Chapter 16 - bunny kid shorts 4

The faint sound of waves echoed beyond the quiet of Coco Village. Somewhere in a small house, Abby sat by her window, her guitar in her lap, her notebook open… but no words came.

Just doodles.

Just… scribbles of someone's name.

Eleo.

Lucy sat nearby on the floor, cross-legged, watching her.

"Abby… you still miss him?"

Abby didn't answer right away. She strummed a soft, wandering chord before letting the strings fall silent.

"…Yeah." She sighed and leaned back. "He was my only best friend. Y'know? He made everything feel less boring. Less… stuck."

Lucy tilted her head.

"You're not stuck."

Abby frowned. "I kinda am. He's out there having crazy fun adventures—fighting cool people, discovering weird islands, probably getting into trouble…" She smiled a little. "…without me."

Lucy stood up and brushed her hands off.

"Well… Master Kuma gave me something yesterday."

Abby's ears perked up. "Master Kuma did??"

Lucy nodded, then reached into her pouch and slowly pulled out a glowing S-Orb.

It shimmered softly, casting light over the room.

Abby's eyes widened, her breath catching.

"…That's an S-Orb!" she whispered, hands shaking.

Lucy nodded again, holding it out with both hands like it was a gift from the heavens.

"He said it's for you. Said… if you want to chase your own story, you'll need power. So…"

She smiled warmly. "…Take it. You train, you grow stronger—and maybe, just maybe—you'll see Eleo again."

Abby covered her mouth as her eyes filled with tears.

"…Thank you, Mom."

Lucy chuckled gently and knelt down, handing it to her.

"What kind of mom would I be if I didn't believe in my daughter's dreams?"

Abby reached out with both hands. The S-Orb pulsed faintly.

She touched it.

But something was off.

There was no symbol.

Nothing.

The light grew—then, with a sudden BOOM!—

Abby was gone.

No house. No mom. No room.

Just—a void.

An endless, black nothing.

Silence.

"…Hello?"

Her voice echoed back at her.

Abby looked around. She floated weightlessly, completely alone.

Her heart pounded. She hugged herself tightly.

"What… is this place?"

The silence answered with more silence.

Then—somewhere in that void—a single spark of light flickered.

Abby stared at the light.

It pulsed softly, like a heartbeat.

Warm. Calm. Beautiful.

Her wide eyes reflected it like a mirror—shimmering, full of awe.

Suddenly, her body began to glow too—soft sparkles dancing over her arms and legs, as if the light was painting her in stardust.

She blinked. "…What is this?"

The moment her fingertips touched it—

The void shattered.

The endless black cracked like glass and faded into nothingness, replaced by wind, light… and a gentle ground beneath her feet.

She landed softly in a vast open field that didn't seem to exist anywhere normal.

The grass shimmered with subtle rainbows.

The air smelled like lavender and mystery.

Spirits danced in the distance—glowing figures and translucent animals.

A deer with antlers like tree branches leapt past her.

A fox made of water padded along the grass, leaving flowers in its pawprints.

Winged rabbits floated by, giggling in wind-chime voices.

Abby gasped in awe, spinning slowly as she took it all in.

"Woooooow…" she whispered, eyes glistening. "This is like… like a dream!"

And then—she saw her.

Underneath a cherry blossom tree in full bloom, there sat a woman.

Her long silver hair flowed gently behind her, one lock tucked perfectly behind her ear.

Her eyes were amethyst, glimmering with a faint bluish tint that felt like ancient oceans and forgotten skies.

She wore a flowing white dress, elegant and simple, and sat with perfect grace at a table covered in roses.

A delicate parasol with pink polka dots shaded her from the surreal sun above.

She sipped her tea quietly, the cup porcelain and painted with golden constellations.

She glanced up and smiled gently, as if she'd been expecting Abby all along.

Abby looked down and realized—she was wearing a white dress, too.

Soft, flowing, and glowing just like the spirits around her.

"…Hello?" Abby said cautiously, walking toward the table.

The woman chuckled softly, setting her teacup down.

"You're more radiant than I imagined. Eleo's friend, yes?"

Abby blinked. "You… know Eleo?"

The woman nodded, her smile both calm and mysterious.

"Come. Sit with me. The tea's still warm… and there's much to talk about."

Abby hesitated—then slowly stepped forward, her heart pounding with wonder, nerves, and curiosity.

Abby slowly sat down at the tea table, her eyes never leaving the silver-haired woman in front of her. The wind was calm, the spirits still drifting peacefully in the air around them.

"How do you know Eleo?" Abby asked, her voice curious but wary.

The woman smiled, her expression unreadable.

"I know everything about you, Abby."

She poured another cup of tea. "What you want, how you feel… even the parts you try to hide. You wish to go on an adventure. With your best friend Eleo."

Abby blinked, her ears twitching slightly.

"Y-Yeah…" she whispered. "I really do…"

The woman's smile widened, soft but uncanny.

"But you don't need him. You can be your own person. Have your own island. Your own world. No more chasing someone else's story."

Abby hesitated. "But… what about my mom? And Coco Village?"

The woman raised her fingers—and snapped.

The air shimmered.

"What mom? What village?" she said, tilting her head sweetly.

Abby furrowed her brows.

"Huh? What… was I talking about?"

The woman giggled.

"You were talking about your own island. How you could be free."

Abby nodded slowly, dazed. "Right… yeah… my own island… but what about Eleo—"

Snap.

A flick of her fingers.

"What were you saying, Abby?"

Abby's mind blanked for a moment, like a chalkboard wiped clean.

"I… I don't know. I think I was talking about… an island?"

The woman leaned forward, extending her hand.

"Come now. Hold my hand."

Abby hesitated, heart pounding. But something about the woman's voice made it feel… safe. So she reached out.

The moment their hands touched—

FWOOOOOSH.

The tea table, the spirits, the grass, the world—gone.

Abby and the woman were floating in the sky, high above the open ocean. The breeze rushed around them as the clouds shimmered with magic.

And then—beneath them—the sea began to churn.

The water swirled, as if the ocean itself was waking up.

CRACK!

Rising from the waves came an island—but not just any island.

It was unlike anything Abby—or even the world—had ever seen.

Massive flower-like trees bloomed across sky-high cliffs that spiraled like seashells.

A volcano in the center glowed not with lava, but with floating light crystals, dancing like fireflies.

Waterfalls poured upward, twisting into the sky like ribbons.

Bridges of coral and glowing stones connected floating mini-isles, each with mysterious ruins and spiral towers.

A beach made of glass pebbles stretched along the coast, and when the wind blew, the entire island seemed to hum like music.

Spirits swam through the skies like fish, and a moon hung low even though it was day.

At the highest cliff, a throne of vines and gold stood—waiting.

Abby gasped, eyes wide and shining.

"Wooooow! This… this is insane! It's like something out of a storybook!"

The woman looked at the island with a soft smile.

"It's all yours. No rules. No waiting. No being left behind. Here, you are the center of everything."

Abby blinked. "But… what about—"

The woman gently placed a hand on Abby's shoulder. Her voice remained warm, calm, kind…

"Shh. It's okay. You don't need anyone to complete you. Not Eleo. Not your village. This island—this world—can be yours."

A faint glow flickered in the woman's eyes. She snapped her fingers one last time—but slower.

Abby's pupils dilated as something washed over her—a haze of fog slipping into her mind. Names, faces, laughter, tears—all drifting away like dust in the wind.

She blinked. Once. Twice.

Her hand gripped the woman.

"Who… are you?"

She smiled, pleased.

"My name… is Majo."

Majo gestured to the floating island below, the wind blowing her white dress like mist.

"And I'm here to help you become… everything you've ever wanted."
