Chapter 52 - CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE

Vivianne sighed deeply after talking to her sister.

There are so many things we don't know. She couldn't help but think of herself as she watched the child sleep.

Such behavior is guilt-inducing. What if Ashley hadn't gotten hurt? Will we also not find out that secret? She could only ask herself.

When the child really gets involved, that's when you'll really know, right? Vivianne could only shake her head.

She was sound asleep when her sister Tashia called. Sharlene hadn't returned yet because she was still trying to uncover the truth; besides, she was one of the reasons why she couldn't help Leah back then.

While she was looking at the child, the door suddenly opened. She thought Sharlene had returned, but she was taken aback by the unexpected visitor.

Her eyebrows suddenly arched up, and she just stared at him, quietly looking at him as she also looked back at him.

"Sharlene isn't here." That's all she said to the person in front of her now.

"I know, it's there in San Mateo, right?" Martin asked her.

She was surprised by what he was saying. "You know it's in San Mateo. What are you doing here?" Vivianne couldn't stop raising her eyebrow.

"Hey, did your sister really have no affair when we got married?" It suddenly asked her a question.

Her ears perked up at this question. "What are you talking about now?" She said, wondering what it means.

"Sharlene is there, supposedly meeting with her childhood friend; I thought she was being a good mother to that child." Martin just shook his head.

"I thought you and my older sister were already separated? Please explain why you are involved with her now." She couldn't stop and asked Martin.

"I just want to make sure that Ashley is really my child." He stared at the child.

"Get a DNA test; you can do that." Vivianne challenged Martin.

Martin just stared at her and didn't immediately respond. He only just shook his head.

"Can you please not take out your frustrations on me and blame Sharlene if you have a problem with Sheila?" Vivianne added back then.

"What do you know about Sheila and me?" Martin inquired about their relationship.

"You both have small brains." That was an insult coming from Vivianne to Martin.

"I'm not here to fight with you." It only sighed.

"So what do you want now, Martin?" she asked, staring intently at him. "Make sure my time talking to you won't be wasted."

Martin only smiled at her, but then her expression turned serious as she faced Martin.

"Why is your sister interfering in the feud of the three clans?" Martin suddenly asked her.

Vivianne didn't immediately process his question. "Oh, my bad, my bad." He couldn't help but say it and let out a soft laugh.

Vivianne knew what he was referring to. "What did she find out?" Martin asked. Martin continued to ask Vivianne questions one after another.

"What do you care? Did your sister meddle in your affairs?" She turned her question back to the individual who was standing in front of her.

"Carmela Geraldine Santiago-Gonzalez, that's the woman Sharlene is trying to find out about, and also Leah Martinez. What did your sister Sharlene eat? Why is she digging up the long-dead?"

"Maybe this is the doing of your grandmother?" Martin asked with a smirk.

"As I heard, your grandmother knows the Martinez, Gonzalez, and Santiago families. Is that why you suddenly had wealth and land back then, because your grandmother siphoned off a large sum of money?" Martin asked Vivianne mockingly.

"Don't be so arrogant. What man would blindly follow his parents' guidance only to embezzle the wealth of the Rosarios?" She asked back then.

Martin stared at her. "You thought I didn't know?" She smiled back then, but she couldn't immediately respond to the question she threw at him now.

"The wealth of the Rosarios?" Martin even laughed when he managed to recover from the question she had thrown earlier.

"Or perhaps the wealth of both families? Well, my parents and your grandmother arranged it back then. I'm a good son, so I need to follow my parents' wishes." He explained his reasoning to her.

Vivianne couldn't help but laugh at what she heard. "You're really a coward." She only shook her head at the person she was talking to.

"I understand now why you don't want to include my sister in your properties; I understand now why you don't want to include her in your wealth, because you don't want your wealth to be lost and go to our grandmother back then." Vivianne sighed, acknowledging her companion's concerns.

"When Grandma Felicia passed away, it felt like a thorn was removed from your life, as you could potentially end your relationship with Sharlene at any moment, as Grandma's death rendered the contract no longer valid. Isn't that right, Martin?" she asked directly.

"How far does your knowledge go, Vivianne?" Martin asked her directly.

Vivianne smiled at him. "I understand, Martin, as we both possess an insatiable desire for what the world has bestowed upon us. But don't worry, Sharlene isn't concerned about your wealth or Grandma Felicia's wealth." Vivianne even said that back then.

"Grandma failed to leave a final testament for the three of us. As they say, that old woman didn't want to pass on to us what she worked hard for. What a selfish grandmother!" Vivianne even laughed back then.

"Well, we're still here, thriving." She even said this to Martin. "So don't meddle in what Sharlene is doing right now."

"Well, it is confirmed that your grandmother knows the three clans that were contemporaries of my family." Martin only nodded and sighed.

"What do you really want to know, Martin?" She asked directly, staring intently at the man in front of her.

"Find out why I'm here, Vivianne; you inherited her ability from your grandmother, didn't you?" He asked her.

She couldn't respond to what he was saying. Martin suddenly tapped her on the shoulder, sensing something.

"Oops." It smiled at her mockingly.

She knew that the man in front of her had done that on purpose.

"Are you here to take revenge and find out who my sister is?" Vivianne asked Martin directly.

"Sister?" She's not really your sister. Stop using honorifics for Sharlene. You're not even blood relatives. Martin even told her.

"Never, ever involve Sharlene in your problems, Martin." Vivianne sternly warned Martin. She pulled Martin violently.

"Don't you dare involve the woman you hurt back then. You just showed up and came to your senses now, so you're going to disturb Sharlene again?" Vivianne had no choice but to confront the man who stood before her.

"I'm not going to disturb Sharlene; I want to know who she is. I want to know who her real parents are, because my gut says that she's involved in the Santiago–Gonzalez feud." Martin says to her.

Vivianne sighed. She raised her face and looked at Martin.

"Don't interfere in other people's mess." She warned Martin.

"Oh no, I'm involved in everything, you know what they called our family? The neutral one, if ever involved with another clan, especially with Sheila's sister." Martin could only just laugh.

Martin watched the child sleeping soundly; Martin approached and caressed the child's face.

"Daddy will come here again, little one. Make sure you get better." Martin was only able to utter a few words before abruptly disappearing.

Vivianne sat down, watching the sleeping child. She saw the soul of the young girl, Ashley, and was worried about the man, Martin.

She just sighed and held the hand of the child sleeping soundly.
