Chapter 137 - 137. Being followed

The young Teike boy had been traveling with General Csito's troops for a few months when it all began. Kamu returned to his old habit of hiding in different parts of the camp whenever he could and pretending to fall asleep. This trick worked so well that after a few months no one even noticed him when he played sleep and continued the conversation calmly, whether the boy was there or not.

It so happened that one day, when he was resting on the edge of the camp, he overheard a strange conversation. At first, he only heard the soldiers talking about Athira, then he heard his real father's name. After that, Kamu made a special effort to "sleep" near those people as much as possible. Thanks to this, he learned that that group of people were planning with his late father against Athira.

Although Teike was still anxious around General Csito, or Athira as he always called him, but he no longer ran away from him, Kamu still had no problem with the leader of the hegins though. In fact, to tell the truth, he was grateful to the man who had gifted him with a new family. So the young Kamu was particularly annoyed by the rebels' plans.

"What do you want to do against them?" Teike asked him one evening, and the young Kamu looked back at him with a completely emotionless look.

"What I did last time. I'll make sure none of them can do it." The boy announced and after that very evening he escaped from their yurt to take a man's life. The next day in the camp, they sadly learned that they would have to travel further with one less warrior. At that time, no one suspected that many people would die like this in the coming days.

Kamu did kill about one person every week, to slowly eliminate the rebels before they could find a new leader to replace his former father. He always committed the murders at night and used all the knowledge that his former father, current mother, and Teike had taught him so that no one would notice him when he worked.

"Wait! Were you the Night Guta?" Kele's eyes widened in the present, and the ghost-man smiled contentedly.

"I never liked that nickname." The leader of the Immortal Mist shrugged.

As the weeks passed, rumors spread among General Csito's troops that a demon or a hungry ghost was haunting the camp. However, since neither Etele nor Inepta could find or drive away the creature, the camp had no choice but to learn to live with the situation.

"He is here again." Kamu didn't even turn around when he heard the voice of the ghost king. He just glanced at him sideways before grinning and rushing into the yurt. "Ah, you want to let him see you." Teike laughed out loud. "Are you curious about how he'll react?" The ghost king asked.

"If you don't shut up, I swear I won't listen to you for a week!" Kamu glared at Teike angrily as he cleaned his weapon, then quietly slipped out of the yurt and headed towards a more deserted part of the camp. He could constantly feel the stranger's energies behind him.

"Will you kill him?" The ghost king asked. However, Kamu only glanced sideways at him, indicating that his earlier threat was still valid. "Okay, okay, I shut up." Teike chuckled, but continued to walk beside Kamu, only with his back to the direction of travel, looking at the stranger who was following them.

"I know you're there." Kamu spoke loudly as he stopped at the edge of the camp.

"I'll go see if anyone is coming!" Teike raised his arms.

"There's no point in hiding, so you could just come out." Kamu turned to look at the nearby yurts, hoping to see his stalker. "Why are you following me?" The young boy asked, but he didn't get an answer.

"Here he is!" Teike appeared next to one of the yurts on the left and pointed behind it.

"Come out, damn it!" Kamu growled and even stomped on the ground.

"Okay, don't be so angry." A boy dressed in yellow stepped out of one of the yurts.

"Why did you follow me?" Kamu stepped closer to him, one hand on his weapon.

"Because one night I saw you come out of the victim's yurt. You can recognize the Koál outfit." The stranger rolled his eyes.

"In this case, I have no other choice..." Kamu began in a serious voice, and the yellow-clothed boy's eyes began to sparkle and he spoke with a grin.

"Do you have to kill me? Tell me you have to kill me!" He pleaded enthusiastically.

"What? Do you want to die?" The young Teike blinked in confusion and lowered his hand.

"No way! I'm just curious how you'd do it." He shrugged. "I've never seen anyone who can disappear like you." The young boy's eyes sparkled. "Although, if you ask me, poison is more effective, but not many share my opinion." The young man, who was about the same age as the Teike boy, in his late teens, folded his arms in front of him.

"Koál Kamu." The young killer extended his hand to the stranger. "You?"

"Szotvard Ajtony." The boy shook the hand extended towards him.

"Ajtony, how about we try one of your poisons on the next bastard?" Kamu nodded towards the yurts, a wicked half-smile on his lips, the counterpart of which immediately appeared on the Szotvard boy's face.

"Oh, we are going to be allies?" He asked with genuine enthusiasm in his voice.

"A person like you would be useful to get rid of those who want to take out Athira." Kamu said with a slightly crazy smile on his face.

"I'm in, but..." Ajtony grimaced a little.

"What?" Kamu looked questioningly at the yellow dress.

"Maybe one or two other people... You know..." The boy explained.

"Could we kill them?" Kamu asked with a chuckle.

"Yeah, that." Ajtony nodded.

"Well, if they deserve it, then definitely." The Teike boy shrugged. "So my partner..." Kamu suddenly turned to Ajtony, who was looking at his new friend suspiciously. "What poisons do you have exactly?" He asked with a wide grin on his lips.

"Oh, I have a whole collection. Just tell me what you need it for and I'm sure I'll find something, or if not..." He rubbed his hands together here. "Then I'll figure something out." He suddenly felt a little uncertain. "If you don't mind me experimenting." He spread his arms.

"How on earth would I be against that? I've never seen poison in action before." Kamu laughed. "Experimenting doesn't hurt anyone. Think about how effective it would be if, say, this beauty..." Here Kamu pulled his dagger from his belt and turned it in his hand. "Would be able to kill someone in two or three days even if I just nick them somewhere." He raised the idea.

"I already have an idea of which poison could be used for this." Ajtony's eyes sparkled.

"You good ancestors. Daimons protect anyone who gets on your bad side, children." Teike laughed as he slowly faded from his offspring's eyes.
