Chapter 8 - Chapter 5 – The Unknown Immortal

Kael couldn't stop thinking about the figure he saw between the trees. It was night. The forests of Brussels were as silent as ever, but something felt... different.

Upon returning to the Comandos Base, he went straight to the communication panel.

The hologram of LIGA glowed in cold tones, and soon Mister's figure formed before him.

"I need answers," Kael said. "There's someone out there. An immortal. But… something's not right."

Mister stared into the distance for a moment before replying.

"We are aware of his presence."

"Then why didn't you tell me? How many more are there like me on Earth? How many immortals are walking around?"

There was a pause.

"LIGA monitors what it can," Mister replied. "But the number of immortals on Earth… is incalculable. Not all of them are traceable. And not all share the same intentions."

Kael frowned.

"Why is he here, in Brussels?"

"Because you are," Mister answered.

"That's not an answer. Why?"

"Because this region holds something unique: the Portal of Portals. The Portal of the Pedra."

Kael went quiet.

Mister continued:

"When you were brought here, the portal connected to your essence was activated. It's not like the others. It's older. More unstable. And more… attractive."

"Attractive?"

"It draws others. Because when it activates, it triggers secondary openings. And when one portal opens, others open as well, across multiple eras of humanity."

Kael crossed his arms.

"And what happens if someone passes through one of these portals?"

"Some… die.

Others… return to their time.

But a few, the rare ones, cross and survive.

And those become like you: Immortals."

Kael narrowed his eyes.

"So you don't control it. You don't know how many there are. And you can't stop it."

Mister remained calm.

"Exactly."

"And this one? The man in the forest? Is he a threat?"

Mister sighed.

"No. He's a bluff. A friendly immortal. No danger. He's just observing."

"But you didn't know he was here… did you?"

The hologram flickered slightly.

"We didn't."

Kael stared into the empty space.

Something had started to crack in his trust with LIGA.

And maybe… this was only the beginning.
