"I had a client before who had connections with the hospital," Kevin said in a low voice.
Seeing this, Jessie nodded and glanced at the time. "Mr. Harper, you should head to work now. I'll go up and check on my mom and Luke again."
"Okay."
As Kevin watched her figure disappear from view, he immediately got out of the car and got into his Maybach.
Jessie had a busy day taking care of Luke and running around to pay bills. She initially didn't want her mom to return the money, knowing full well that her stepfather would definitely nag her mom about it endlessly.
Upon returning to the apartment, she discovered her mom had slipped a thousand dollars into her bag when she didn’t notice. Just then she got a text message from her mom.
"Jessie, now that you're married, you must save your money and live well. Don't worry about me," Laura said.
