There are a few things that keep Kai working with Noah Miles. Aside from the fact that the fridge in his house was full of Kai's favorite snacks, Noah Miles bought snacks without eating them at all. Firstly, the salary was very generous compared to the salaries of other Esper's, although of course this was Kai's first time getting an offer as a private Esper. But even Knox, who was used to handling contracts like this, was surprised by the amount they were offering.
Secondly, Noah Miles' face is a sight for sore eyes. Yes, his face is so beautiful. The first time he saw him Kai didn't think much of it, he just thought the man looked beautiful with his silver hair and similarly colored eyes. But a few times accompanying him on duty, Kai realized that the man did look so magnificent. When he returned from the Dungeon, he was like an angel descending to earth.
"He looks like a snow prince..." People said that when they saw Noah Miles came down after completing his mission and the words never left Kai Wood's mind.
Noah Miles does look like a prince from the snow kingdom, with his pale skin and silver hair.
Third, he completed the mission quickly.
Kai only accept four missions a day at Noah Miles' request, and they were all completed in just six hours. Afterward they returned home and when Noah went into his room, he never left the room again after the next morning.
After a month with him, Kai still continued to notice Noah's habits. Living with him wasn't too bad since he spent most of his time in his room rather than interacting with Kai. Noah didn't go to any activities, he seemed stiff and unfriendly to others but he didn't hesitate to talk to Kai or Luka and showed a lot of expression.
"Interesting..." Kai muttered.
"Who?"
Kai looked up and found Knox standing at the door of his office, the man was dressed in a neat uniform and carrying files into Kai's office. An unusual sight.
"Did you just attend a meeting?" Kai asked Knox who was walking closer to him.
Kai's office was two floors below Knox's and during the time he occupied this office, Knox only dropped by a few times if there was an urgent matter. Well, that was because Kai spent a lot of time inside Knox's office.
The man sat on the couch inside the office, making Kai stand up and leave his chair to approach Knox. Kai sat in front of Knox.
"Today the higher-ups had a meeting, all the guilds."
"All guilds? Are there any problems on the fields?"
Knox handed Kai the file he was holding, the man frowned and took the file from Knox's hand. The file was gold in color, that meant it is a confidential. Kai read through it and he looked at Knox now.
"So?"
Kai didn't answer, he was still frozen in place.
"It became so serious because Luka Beckett often does this on the field, the FERN guild said that it's a procedure they've been doing for a long time and this time it was used in a proper situation. But of course, other guilds feel that this is too much."
Kai was silent while Knox stared at him, waiting for an explanation from the man who worked directly for Noah Miles.
The file contained a complaint about the FERN guild's request to make some of the Esper and Guides sign an agreement not to spread any info about what happened in the field while working with Noah Miles. Of course, this had never happened before, but since Noah's back to fields several Esper and Guides had been forced to sign the agreement.
"I know it's not really a big deal, every guild has their own rules and conditions. It's just that this is too strange and pushy, they think there is no trust between the FERN guild and other guilds. He glanced at the file Knox had left on the table. The other guilds were suspicious and thought there was something wrong with Noah Miles, the chaos two years ago made them wary. That day Kai was taken to the Oak lab and was unconscious for two weeks.
He sighed.
Luka told him that Noah was not only a Combat Esper, he also had other powers as a Combat Esper. A power that if not controlled would burn itself, this was the first time Kai had heard that. As far as he knew an Esper only had psychic powers that were born or when their 'awakened' coming. However, Noah has other powers?
"Does he have psychic powers? How come I've never heard of that?"
Kai took the file and read through it one by one once again, he read the words carefully. There was no information other than the explanation that Noah Miles was born as a Combat Esper.
Noah Miles was awakened at the age of eight, possessing the instincts of a Combat Esper.
"Eight years old?"
Again with information Kai had never heard before, he grabbed his phone and looked up Noah. In the news that was shown to the public, Noah woke up at a fairly young age but it was not said what age.
Eight years old was the youngest age, no Esper or Guide had awakened at such a young age. Most of them woke up at a reasonable age, such as fifteen or seventeen.
Noah Miles, orphaned, has a twin sister.
"A twin sister?"
Kai opened the pages and read it again one by one. It was written that Noah had a twin sister whose existence was kept secret, unlike Noah his twin sister had problems with controlling power so one of the unnamed guilds took over and conducted research on her.
Noah Miles was taken by the FERN Guild at the age of fifteen and trained as a Combat Esper alongside Guide Jayden Ackland of the HOLLYHOCK Guild. Their compatibility score did not reach eighty percent but Jayden was capable of guiding at the same rank as Noah Miles.
"Didn't the guild never tell what rank Noah Miles had?" Kai muttered again, the public assuming that Noah Miles had a rank of S+ or S because of his ability to complete missions and fight monsters.
