Chapter 11 - Runes

After the battle between Merlin's shadow wolves and the horde of the snow wolves concluded, they walked over to soul rift exit and placed their hands on it together and left the soul rift Frozen Fang. They were teleported outside the soul rift and the guards who were guarding the soul rift were surprised to see them coming out alive.

Although they were surprised, they didn't allow it to be shown on their face. When they first saw these kids that entered the soul rift, they thought that they were some ignorant or overconfident brats that thought that Level 5 soul Soldier soul rift was easy. They all thought that these kids will be killed by the first soul beast they saw but them coming out of this rift alive meant that they were extremely skilled fighters even the aura that they gave off was that of a seasoned fighter.

One guard went up to them with amazing speed. "You three have a lot of potential, if you ever get your hunter's license, please consider joining our guild," he said with a smile as he handed them a card which was written Flaming Tiger guild. Keith took the card and said thank you to the guard. The three got out of the building.

"Merlin may you please give me the pelts and I will go and sell them," Keith said.

"What if we go together because I have a lot of pelts in my shadow." They both stared at Kayla and said, "Do you want to come too?"

"No, I'm a bit tired from fighting that many wolves so I'll go book a hotel room," she said as she went to a different direction. Keith and Merlin ventured into the city looking for a shop where they could sell their hides. They ventured further into the city making a few turns here and there until they found it. They got inside through the glass door and went to the counter and asked the receptionist how much money they would get for selling the pelts.

"Since these pelts are from snow wolves and they happen to be in good shape, I will buy them for 99 silver soul coins," she said. The currency in this world is just the same as the currency in the medieval era. One hundred bronze soul coins are equivalent to one silver soul coins, one hundred silver soul coins is equivalent to one gold soul coins.

The two of them took the silver coins and went out of the shop. Keith took his phone from his phone and dialed a number and called Kayla. "Kayla which hotel did you book?" Keith asked.

"Moonlight hotel," she answered as she cut the call. Keith went online and looked for the hotel. After finding the location the both of them got a cab and told the driver to get them to Moonlight hotel. They reached Moonlight in less than few seconds. They paid the driver 5 bronze coins and got out of the car.

They entered the hotel and booked two different rooms which were next to Kayla's room. Keith lay on his bed and started thinking of ways of to get stronger in the fastest way possible. The reason why he wanted to get stronger fast is because he wanted to get revenge for what happened to his universe and the other reason is for him to find his big sister.

He started recalling memories of him being in other worlds such as cultivation worlds were the people in those worlds also known as cultivators would absorb an energy known as qi to strengthen their bodies and increase their power. In the world that he was in qi didn't exist so that means he would have to use a substitute energy. He would use soul essence and instead of absorbing it through the use of his soul circuits he would absorb soul essence using a breathing technique.

He sat down on his bed in a lotus position and breathed in and out. With each breath he would absorb a lot of soul essence. He circulated the soul essence around his body. He directed the soul essence to his bones, blood vessels, muscles and his skin. He repeated this process for three hours and when he stopped cultivating, he saw a series of notifications.

"This feels great but it's still not enough. I have to create some stat enhancement runes to further increase my strength," he muttered to himself. Keith in his past life was Runemaster. He could create runes and arrays that could destroy entire universes or even rebuild them so creating stat enhancement pills will be a piece of cake for him. "I will only create a strength rune and an agility rune for now."

He went on the online store and ordered all the ingredients needed for the runes. He would need the blood of a one-eyed blood ogre for the strength pill and for the agility rune he would the blood of a gale wolf. When he checked online, he noticed that the ingredients he needed weren't available online.

He decided to find soul rifts that have soul beasts such as the one-eyed blood ogre and the gale wolf and he found them but the rifts were owned by a guild known as Wind Scythe. He could guess the guild own these soul rifts because of the resources inside that could be used to make runes, elixirs, pills and even weapons.

"I guess I will have to draw the runes using my own blood then," he said in an annoyed tone. He hated this way of making runes because of the indescribable pain he felt afterwards but if he'll do what he has to do to gain more strength. He bit down on his thumb and drew a rune on the palm of his right hand in a matter of seconds and did the same thing to his other hand.

The runes glowed an ethereal blue light, the runes then disappeared after a few seconds. He suddenly felt his muscles tremble, his temperature rising and indescribable pain in his heart.
