Chapter 6 - 6. Reuniting

Today Skye went to a hotel to work as a waiter. His leg has healed so he can walk normally. Skye and the waiters are being briefed on what they have to do. Once they understood, they were ready. At 7pm, the event started, and Skye was already on duty delivering drinks to the guests.

As she offered drinks to the guests, she rounded her eyes in surprise because the person she was offering drinks to was her father. Her father, who had been gone for three years, had left her with a debt that she was responsible for paying.

"Daddy," Skye said.

"Who is she, and why do you call her daddy?" asked the woman beside Skye's father.

Skye now looked at the woman beside his father, she also wondered who the woman beside his father was. "No one, honey, I don't know her. Maybe she misses her father, so she calls me daddy because I look like her father," Skye's father replied in a soft tone of voice. A tone of voice that Skye had never heard during the time she lived with her father without her mother.

Her father could only get angry with her and also beat her since her mother left. Blaming herself for her mother leaving home. That's how Skye felt every day while living with her father. Little Skye, until she graduated from high school, could only cry under her bed. She was afraid that if she came out from under her bed and her father saw her crying, she would be beaten again.

Skye shook her head. "Dad, it's me. Skye is Daddy's daughter," Skye said, making several eyes now look at Skye and her father.

The woman beside her father was now looking angrily at Skye's father. "Just a minute, honey. I'll take care of this slut," Skye's father said and roughly grabbed Haisley's wrist to come with him.

Fortunately, the tray of drinks was no longer there because it had been taken by her father and the woman beside her father. They were already out of the ballroom of the hotel where the event was held, Skye's father rudely released his hand grip until Skye fell to the floor.

Skye was now staring at her father, sad that her father still treated her like this. It was very different from the way her father treated the woman standing next to him. "Stop interfering with my life! I've raised you, you can earn your own money. So, stop interfering with my life! Enough of you making my wife leave, don't make my current wife leave my life!" said Skye's father, making Skye surprised to hear her father's words just now. So, the woman beside her father was her father's new wife.

"Why didn't Daddy acknowledge me as his daughter in front of that woman? I will not interfere with Daddy's life even though Daddy has been very bad to me. Daddy always blames me for Mommy's departure. I don't know why Mommy left us. Daddy also let loan sharks chase me to pay Daddy's debts. Daddy should be responsible for paying the loan shark, not me," said Skye, whose tears were now rolling down her cheeks.

Plak

A strong slap hit Skye's cheek, causing her to turn her head. "Don't talk about responsibility to me, it's your responsibility because the money is to support you!" Skye's father fumed.

"I'm warning you, don't ever bring this up to my wife and don't ever appear in front of me and my wife again. I don't want to have anything to do with the daughter who ruined my life!" Skye's father said and left Skye. He also kicked Skye's leg, which was slightly blocking his way, so that Skye could now only close her eyes and then bite her lower lip so that she would not scream or whimper in pain. If she screamed or whimpered in pain, then her father would come back and beat her.

Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, she brushed away the tears that welled up in her eyes. She stood up, and her sore leg was now hurting again. Her body was almost unsteady, and she almost fell back down if someone didn't catch her.

Skye quickly moved away and looked at the person who caught her. "Thank you," Skye said.

"Ah, Sean," said Skye, who realized that the person in front of her was Sean—the handkerchief man.

"You helped me again, thank you," Skye said with a smile.

A man who was next to Sean adjusted his glasses, he looked strangely at the woman in front of him. How could she be smiling with those red cheeks? "Blood," said the man beside Sean, and he quickly handed a handkerchief to the woman.

Skye touched her nose. "Ah," she said and took the handkerchief from her pocket.

"Thank you, sir, I have my own. Sorry to trouble you," Skye said, smiling at the man who held out the handkerchief to her.

"No problem," said the man, who also smiled even though he found it strange that Skye could still smile.

"Stop smiling!" said Sean with a cold tone of voice that made the two people who felt they were smiling immediately stop smiling.

Skye looked at Sean, who was also looking at her. "Your smile is annoying, so stop smiling forcibly!" Sean said again in his cold tone of voice. His face also looked angry, even his lips were flat without expression.

"Sorry," Skye whispered and bowed her head.

"Stop apologizing and smile!" said Sean in a higher tone of voice, making the man beside him quite surprised by Sean's attitude.

As long as he worked with Sean, this was the first time he had seen his boss scold a strange woman. During this time, the women who approached him, either in a match or random women who approached him, never saw him get angry like this. Sean only spoke in a cold tone or was indifferent to the women who approached him. But this time it was very different, even just apologizing and smiling, Sean was this angry.

He didn't know who this woman was. This strange woman who could make his boss angry just for apologizing and smiling. Sean walked away from there without saying anything. Skye was silent as she bowed her head. The blood from her nose dripped onto the floor, her tears had also returned to her cheeks. She was supposed to pretend that she didn't know the people she did know if she was somewhere, unless that person called her.
