I focused my gaze on their faces, every last one of them, and their expressions were the same. Fear, remorse, silent apologies. Of course I was not fooled by their insincere apologies, but I was not about to cause any one to get fired, even though they deserved worse.
"None of them bothered me." I said after some time, turning to face Leonard for the briefest of time. I didn't get to see the look on his face, and I couldn't tell if he believed me or not.
"Now get to work, all of you." He ordered as an afterthought after long minutes had passed.
"Any more strikes from any of you, and you'll be out of Litt's before you even know it." He added after them, as they scurried away from the lobby to their various points of duty.
In less than two minutes the lobby was cleared, leaving me alone with Leonard. I wasn't sure if my legs had regained their ability to walk now, plus standing alone with Leonard had suddenly made me nervous and uneasy.
