Compared to anything he might find inside the house—scrolls, records, or lingering chakra signatures—the training grounds were far more valuable to Ishiki.
If he remembered the manga correctly, Minato Namikaze's training area was pretty isolated, with nothing around it but a lone wooden cabin.
Konoha wasn't that large for a shinobi village. Remove the restricted zones, and finding such a secluded place shouldn't be difficult.
Still, before renting the house, Ishiki figured he should let Renge know.
He had enough money for rent—no issue there—but if he didn't give her a heads-up, she'd probably chew him out for weeks.
"Isn't our place already under construction?" she asked.
Ishiki didn't wait until the end of his shift. He caught Renge during lunch, in the hospital staff room, surrounded by other Medical-nin.
He'd done it deliberately. He was carefully building up his "Fourth Hokage superfan" persona. That way, his obsession with Minato's old house and training spot wouldn't seem suspicious.
It would also help justify his later plans to seek out the First, Second, and Third Hokage's training sites. There were plenty of Hokage fanboys in Konoha—being one more wouldn't raise any red flags. It might even win him some points with Hiruzen.
Renge was surprised, but after a brief pause, she asked, "You got one in mind?"
"I heard from Old Lady Ōtsuki that the Fourth Hokage's house is up for rent," Ishiki replied, hiding nothing.
Everyone in the room turned to stare at him—not because he was renting, but because of what he wanted to rent.
Minato's house? Already up for rent? Was it because of the housing shortage after the Nine-Tails' attack?
"You admire the Fourth Hokage that much?" Renge asked, both amused and helpless.
"It's close to the hospital—makes commuting easy," Ishiki said matter-of-factly. "And even when our new place is finished, it'll still take time to furnish and settle in. I don't want to stay in the staff dorms forever."
He wasn't lying. The dorms were cramped and uncomfortable. And given how much both of them earned monthly, there was no reason to live like that.
"Alright, alright. Whatever you want," Renge chuckled indulgently. "After our shift, we'll go check it out."
"Knew you were the best, sis."Ishiki beamed, laying it on thick. His flattery was polished—he had a sister in his previous life, after all. He knew how to butter them up when it counted, even though she was his cousin, it's just the same really.
After work, the two of them walked to the address given by the old woman. With her help, they easily contacted the property manager.
A middle-aged woman—not a shinobi—led them through the house. The place had long since been cleared out. It was essentially a blank slate; everything would need to be furnished from scratch.
"If it weren't for the current housing shortage, this place wouldn't be going on the market so soon," she said, a bit wistful. Still, she seemed pleased with the siblings.
"It's fine. We'll take it," Ishiki said after a brief inspection.
He didn't care about the house itself.
What mattered was that Minato Namikaze once lived here.
Once he moved in, Moody Blues would let him rewind and recreate anything Minato had ever done in this space—training sessions, jutsu practices, even conversations. Be it powerful ninjutsu… or village secrets.
They signed the contract, paid up front, and spent the evening cleaning. Move-in would be tomorrow.
The house had two bedrooms—perfect for them. They split the rent, though Renge wanted to cover it all herself. Ishiki insisted otherwise, arguing that he made his own money now.
Later that night, after parting ways with Renge, Ishiki went out alone.
He wandered the edges of the village—and eventually found it.
A lone cabin, just as he remembered. There was a clearing in front, recently maintained.
It wasn't near the site of the Nine-Tails' rampage, but…
Standing there, Ishiki felt it—the sensation of being watched.
Subtle, almost imperceptible, but unmistakable.Eyes were on him.
This had to be the Fourth Hokage's training ground.Likely the place where he'd fought Obito that fateful night.
Ishiki didn't push his luck. He didn't get any closer.
He turned around and walked back into the village.
Only once he stepped into the populated streets did the watchful presence vanish.
Yeah. No chance I'm getting in there anytime soon, he thought, frustrated.
As for the First and Second Hokage, Ishiki had tried sniffing out clues in the past few days.
Nothing.
Their traces had clearly been scrubbed clean.
"If only I had Underground World (Underground Surveillance) as a Stand…" he muttered. As powerful as Moody Blues was, it wasn't perfect.
The next day after work, Ishiki and Renge moved in.
Moving was easy. Most of their possessions had been lost during the Nine-Tails attack.Everything in their new home was recently purchased.
That night, Renge cooked a full spread in celebration.
Kurenai, Might Guy, Hayate, the now-recovered Chinatsu, and a few of Renge's friends came over. Laughter and chatter filled the house late into the evening.
It was the kind of peaceful life Ishiki genuinely liked.
In the days that followed, Ishiki refrained from using Moody Blues.
He didn't know whether Hiruzen was monitoring whoever rented Minato's house—but just to be safe, he'd wait a bit longer.
November 5th.
Twenty-five days since Ishiki arrived in this world.
Konoha was slowly recovering…But on that day—war returned.
After weeks of border skirmishes and infiltration, Kumogakure officially launched an assault on the Land of Fire.
On the front lines, shinobi of both nations had already begun to clash once more.
Ishiki had a bad feeling.
He wouldn't be on the sidelines for long.
Soon, as a Medical-nin, he would be deployed.
But he'd done well. In the time he had, he'd prepared everything.
That night, no more hesitation.
Confirming no one was watching, Ishiki pulled the curtains shut—and summoned Moody Blues.
The timer on its forehead blinked to life, counting backward.
He didn't know exactly what moment he was searching for, so he input parameters—certain gestures, movements, and keywords tied to training and jutsu usage.
As soon as Moody Blues detected those triggers, it would stop and perform a reenactment.
It worked faster than expected.
Within a minute, the time dial froze. Moody Blues began to morph—its body shifting into the precise form of Minato Namikaze.
And Ishiki knew immediately: this was from the night of the Nine-Tails' attack.
He saw Minato placing Naruto and Kushina in a safe location—then flashing away using Flying Thunder God.
Just as Ishiki suspected, Moody Blues skipped past irrelevant segments, going straight to Minato's departure motion before using the technique again.
Ishiki's eyes locked onto the Stand's movement.
His own pupils had already shifted—blood-red, triple-tomoe Sharingan, active.
Moody Blues didn't just replicate Minato's appearance—it mimicked his chakra flow exactly.
But then—suddenly—Moody Blues froze.
Mid-motion. Mid-technique.
And Ishiki… tensed.
