To be honest, Kaze never had much interaction with Shisui.
There was no personal grudge between them.
But their worldviews, values, and positions were completely opposed.
Anyone familiar with Naruto knows exactly what kind of person Shisui is.
He embodies the Will of Fire to the fullest.
And worse, his Sharingan is a direct counter to Kaze's Rumble-Rumble Fruit abilities.
'Shisui possesses Kotoamatsukami, the strongest genjutsu in the world of Naruto. It can completely rewrite a person's will.'
Even if he is an ally, Kaze would have to stay on guard. Let alone if he becomes an enemy.
In fact, Kaze had his doubts—was Itachi's decision to slaughter his clan really his own? Or had he already fallen under the influence of Kotoamatsukami from the very start?
(T/N: What kind of BS is this? Though everyone has their own views, but I don't think this would be true.)
Letting someone like Shisui roam free was the biggest threat to anyone opposing the village's leadership.
'And if I remember right, if things go the same way they did originally, Shisui not only confesses the Uchiha clan's coup plans to the Konoha higher-ups, but also reveals his ultimate trump card—Kotoamatsukami—without holding anything back. In the end, it gets him killed, with Danzo stealing one of his eyes.'
Kaze recalled the events of the original story.
Even after Danzo gouged out his eye, Shisui still trusted Konoha's higher-ups.
He gave his remaining eye to Uchiha Itachi and willingly ended his own life.
Which, in turn, awakened Itachi's Mangekyō Sharingan.
That's right…
Right now, Itachi hasn't awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan yet—he only had the standard three-tomoe.
His genjutsu? Kaze could counter it with his own Sharingan without much trouble.
So for now, he wasn't a major threat.
But Shisui…
He was already dangerous enough to make Kaze lose sleep.
'As long as Shisui is alive, I can't rest easy.'
The most crucial detail was something Kaze remembered clearly—
Before meeting with Danzo, Shisui had actually consulted Itachi about the matter.
Itachi had predicted that Shisui was walking into a trap, which allowed him to intervene just in time and rescue him from Root's assassins.
That meant…
If Kaze could plant the seeds of doubt in Danzo's mind and push him to act earlier than expected—
Itachi might not make it in time to save Shisui.
And that would mean…
Kaze would have a chance to claim the other eye.
(T/N: Interesting. Now this has piqued my attention, I wonder how this would go?)
This was exactly why Kaze had hyped up Shisui's strength so much in front of Konoha's higher-ups.
He even went as far as to compare him to Uchiha Madara.
And deep down, Kaze knew, Danzo would never trust Shisui, no matter how loyal he was to Konoha.
Using someone else's blade to kill—this was simply that in action.
Of course…
There was a way to unravel Kaze's scheme.
All they had to do was truly believe that Shisui embodied the Will of Fire, that his heart was dedicated solely to the village.
But let's be real—
Could Danzo ever bring himself to trust an Uchiha?
If he did, his entire persona would collapse.
Which meant…
This was a checkmate.
A perfect, open conspiracy.
"Enough, Kaze."
Shisui suddenly shot up from his seat.
It was clear he never expected Kaze to speak to Konoha's higher-ups in such a manner.
Afraid that this conversation would spiral out of control, he quickly tried to put a stop to it.
But Kaze wasn't done yet.
"All I'm saying is that Konoha's strength is not inferior to the Hidden Cloud Village's," Kaze said casually, sparing Shisui a glance.
Anyone could see it—Shisui, the ever-composed, was flustered.
His reaction would now be a thorn in Danzo's heart, an itch he couldn't ignore.
In fact, Kaze could already sense it—
Danzo's gaze toward Shisui had changed.
"We of the Uchiha Clan are willing to fight for Konoha, to battle the Hidden Cloud to the bitter end! But I cannot accept such cowardly concessions!"
"Now, if you'll excuse me—"
Having said his piece, Kaze placed a hand on his knee, pushing himself up to leave.
His goal had already been achieved.
There was no reason to stay any longer.
Besides, Kaze was certain that after his speech, Konoha's higher-ups wouldn't dare force the Hyuga Clan to hand over Hizashi's body. Even if those elder clan members had just a shred of dignity left, they would refuse.
But if Kaze just walked out of there as if he owned the place…
That would be nothing less than a slap to the so-called authority of Konoha's leadership.
"Kaze!"
At last, Sarutobi Hiruzen—who had remained calm throughout the meeting—finally lost his composure, raising his voice to stop Kaze.
But in that very moment—
Danzo had already made his decision.
A Uchiha like Kaze—sharp, unyielding, unwilling to sacrifice himself for the village—was a threat.
And in Danzo's mind, threats were eliminated.
"Torune!"
His low voice carried a chilling edge.
The name he called belonged to Aburame Torune a shinobi who had once served alongside Orochimaru as one of Danzo's bodyguards during the Third Shinobi War.
At Danzo's command, Torune shot out from the shadows, his movements swift and decisive.
There was no hesitation.
The intent was clear—kill Kaze right here, in front of everyone, and hand his corpse over to the Land of Lightning.
Not only would this silence the growing discord, but it would also serve as a brutal lesson to both the Uchiha and the Hyuga.
A reminder—
That challenging Konoha's leadership meant death.
"STOP, DANZO!"
Sarutobi Hiruzen hadn't expected Danzo to order an attack so suddenly.
His expression darkened as he immediately moved to intervene.
(T/N: Damn, well its time to say good bye to Torune.)
But his voice came too late.
In just two breaths, Torune appeared behind Kaze. He raised both arms, his palms fully opened, and reached toward Kaze's neck.
"Phosphorous Worms!"
Torune's right hand turned purple at a speed visible to the naked eye.
"That's... the Aburame Clan's secret technique!"
Fugaku, seeing Torune make his move, immediately became agitated. "Move, Kaze!"
"That jutsu can implant nanoscale poison bugs into the body. Once he touches you, the bugs will flow into your body and destroy your cells."
From Fugaku's perspective, once Torune had Kaze's throat locked, the phosphorous bugs inside Kaze's body would quickly claim his life.
Almost simultaneously, Fugaku began forming hand seals, planning to use the Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu to force Torune back.
But his hand seals were still a step too slow.
Just as he finished the Tiger Seal, Torune's five fingers had already gripped Kaze's neck.
The nanoscale poison bugs, under Torune's mental control, began to surge into Kaze's skin uncontrollably.
The Aburame Clan's secret technique was well-known among the ninjas present.
Danzo even smirked, a faint smile appearing on his face.
He wanted to show the entire Uchiha Clan what happens when you defy Konoha's higher-ups!
However…
Just as Danzo was certain Kaze was as good as dead, a flash of lightning suddenly erupted from Kaze's body!
The dazzling light exploded outward in all directions, illuminating the small meeting room as if it were midday.
The hand that had firmly gripped Kaze's neck, crawling with phosphorous bugs, suddenly felt… empty. The force Torune had exerted caused his fingers to curl up, forming a fist—grasping at nothing but air.
Yet, the strangest thing wasn't just that.
Kaze hadn't vanished. He was still standing right in front of Torune. But somehow, Torune's hand had sunk deep into his body, as if plunging into flowing water.
And in the next second—
Kaze's nape, which should have been facing him just a moment ago, was now staring at him with a pair of glowing red eyes.
The Sharingan spun ominously, its crimson light casting eerie reflections in Ryouma's horrified gaze.
A chill ran down his spine.
Before he could even process what was happening, the phosphorous bugs that had burrowed into Kaze's body were incinerated in an instant, turned to ashes by the sheer heat radiating from him!
And then—pain.
An indescribable, excruciating pain.
It felt as though thousands of sharp knives were slicing through Torune's hand, carving into his flesh without mercy.
"AAAHHHHHH!"
(T/N: Eh, Root have emotions?)
A spine-chilling scream ripped through the meeting room. Torune staggered backward, desperately trying to yank his arm away. His instincts screamed at him to escape—his very survival demanded it.
But Kaze wasn't about to let him off so easily.
Seeing his attacker retreat, Kaze's lips curled into a playful smirk.
"Now, now, Torune-san…" he mused, tilting his head slightly as his grip shot forward, fingers clamping around Torune's throat.
"If you had the guts to strike at me—"
His hand tightened, and his eyes gleamed with a wicked glint.
"—I hope you're prepared to die as well."
Then, with a spark of amusement dancing in his gaze, Kaze unleashed a surge of electricity straight into Torune's body.
"Lightning Release: 100,000 Volts!"
Brilliant arcs of lightning crackled, racing across Torune's convulsing form. His body jerked violently, mouth opening in a silent scream as the searing current tore through his nervous system, frying him from the inside out.
(T/N: Well, rest in piss, Torune. You will never be missed. Anyway, hope you all enjoyed this chapter. Also, what do you think of the reworked fight scene? Honestly, I feel like the OG author had no clue how to write one properly, so I went in and cleaned it up. Also fixed the naming while I was at it.
P.S.: For those wondering—yes, Aburame Torune is the correct name. But in basically every Chinese fanfic, they end up calling him Ryouma instead. Maybe you can't write Torune in Chinese, I'm not sure.)
