He took me to a serene place, full of natural flowers of different colors. We sat on the beautiful wooden chairs, sipping our drinks. I suddenly became shy—avoiding his gaze. He stood up from his chair, moving close to me, and then he raised my head as he stared into my eyes.
"It's you from the party," he said again. "The careless girl who spilled wine on my expensive suit," he added.
"Master Sungmin!".I called, but he shut me up with his pointer finger on my lip.
"There's something special about you," he started. "I… Well, I am sorry about everything Nara did to you. I ask for forgiveness for her," he said, expecting a smile from me, but my expression was blank. I saw his eyes turn grey. That baffled me a lot. Was he also a wolf? I asked myself. And the next minute, he couldn't just get a hold of himself.
"Jiah," he called me as if he wanted to confess something. I tried to get into his head, but I just couldn't. Something I couldn't figure out kept blocking me.
"Yula!" I called in the mind link, but she refused to respond.
"Go get some sleep, you bitch! We have to know what's up with Guyong. Where is he?" I kept talking even if she didn't respond, I knew she was hearing me.
"Try to see if you can get into our boss's head, please."
A long pause and yet no response.
"I hit the table angrily, groaning loudly."
Sungmin was shocked! I didn't know he had seen my eyes turn silver when I groaned.
"Silver," he whispered, and I heard it.
"I am sorry, pardon…" I trailed off, trying to catch my balance.
"That's beautiful. I know you are one of a kind. I felt that chemistry when you spilled wine on me at the party."
"This is more than you think!" I interrupted, almost running out of patience.
"Get into his head, Yula! How do I start to explain this, for crying out loud?" I mind-linked the silent bitch again. If only she was close, I would have taught her a lesson for putting me through such mental stress.
"You never get serious for once in your life!" I said, trying to piss her off to have her say a word.
"You know what! We will do this some other time," I said, rising to my feet. I was already sweating.
"Warn him about getting close to Nara," Yu-la mind-linked me, sounding unnatural.
"What's up with you, dude?" I thought to myself and felt her playing in my head. Sungmin perceived that something was wrong.
"Did I get you upset?" he asked, jolting to his feet too.
"No, you didn't. I just do not have enough time to sit for this date. All I need you to do for me is to beware of Nara! She's a bad egg."
Maybe I should just let him know what he needs to know so that we can protect him as much as we can.
"Now you are talking!" Yula mind-linked. I hissed.
"Are you alright? Or maybe we should do this later? Today must be a bad day for you. Maybe someone hurt your feelings or something."
"Look, Master Sungmin," I said and took a deep breath in.
"You should cut off with Nara! Her father pinned you all down with this deadly agreement just to get you into his homeless pack," I said and paused, trying to read his expressions since I couldn't get into his head.
"I don't know what you are talking about."
I knew this would be hard. It sounded like some cock-and-bull stories that were told to kids.
"I think you should tell him to go home and ask his father who Guyong was and why he wanted him to marry Nara?" Yula said in the mind-link.
"Go home and ask your father who Guyong is and why he wanted you to get married to Nara?" I said in his face. He stared at me, completely lost and speechless.
"I can't deceive you, Sungmin, I love you. Believe me." I summoned the courage to call him by his name.
"You are my mate! I know it!" I said with a hand on his cheek. He was just as cold as ice. He held my hand, it off his cheek.
"I will do as you have said," he said calmly and left.
I should have told him about the debt, I thought to myself. But I didn't call him back.
The next day was the weekend. I had invited Yula over to my house. She was in the kitchen preparing something for us. I went to meet her there.
"It would be 24 hours in 9 hours from now," I said after looking at the wall clock in the kitchen.
"Dad had laid lifeless at Hayan territory for 15 hours… What do you think of that, Yula?" I said as I helped her chop some onions.
"So what did she say?" Yula asked, trying to get on my nerves. She acted as if she didn't meddle with my head to read my mind to have a clue of what we discussed at her place. I looked at her to let her know that I knew what she was doing.
"What!" she exclaimed, washing her hands in the zinc.
"We have to find Guyong!" I snapped, dropping the knife.
"Find a Beta?" she asked, arching one brow.
"Isn't it possible?" I returned an arched brow too.
"You know what it means for us if we refuse to face our fears!" I added.
"What fears are you talking about?" she asked, returning to check her food which was almost burning.
I took a deep breath to ease myself of the tension she was putting me into. Yula never ceases to amaze me. I was already running dry of saliva.
Sungmin's POV
I got home feeling like he owed me a lot. "Dad." He looked at me expecting me to speak.
"I have just been wondering, why do you want me to get married to Nara, you never for once said anything about this to me," I said as I cut that scary look on his face.
"Well, I have been waiting for this question. Nara's father saved me some years back and this is how I want to repay him. Apart from this, he is one of the biggest investors in the company," he said.
"Is that all?" I asked as if expecting to hear more.
"What else do you want to hear?" he asked, already losing his cool. Then I heard a strange voice in my head.
"I will rip out their throats one after another!" a thick wicked male voice said. He was like the voice had a mix of a loud, distracting beep in my head. I noticed my father's strange and scary look.
"Was that you?" I asked.
"Me… what?… you better forget about Guyong and focus on Nara, she is your true mate!" that last word sounded familiar.
"Did you say, mate?" I asked, arching one brow, my curiosity had reached its peak.
"Yes!"
"Ask him where she is," a female voice said in my head. I didn't understand what was going on with me anymore. I collapsed.
