Chapter 17 - Yes, it's the only way I can be of help

Micheal went silent. He was angry but he could not even prolong the matter with him because he understood Noah.

It was like being in debt and knowing there was no other way to repay this debt weighing on his back, he decided to do whatever he could.

Even if that meant shamelessly trying to bathe his benefactor.

"I get it. I get it. But there are some lines you shouldn't cross, Noah." Micheal said. He could not see Noah's face but he was certain he had that indifferent look on his face.

He was devoid of emotions and acted like a remote-controlled robot, sticking to his principles and the commands he was carrying out.

The only times he saw a different emotion on his face was when... He was sleepwalking.

'Wait, I should probably bring this up with him, right? That bad sleeping habit of his.'

"What are the lines?" Noah asked and Micheal glanced over his shoulder at him. Was he asking what lines he shouldn't cross?

Of course, it was his personal space.

"You have to respect my opinion." Micheal said.

Even if he said he should never trespass on his personal space, he still had to deal with that 'nightwalker' that always found a way to harass him while Noah was asleep.

"And what if I end up crossing that line because I feel your opinion is not in your best interest?" Noah asked, leading Micheal to a still silence.

"It's my opinion, it doesn't have to need your approval. If I say no, then no means no. If I say yes, then yes means yes. You can't force your own will on me." Micheal said. "That's not how it works."

Noah once again went silent, thinking deeply about this.

"I want to agree to it," he said, dropping the sponge and reaching for the shower head. "But at the same time, I can't agree." He said.

"Hey, what do you mean by--?"

A splash of water interrupted him from asking his question. Noah rained down the water with the shower head, starting from his head, down to his back.

He made sure not to wet the cast while he washed Micheal down.

He slid his hand over Micheal's back, suddenly giving him the chills. He felt his spine shiver because of his sudden touch.

'W-what was that?' Micheal thought. 'I didn't feel anything when he was scrubbing my back, but now that he's using his hand...' He gulped, clenching his fist.

His body was reacting strangely to Noah's touch.

"In the matter that I feel you aren't being considerate of yourself, I will step up to help." Noah said. "Even if you do not agree to it."

"Just... Just like now," Micheal said and Noah nodded.

"Yes, it's the only way I can be of help. It's the only way I don't serve as a burden. So, while I am here without my memories..." He turned off the shower head and handed it to him. "I will do my best to take care of you because you are my savior."

Micheal stared at him in surprise. Those words... he did not expect him to say them.

Well, it was typical that he would say something like that to give reason to his actions. He was one smart one, even without his memories.

'Somehow, his words actually make me feel relaxed.' Micheal thought, slowly lowering his head and listening to his gradually racing heart. 'And it makes me...'

"I'll leave now," Noah said and he snapped out of his thoughts. He raised his head and found Noah heading for the door. "I'll wait for you outside till you're done."

"Why do you need to wait?" Micheal asked and Noah dropped his hand on the door frame, answering without sparing a glance at him.

"Just in case you fall again."

He walked out and closed the door, and Michael clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"He thinks he's all that just because he's so big and sturdy." Micheal grumbled. "He's the reason I'm in this mess in the first place. Persistent bastard!" He turned away and looked at the shower head on the tub. "I can't believe I got swayed by his words just a minute ago. I must be out of my mind. He's insane. They all are."

He decided to just hurry up and get out, and carefully, too; if not, Noah would never let him walk on his own two feet if he felt walking would harm him.

Noah stood outside the door. He could hear everything Micheal was saying even though he grumbled in a low tone.

His hearing was quite sharp since he was a werewolf.

'Yes, I'm a persistent bastard!' he thought and looked towards Micheal's room door. 'But I have to do this. If I don't watch you, there's a high chance that I won't be able to stay safe for much longer. If possible,' he pressed his hand on the door. 'Come to depend on me as I have come to depend on your existence.'

When Noah opened Michael's laptop out of curiosity, he found a series of hate notes sent to him from unknown people and then there was the company chat he had not left yet

They are all talking about him. It looked like they hated him.

Noah did not mean to see all of that, but he did, and he realized that Micheal was not okay.

No wonder he did not even talk about going to work or finding one. He had given up.

'No, if he gives up, I will have nowhere to go.' he thought. 'And those people after me will catch up to me in a matter of time. I... I have to be with Micheal if I don't want to be caught before I regain my strength.'
