Hiruki Kurosawa's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm as he continued to explain the intricacies of Divine weapons. "There are many ways to awaken your Divine weapons. It can either be emotional distress, such as when a Grim hunter is in danger, and their weapon senses the danger, therefore awakening to protect its owner. Some Divine weapons, however, awaken automatically without any form of bonding. Sometimes, simply calling out your weapon can awaken its power."
Crinix's pen moved swiftly across his notebook, jotting down every word. "So, if the Divine weapon isn't awakened, a Grim hunter can't use any Divine techniques?" he asked, his brow furrowed in concentration.
Hiruki nodded, a warm smile spreading across his face. "That's correct. Okay, then, that concludes our lesson for today. But before you all go, I'd like Crinix and Takahishi to meet someone."
Hiruki strode purposefully across the room, his footsteps echoing off the walls. He reached his desk and slid into the worn leather chair, the creak of the chair the only sound breaking the silence. With a swift motion, he pulled the old-fashioned landline phone towards him, the cord snaking across the desktop.
His fingers danced across the keypad, the soft clicks of the buttons the only sound as he dialed a number. He waited for a moment, his eyes fixed on some point across the room, before speaking in a low, hushed tone.
The conversation was brief, and Hiruki's words were indistinguishable to the others in the room. He listened for a moment, his expression unreadable, before responding with a curt "Yes."
With a swift motion, he replaced the receiver, the phone settling back into its cradle with a soft clunk. Hiruki's eyes narrowed, his gaze drifting back to Crinix and Takahishi, a hint of a thoughtful expression on his face.
Crinix and Takahishi exchanged awestruck glances.
A few minutes later, a knock on the door broke the silence. The door swung open, and a woman with long, flowing purple hair entered the room. Her bright purple eyes sparkled behind her glasses, and her dark blue dress seemed to shimmer in the light. Sliver and gold bracelets adorned her right hand, and she carried herself with an air of quiet confidence.
The purple-haired woman's eyes sparkled with amusement. "I got your message," she said
Hiruki's face broke into a warm smile. "This will be your incantation teacher, Shizuki Moriyama, She will teach you everything you need to know about Divine incantations."
Shizuki Moriyama's gaze swept the room, her eyes lingering on Crinix and Takahishi before coming to rest on Crinix. She walked towards him, her movements fluid and graceful.
"What's your name?" she asked, her voice low and husky.
Crinix's eyes met hers, and he replied, "My name is Crinix."
Shizuki's eyes widened, and she stared at Crinix as if she had seen a ghost. "That name... this boy... it can't be... that's impossible..." she whispered, her voice trembling with shock.
The room fell silent, with all eyes on Shizuki and Crinix. Takahishi's brow furrowed in confusion, and he leaned over to whisper to Crinix, "What's going on, Crinix? Why is she reacting like that?"
Crinix's face was a mask of calm, but his eyes sparkled with curiosity. "I don't know, Takahishi..."
Hiruki's voice broke the silence, his curiosity getting the better of him. "What is it, Shizuki? You seem troubled."
The purple-haired woman turned around, a faint smile on her lips. "It's nothing, I've just heard that name somewhere before." Her eyes lingered on Crinix for a moment before she turned and walked towards the door. "I look forward to working with you both," she said, her smile growing wider.
With that, she left the room, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions. Hiruki's voice echoed through the room, "Okay, then, class dismissed."
The other students had already started filing out of the room, their chatter and laughter filling the air. Takahishi breathed a sigh of relief, glad that he had made it through the day.
But his relief was short-lived. Niski Narukami, the blue-haired student, rose from his chair, his eyes fixed intently on Crinix and Takahishi. His face twisted into a fierce scowl, his teeth gritted in anger.
Takahishi's eyes widened in fear as Niski approached them, his fists clenched at his sides. Niski's eyes seemed to bore into their souls, his gaze intimidating and menacing.
Takahishi took pulled his chair back , his heart racing with fear. "C-Crinix, I think we should get out of here," he stammered, tugging on Crinix's arm.
But Crinix remained calm, his eyes locked on Niski's. "I don't think that's necessary, Takahishi," he said, his voice steady.
Niski's scowl deepened, his eyes flashing with anger. For a moment, it seemed as though he would lunge at them, but then he seemed to regain control of himself. With a final, piercing glare, he turned and stormed out of the room, leaving behind a trail of tension and unease.
Takahishi let out a shaky breath, his eyes wide with fear. "What's wrong with that guy, Crinix? He's seriously creepy."
Crinix's expression was thoughtful, his eyes still fixed on the door. "I don't know, Takahishi, but I think we're going to find out."
