In this world, since anyone could sense, absorb, and manipulate aether, that means the power system should be quite high.
For example: Even a beggar could, in reality, be someone with one core, or even more. Although no person with a core should be a beggar.
For this very reason, for Kael, forming a core was a necessity, not an option, just one more reason to have as many cores as possible.
Kael had come to a conclusion: the more cores you have, the faster your aether absorption rate will be.
But herein lies the problem: to achieve a new core, you had to increase your absorption rate, which could only be increased over time, making it impossible to form a new core as soon as you formed one.
If the rate of ether absorption could actually be calculated in numbers, and if there were a table representing the absorption rate required to form a nucleus, then it would be like this:
[Absorption Rate by Nucleus]:
[0 Nucleus: Rate: 10]
[1 Nucleus: Rate: 50]
[2 Nucleus: Rate: 100]
[3 Nucleus: Rate: 200]
[4 Nucleus: Rate: 400]
[5 Nucleus: Rate: 800]
Kael lay in his cradle, ready to form his first nucleus. Kael knew he was ready to form a nucleus because he could no longer absorb any more ether. Apparently, there is a limit to absorption. That limit would be broken when he formed his first nucleus.
«The book said I should channel the ether into my body, condensing it at a specific point and condensing it as much as possible while continuing to absorb the ether, thus forming a nucleus» Kael thought.
A maid left the room, going to prepare the wooden tub with hot water, leaving Kael alone.
The time they were preparing his shower was by far the longest it took them to return.
Kael wasted no time; he sat in the Indian pose, placed his wrists on his knees with his hands open, palms facing upward, and closed his eyelids.
He focused all his attention on feeling and absorbing the ether, channeling it into his body, condensing the ether he absorbed and the previously accumulated ether.
Kael continued condensing the ether, as much as he could, more and more. The more he condensed the ether, the more stable his heartbeat felt.
The nuclei could be located anywhere in the body; that point would be permanently strengthened.
So, Kael decided to strengthen his heart, simply because it was the part of the body responsible for blood circulation.
Kael finally felt that his core was almost formed, continuing to absorb and condense.
Until it finally formed.
Thus, his first core was formed, at just over a year old.
His second great achievement in this life, besides being born.
Kael stopped absorbing ether, feeling his heart pump blood more strongly into his body.
Now he had to see what his new core was capable of; he had to test its range.
He quickly channeled all the ether he absorbed into his core. It could store two to three times more ether than all the ether he managed to accumulate in his body. Once inside his body, ether could be used without limits, unlike the absorbed ether, which was limited to how much it could use based on how much it could absorb.
Now he could use the ether accumulated in his body and the ether stored in his core. After filling his core with ether, he quickly channeled it throughout his body and condensed it.
A feeling of euphoria swept over him. In this state, he truly felt like he was in another body, a much healthier one. His brain was strengthened. He felt a cognitive boost, experiencing the world around him with much greater vividness.
The brain is the organ responsible for perceiving the world through the body's five senses, thus receiving information from its five senses.
But this sensation didn't last long, as his strengthened state only lasted a minute.
It had taken about 20 minutes to refill his core with ether, and now his ether reserves were depleted.
«I need to learn to use ether more wisely» Kael thought, sighing at how short-lived his euphoria was, as he continued to absorb the ether present in the atmosphere...
Until he felt a subtle connection with it. It seemed he had an affinity with an element.
«Could it be the element of air? That wouldn't be bad,» Kael thought.
Kael was already imagining its uses: flying through the skies, cutting off someone's airflow, manipulating fire, or even launching condensed blades of wind.
In reality, the elements had many uses. A clear example would be: Someone with a fire affinity could keep a flame burning indefinitely, as long as they channeled ether into the flame and constantly absorbed it.
To manipulate an element, they had to be in contact with it, then channel the ether out of their body to come into contact with it, manipulating it according to his imagination.
It really didn't make sense to channel ether out of his body without an affinity; it would be a waste of the absorbed ether. Kael had only tried it once before, and when he saw that he couldn't condense it outside and the ether was just wasted mixing with the ether in the atmosphere, he didn't do it again.
But now it was different. He had an affinity with an element; he had to learn how to use it. And he seemed to have an affinity with the wind element.
And since wind was an element present almost everywhere, Kael channeled the ether outward, imagining a gust of wind enveloping his body and making him float. After imagining it, he tried to condense the ether.
Kael failed. The ether mixed with the ether in the atmosphere, and no gust of wind could make him fly.
—It doesn't make sense— Kael, exclaiming, incredulous at this fact.
«I did just as the book says. I definitely felt a connection with the wind» Kael mused, trying to come to a conclusion
«Or not? Perhaps the connection I felt wasn't with the wind, but with space itself» Kael thought.
Kael's eyes shone with an intense, unknown emotion. Since coming to this world, he had become much more emotional. Perhaps it was because he was free from the monotony of the earth, but it wasn't such a bad change.
