CHAPTER 5

When she closed the door after we left, she suddenly spoke, "I'm going to take you to your room so you can rest— just eat first," she said, and I followed her walking. I was just behind her and quietly looking at the paintings hanging on the walls.

"You look like him—the features of your face and your eyes just like her," she said. I was just confused by what she said. Is she talking to me? I asked myself as we walked down the corridor.

We could hear every footstep on the tiled path, we were the only people in the corridor, and she stopped in front of the big wooden door, she waited for me before she opened it with her two hands, the big chandelier appeared before me hanging from the ceiling, long tables and chairs, many kinds of races were looking at us when we entered the room, which I think is their dining hall.

Napuno ng bulong bulungan ng pagkapasok namin sa loob.

Some greeted Elizabeth and called her teacher, while others bowed whenever we passed their tables.

We sat at the end of the hall, where the high officials were sitting. They were just looking at us while we were sitting at the table. "Is he the one who is referring to the boy whose blood is poisonous?" A man asked Elizabeth, as I thought he and Kiera's sister were the same age. No, they are almost exactly the same age.

"Tila napapaisip ka" natatawa niyang saad sa akin

I didn't answer him. Elizabeth motioned for me to take the food that was lined up in the middle of the hallway. I hesitated and looked at her. "Don't worry, the food here is not poisonous; the food here is just like what you eat where you come from— if you see any blood there, it's in the bag, and it's animal blood, not human blood," she explained. So I stood up and approached wherever the food was placed. It was almost that difficult to choose from so many dishes, but I chose from so many that I only took the ones I was familiar with—I hesitated to take meat because I didn't know what kind of meat was served.

When I got back to my seat, they were looking at me. "What kind of races are you?" asked the man who had been looking at me silently for a while. "I don't know yet." I answered him and took a bite of my food. "Let this boy eat before you ask, right, Kenji?" I looked behind me when someone suddenly spoke. The old woman earlier was smiling, looking at all of us sitting at our table. "Helena" another man greeted her, "Reid, you're back." The old woman answered him, and she sat on my side seat.

"Kakarating ko lang kanina" The man answered to her, "The bloody moon is coming soon." A woman suddenly spoke from the side. The man wiped his mouth before speaking. "It looks like the newcomers are going to join, isn't it?" he asked and looked at me. I frowned. I looked at them because I had no idea what they were talking about. "Don't mind them, just eat first so you can rest later," Elizabeth said to me as she held me on my shoulder. I nodded and ate, and I just quietly listened to their conversation while finishing my food on my plate.

When I finished emptying the food on my plate, I stood up to get water. As I approached the table, I saw someone drinking blood from a hospital plastic bag. They were looking at me while sucking it in front of me, and I felt nauseous. I looked at them, it looked like the food I ate was about to come out while I watched them enjoy what they were drinking. I quickly turned around and went back to my seat.

"Tapos kana ba? Ang bilis mo naman yatang uminom ng tubig," Elizabeth said to me when I sat down in my chair, "Can I have your water?" I asked her, and she smiled and nodded. When I drank the water, my throat still seemed very dry, and I was restless in my seat as I looked back at the table where the blood bags were— "Are you okay" Elizabeth asked me, and I looked at her and didn't say a word. Her eyes widened and she whispered to me, "Take a deep breath and close your eyes." I couldn't understand her, but I did what she told me—"I'll take Kenji first to his room to rest." she said goodbye to those at the table and helped me stand up.

"Hey, what happened?" Elizabeth asked me as she helped me to walk. I opened my eyes a bit and I could no longer smell the smell of blood. "I don't even know what happened to me." I answered her

"Come on, and I'm going to take you to your room." When I got back to my senses, I moved away from her a little and she started walking ahead with me.

"For now, this is your room, there are many races who want to kill you," she said to me and opened the door to my room. "This room is empty, so this will be your room now," she said and took me around the room. She opened the big closet, it was full of clothes and uniforms. "Take a rest, I'll talk to you tomorrow, if you need anything, just knock on the next room, that's my room," she said. I nodded and thanked her, she smiled, and then she came out. I immediately locked my door when she got out.
