to come out, darkness spread in my room and he came out of it. Unlike previous mistakes, I formed a barrier so that neither my signature nor his could be felt. After a long hug from Kurai, I asked him to run and hide in Roxy's shadow to protect her if she was in danger of dying. Then Kuray disappeared into the shadows, and I dove straight into bed and went to sleep....
