(The scene changes to a high school in the same city, in a Class 12 classroom. A girl with short hair is sitting on her best friend's desk, chatting.)
Ruby: Hey… what date is it? Wait— isn't your birthday coming up soon?
Fiona: Oh yes, it's the day after tomorrow.
Ruby: So, what's the plan?
Fiona: Umm… maybe… I don't know.
Ruby: Since you forgot my birthday this year, I'm giving you a challenge. Let's see if you can accomplish it.
Fiona: Okay, Miss Ruby, let's see.
Ruby: You have to invite ten of our classmates to your birthday party. Everyone must come. If even one person doesn't show up, you lose.
Fiona: Hey!!
Roy: Fiona, here are the notes you asked for.
Fiona: Thanks.
Ruby: Why do you always interrupt us?
Roy: It's not my fault that you both have such a ridiculous number of stupid conversations.
Ruby: You…! (Fiona cuts her off.)
Fiona: Hey, Roy, would you like to come to my birthday party?
Roy: Of course! When and where?
Fiona: It's the day after tomorrow at Town Square at 6:00 in the evening.
Roy: Okay. (No hesitation.)
Ruby: How can you say yes so easily? When I asked you to help me with the group project, you refused!
(Roy ignores her and goes to his seat.)
Ruby: So rude.
(The teacher enters, and class starts.)
(That same day, during recess, Ruby and Fiona are in the canteen—Fiona drinking coffee and Ruby eating chocolate. Suddenly, a boy approaches Fiona.)
19th Century: Umm… Fiona? (Hesitant) Can you tell me about yesterday's work? I was absent, and no one is helping me.
Ruby: Bro, chill! Who cares about work?
(Fiona gives her a death stare.)
Ruby: What?
Fiona: I'll give you the work. By the way, would you like to come to my birthday party the day after tomorrow?
Ruby: Him?! (Surprised)
19th Century: Yes! Thank you! (Happily)
Fiona: (Whispers to Ruby) I just want to complete your challenge.
Ruby: But him? Really?
(The next day, Fiona manages to invite ten of her classmates. After school, as Ruby and Fiona walk home…)
Ruby: Why did we get the math answer sheets today? I just barely passed! (Upset)
Fiona: But I aced both! (Proud)
Ruby: Both?
Fiona: Your challenge and the math paper.
Ruby: It's not over until tomorrow. Let's see how many actually show up. (Annoyed)
Fiona: Hey! Don't even think about skipping, or I'll kill you!
Ruby: Well, that's a great idea. (Teasing)
Fiona: Hey!! (Playfully)
