Chapter 12 - YULA’S TORTURE

Jiah's POV

We sprinted back home at my crushing speed! I noticed a change in my speed — I was faster than I used to be before. I felt something different, like I was a new being. I ran a soft glance on my body. Nothing changed! "Yangmu, something about me has changed, I can feel it," I said.

"Your speed got better because you had connected to the magical bubbles that electrified your body and improved your speed. That was possible because you are a hybrid, a taste of witch, and a taste of werewolf… if you weren't a hybrid, it would have killed your speed instantly."

Surprise filled my eyes. He didn't look like he was joking, Yangmu was serious.

"Tell me how you got trapped in that spell?" I asked, changing the topic unknowingly.

"I got trapped in there when I was five. My mom is a black witch. She specializes in evil doing. She wanted to kill an Alpha, the Alpha of their time, so that she would become the first witch to destroy an Alpha in their time. So she created this spell! A very powerful spell that could trap the Alpha. But as she made her incantations to cast the spell on the already-aged Alpha, I got trapped in the spell."

"Are you serious right now?" I asked rhetorically, not expecting an answer from him.

"Even though the Alpha was old and physically weak, he was still an Alpha. So powerful and full of strength. He lived into the next generation, he had a long life."

I was baffled by what he told me.

"What about your mother?" I asked, and his expression switched. He did not look happy.

"Did I say something you did not like?" I asked him, trying to catch the expression on his face, but he kept dodging.

"I don't think I would love to talk about it right now!" he said without hesitating.

I understood how he felt. His mother must be a terrible witch.

As I remembered the wolves from Guyong's pack, I hurried to check on them. I threw some cookies at them, but then their hands were tied. I hurried back to Yangmu.

"Tonight we will be killing one of these wolves! I hope you will give me a hand?" I said, shining my eyes, and he nodded in response as he munched hungrily on the cookies in his hand.

I remembered something — Hayan said we must all connect and appeal to our guiding star before it can come back to us! I thought in my heart, then I rushed back to Yangmu again.

"We all have to be complete before we can make the ritual!" I said to him.

Sungmin's POV

I sat back on my couch, feeling relieved. There was no Jiah, no Nara, no Yula, no Guyong. I was a new man!

After a few minutes, I felt Yula mind-linking me.

"Nara's held me captive, please save me!"

"Huh!" I responded in the mind-link.

"She is threatening me to get into the head of Hayan so that I can see the future, but she doesn't seem to understand that Hayan is aware of the future because of the spell she casts and the enchantment she does. Even if I get into her head now, it would be empty!" Yula explained in the mind-link.

"Nara has got some guts, huh!" I said in the mind-link. Then I grabbed my phone from the table's top, putting a call through to Nara.

"Hello, my love," she said with a touch of romance in her tone.

"Let Yula go!" I yelled.

"Oh. How did you know Yula is here with Mama?" she said, referring to herself. "I am sure the betrayer must have mind-linked you, huh?" Nara asked. Then I heard her over the phone, hitting Yula like a child.

"What do you want, you rotten slave!" I asked in anger.

"You! I want you! Are you choosing another woman over me? Didn't my father even offer to make you an Alpha if you marry me?"

"And who told you I was interested in becoming a so-called Alpha? Your father should first make himself an Alpha before thinking of making me an Alpha!" I said, completely bittered. Then I heard her hitting Yula again and again.

"So you could mind-link and you never wanted to? Why lie to me by telling me you cannot get into Hayan's head!"

"Stop it, you bastard!" I yelled over the phone, since I knew I could do nothing to save her. Nara was way stronger than me. She is a hybrid, and me… who am I? A nobody!

Just then, I remembered that I had concluded not to get involved in their trash anymore, but I couldn't help but find a solution to get Yula out of there. Yula is a good friend too, even though she is not my fated mate. I do not want anything to happen to her. I think speaking to my father about this could go a long way!

I picked up my phone and put a call through to Dad.

"The woman you want me to get married to has gotten a hold of my very good friend Yula; she's been torturing her and threatening to have us killed!" I added a few lies to spice up my claims.

"Is that what my son is calling to tell me after abandoning me at the hospital? I thought you were dead, but something told me you weren't. You are dead to me because you are of no use in the company."

"Dad, is this what matters the most to you right now? The fact that I left you in the hospital without checking up on you? Do you know what I was going through at that time? I hate it when you talk like this!" I said angrily. "Your so-called Nara is after my life, and this is all you have to say about it?"

"Leave that to me. She would release your friend. Just come home to your father. Don't forget that that seat is empty! There's nobody to manage the company for me when I have a son," he said as he let go of some crocodile tears from his eyes.

I ended the call immediately. I didn't call to listen to his cry. I hope the old man does something about it quickly.

I needed to feed my eyes with the view of the beautiful street and wonderful skyscrapers around, so I came out at 7:30 pm and took a walk. As I approached a lonely street, I saw two ladies walking behind me. Their steps looked suspicious. I saw them from the dark screen of my phone when I wanted to take a picture of myself in my new environment. I rushed to drop my phone back in my trouser pocket.

One of the girls had blonde hair and the other black hair. One was a bit taller than the other. Something crazy crossed my mind, but I waved it away. I did not come here to run after beautiful holes. They had exactly the same outfit — a bum-short and a tiny top that did not cover their navels. The top only covered their necks down to underneath their breasts.

I raced my steps when I was sure that they were after me. And they did the same too. The tension became real. I had only gotten here a few hours ago, and my first stroll was already a bad one.

"Was this another of Guyong's plans?"

But thank goodness, I soon saw the police as they drove quietly around the empty streets.

"Hello!" I screamed, throwing my hands in the air. They soon sighted me from a short distance and drove towards me.

"Some ladies are after me!" I snapped, looking behind me to be sure that they were still there. But they stood facing each other as if they had been discussing.

We walked closer to them, the police interrogating them. He didn't even ask them why they were after me. He only told them that the streets could be dangerous for them at that time, telling them to stay safe.

"Please man. As you can see, they are just some random club girls who do not even have the time to chase after anyone. If you see someone chasing you, please do not hesitate to call the police. We are only a step away. Good night!" he said and drove off.

I looked back again, and the girls were still discussing just on the same spot. One of them glanced at me, our eyes locking before she moved her gaze away.
