Chapter thirty four

The cook returned to the dining room with lightning speed just as I got up in fear.
"I'm sorry sir." I apologized as I took in the mess I have made.
"I'm sorry sir." The cook apologized, bowing slightly. She began to clean up hurriedly with a surprised look on her face. I had no idea why I spat the food out or why it tasted the way it did in my tongue.
"Clean up, then go get your things. You're fired." Leonard declared. He didn't eat from the food, and had no idea what was wrong with the food.
She continued to clean, her surprise had given way for anguish, yet she said nothing to plead her cause. She left once she was done, probably to get her things.
"You can't fire her." I said to Leonard once I was sure she was out of earshot. I didn't want her to hear Leonard speak to me with his usual arrogance.
"I can, and I just did." He replied.
