Chapter 5 - 05

"You have poison inside you."

Zora tightly gripped Sean, not allowing him to move forward. Sean couldn't resist her strength. Upon hearing her words, he was immediately stunned.

He turned back in disbelief and asked, "How do you know?"

Zora glanced at his wrist. "I diagnosed it."

"You understand medicine?"

"A little. This poison is troublesome," Zora nodded honestly.

"Let go of me," Sean said irritably, shaking his hand.

"Then don't leave. It's not easy for me to meet you. I want to talk to you seriously."

Zora released her grip, and Sean coldly sat back down in the chair.

"I wasn't doing it on purpose last time. How about this? To make up for it, I'll detoxify you, but this poison is serious. I need to take a good look."

As soon as Zora touched Sean's wrist, her wood-based ability surged. The poison was powerful, maybe even deadly. She thought for a moment. Wood abilities were the strongest healing powers, so they should be able to cleanse it. She'd need to circulate through his body to understand it fully.

"No need," Sean sneered. "Unless a legendary doctor exists or if there's a Tian Shan Snow Lotus, I won't be able to cure this poison."

Zora scratched her head in frustration. After the apocalypse, many people begged her to heal them with crystal cores in hand, but this was the first time someone had come to her for treatment. She didn't know what to do.

He was from a well-known family, famous for his good reputation. How could he have been poisoned so badly? Thinking about what her uncle said about his situation, it seemed really difficult.

But this man's personality was truly bad!

"Give me your hand. If I'm not confident, I won't treat you."

Sean remained unmoved.

"Hey, isn't your family matchmaking for you? You're so outstanding, with a bright future ahead. Don't you want to stay with your wife, have children, and live happily ever after?" Zora wasn't very good at comforting people.

Sean was both surprised and angry, snapping, "I have no intention of getting married. Besides, my reputation is ruined. My life won't last long."

"I can cure you. I've wronged you, so I'll save your life. We'll balance out the good and bad. As for your reputation, it's beyond saving…"

"You want to marry me?"

Zora looked up timidly.

Sean found this woman completely unreasonable. He had really lost his mind today to endure this humiliation.

"Miss Zora, if you've finished, I'll take my leave. It's inappropriate for a man and a woman to be alone together. Others might gossip," Sean said, standing up and preparing to leave.

"You're impossible! I'm offering you treatment, and you refuse. I want to be responsible for you, and you refuse that too. What do you want?" Zora stood up and pushed him back into the chair.

"Give me your hand, or you won't leave here."

Sean was taken aback by her boldness. The women who admired him were always polite and respectful.

Taking a deep breath, Sean was about to speak when Zora grabbed his wrist firmly.

"Don't move, and don't speak. Don't disturb me."

A warm sensation seemed to flow into Sean's body, making him freeze in place. His hand was gripped tightly, and Zora's position almost pinned him down, making him afraid to move.

The warmth seemed to calm his mind, and he slowly began to relax.

Zora withdrew her ability and was about to speak when she noticed Sean had closed his eyes, his eyelashes trembling slightly.

This man was truly stunning. Was he the reincarnation of a lash spirit? His eyelashes were so long they looked like a fan...

"This poison has been in your body for 14 years, right? It's a very poisonous chronic poison. It will kill you in 15 years. It seems you don't have much time left..." Zora stood up, releasing Sean's hand.

Sean wasn't surprised. He knew the poison was dangerous and that his time was running out. He felt a little disappointed but remained calm.

"But I can cure it," Zora said as she returned to her seat and sipped her tea.

"You can cure it?" Sean looked up suddenly.

Zora smiled mischievously. "I can cure your poison. Didn't you hear me? But your poison is too deep. I can't cure it in one or two tries. At least give me a month. I promise you'll be as good as new."

It wasn't surprising for Sean. He had always thought Zora was a notorious troublemaker. She said she could cure the poison; he just assumed she had heard about it somewhere and was trying to trap him.

But the warm sensation was real. What she said about the time frame was accurate. She didn't seem to be lying. Everyone wanted to survive; who would want to die young?

"Do you really think you can cure it?" Sean asked, still skeptical.

"I said I can, but it will take at least a month. The poison is too deep, and we need to act fast. Otherwise, I won't be able to help," Zora said seriously, noticing how serious Sean seemed.

"Do you need a Tian Shan Snow Lotus? I've been looking for it for five years and couldn't find it," Sean's eyes darkened.

"You don't need any expensive materials. Don't worry about those. Just follow my treatment plan for half an hour a day for a month, and we'll be fine."

"Really?"

"Really."

Zora muttered to herself (If I was at the peak of my abilities, I could cure it all in one go. But this weak body of mine, my energy is so low. A month is the best I can do. To cure this poison, I'll need to take a lot of medicine.)

"Thank you."

"If you really can cure me, then... forget about the things before," Sean said, looking at her.

Zora suddenly remembered something and quickly asked, "Then why did you come to see me?"

Sean was also taken aback.

He was a noble young master who rarely went out, only attending flower gatherings or poetry events. It was very rare for him to visit someone else's house like this.

They both fell silent, thinking. Just then, Mr. Jing walked over.

"Young Master Sean, I apologize for the lack of hospitality. To make up for it, we're having a banquet today. I hope the menu suits your taste…"

Mr. Jing returned to his seat and glanced at the two younger ones. The atmosphere seemed to have calmed down, and any misunderstandings must have been cleared. It was inappropriate for a man and woman to be alone together, so he had taken a stroll in the garden before coming back quickly.

Sean thought for a moment, stood up, nodded, and smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Jing."

Zora stared at him, still stunned. When Sean smiled, it was like a warm spring breeze in March. Even white flowers couldn't compare.

"Uncle, I want to eat meat and drink wine," Zora said, coughing lightly before standing up.

"Servant Fu, tell the kitchen to prepare some hearty dishes for Miss Bai. Also, bring out a jar of the wine the wife keeps hidden."

"Yes, Mr. Jing."

At noon, after finishing lunch, Mr. Jing stood up and escorted the two younger ones out.

Zora climbed onto her horse and leaned by Sean's carriage window, whispering, "I've thought of something. I'll come to your room to treat you."

Without waiting for a response, she flicked her whip and left.

Sean was left in his carriage, stunned...

This shameless woman!
