The two of them were surrounded by darkness, and it took a moment to get used to it.
Niley, however, moved naturally to the bed and gently pulled the person on it into her arms, causing a small shiver in the one she held.
Mier only whispered softly, calling her "Wife," which immediately made Niley frown in displeasure.
"Call me by my name—Niley."
But before Mier could even speak, Niley leaned in and silenced his words with a kiss.
Her hands started wandering all over Mier's body, igniting waves of warmth that made him arch up in response.
Niley moved in a rhythm that rose and fell, but just as she had quenched her thirst, Mier trembled again, back straight, eyes red at the corners, looking at her with watery eyes. She almost gave in again—but the next second, he passed out.
Niley blinked. That was... a bit sudden.
She leaned over, used her powers to check him, and, seeing he was okay, let out a sigh of relief. Then she carried him to the bathroom to clean him up and dry his hair.
Using her wood-type powers, she tidied up the messy bed before finally lying down to sleep with him in her arms.
The person in her arms smelled just like her—fresh and fruity from the shower gel. Soft and warm, perfect to hold on a winter night.
She fell asleep soon after.
Early the next morning, Mier woke up first. Seeing Niley's face so close startled him, and the memories of last night rushed back, making his face burn.
Would Niley think he was shameless?
And how useless was he—he actually fainted from how good it felt last night. Would she be upset with him?
As he was thinking, he felt the hands and legs around his waist tighten, pulling him closer.
"Wife!"
He called out in surprise.
Their bodies were pressed so close under the blanket that he could feel they were both completely bare. But his skin was clean and dry—she must've bathed him after he fainted.
His cheeks reddened again. A moment later, he started to feel regret.
What kind of husband lets his wife take care of everything—including bathing him?
He quickly covered his face with both hands. So embarrassing!
"Sleep a bit more, hmm?"
Niley noticed he was awake and pulled him back into her arms.
Finally, peace and quiet—she could sleep in!
"Grrr~"
The next second, Mier's stomach growled loudly.
Niley opened her sleepy eyes and looked at the flushed-faced Mier beside her. Even as he blushed deeply, he softly called out, "Wife~"
"Hungry?" Niley asked teasingly.
If she hadn't been worried he couldn't handle it, he'd probably have been hungry in the middle of the night already.
Mier shyly nodded.
Niley was about to get up, but Mier quickly grabbed her hand. "You rest a little longer, I'll make breakfast."
Seeing how energetic he was, Niley couldn't help but pout.
Looks like she's been too soft on him. At this rate, people might think she's the weak one!
Still, she did need to help Mier build up his strength. If he fainted again, it could be serious.
"Your clothes are next to the bed—put them on before going out."
Following Niley's gaze, Mier saw a neatly folded set of clothes, similar to yesterday's but in a different color. Warmth filled his heart. In just two days, he already had two new outfits. He hugged Niley tightly. "Wife, you're so good to me."
"I'm good?"
Mier nodded firmly.
Niley gently lifted his chin and gave him a light kiss. "Then you better train your body more, one time isn't enough."
As Mier's face turned bright red, Niley let him go.
They'd already done the most intimate thing between husband and wife, yet this little guy was still so shy. She'd have to help him get used to it.
After watching him leave, Niley lay back for a bit.
But now that she was fully awake, she couldn't fall asleep again.
And since Mier had just gone through such intense activity last night, even though she'd healed him with her powers, she still felt worried. So she got up to check on him.
In the kitchen—
Mier tried to copy what Niley had cooked the day before. When Niley entered the room, his blush came back even though it had just faded. Still, he kept a calm face. "Wife, you're up."
"How do you feel? Any discomfort?"
Niley looked him up and down with concern.
Mier tilted his head, confused. "No, I feel fine!"
Much better than at home, at least. No beatings or yelling every day.
Niley sighed. So she'd worried for nothing.
"Wife, is something wrong?"
Mier asked as he kept working. When Niley tried to help carry the hot pot of food, he quickly shouted, "Wife! It's hot!"
But it was too late. Niley had already lifted it—and it was really hot. She quickly covered her fingers with her powers and rushed to place the food on the table.
Mier hurried over and grabbed her hand. "It's red! Next time, let me handle these chores. You're a woman, you're supposed to be delicate. What if you got hurt?"
Niley frowned. "Why would I be delicate? This is our home. Shouldn't we both take care of it?"
She pulled her hand away and walked out of the room.
Mier was stunned by her words. That wasn't how it worked in his family.
His mother only cared about drinking, gambling, and hitting people. Since he could remember, his father and brothers were always either being beaten or forced to do endless chores. She never did anything herself.
Even most women in Zhukeng Village were like that.
How lucky was he to have someone like Niley?
"All done!"
Niley came back with the rest of the food and looked at Mier, who was still standing there in a daze. She ruffled his hair. "Eat up. After this, go take some to your father."
She grabbed a corn cob and handed one to Mier as well.
As he took a bite, something felt off.
Too much happened yesterday, so he hadn't noticed it at the time. But now he realized—it was just early spring. Where did this fresh, sweet, juicy corn come from?
He cautiously looked around the room. The more he saw, the more shocked he became. Still, he stayed quiet and ate.
Niley kept an eye on him while eating, and when she saw how quiet he stayed, she silently nodded in approval.
She let out a breath of relief.
It was impossible to hide her powers from those close to her. If Mier was smart, he'd know how to handle it.
If not… even if he was hers, she wouldn't show mercy.
"Village Chief! It's my son's good wife! She broke my arm last night! You have to stand up for me!"
