Cherreads

Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

She let out a small gasp as there was more than a little that had gotten on her dress, her chest and stomach nearly completely covered. Worry took over the waiter's face as he hurried to sit the wine bottle down, immediately taking the black napkin that sat on our table and handed it to her.

"I deeply apologize, are you alright? He asked, grabbing more napkins as she gently took them from him.

She nodded softly and gave him a smile, trying to seem calm." Didn't like this dress anyways" she said.

I could tell she was just trying to be sweet, given that the man had clearly made a mistake, and had no intention of ruining her dress. But she lied , I knew the dress she had on tonight held a great significance to her, because it was a gift from her mother who passed two years back. She loved the dress a lot. But she was just to sweet and kind to take her anger out on the poor guy.

" I deeply apologize. The wine will be on the house, and I will make sure to have a word with my manager. I am so sorry" he kept repeating the words as he handed her more napkins, his cheeks flushed red as he was greatly embarrassed.

She shook her head," It's fine, it was a simple mistake. I can just clean it up in the ladies room" my mother said before standing up and giving the man a gentle smile before turning on her heels and walking off.

The man slouched down before turning around after picking up the fallen glass and disappearing down into the hall, heading the opposite direction from which he came. I felt bad for the guy, although it was obvious that it was a mistake I wouldn't help but feel the same way he did. It was an honest mistake and I'm sure if he could have avoided it he would.

Realizing my mother wasn't here to fill my ear with unending chatter, my ears seemed to peak interest in other peoples conversation. I could here many people at once having discussions, some of casualness, sadness ,excitement. I could hear the cling of two wine glasses coming together, they must be having a toast. celebrating something or maybe just enjoying each others company on this beautiful night out.

It didn't take long and my mother shortly returned. Her dress was stained but she had a beautiful smile on her face. She takes her seat pulling her chair closer to the table as she flattens her dress and picks up the wine glass with little to no wine inside. Well might as well get a taste after all that drama. she says which makes me burst out a soft laugh. She always seems to see the positive in everything no matter what happens.

She laughs a little, sitting her glass down. Just as I am about to grab mine she takes it from me. I look at her giving her a confused look and she rolls her eyes. "Oh please , you're twenty one. Not old enough to drink" she says taking a sip of my wine while I role my eyes.

I wasn't much of a drinker, hell I couldn't even hold my liquor but I wanted to look grown and elegant just like everyone else did, sited on their tables. Everyone sat and were dressed in their formal attire, and although I did too, I couldn't help but feel that I was the youngest person here. And maybe I was.

My mother and I both turned our head to the fine specimen who approached us, his skin glistering against the light in the room, his green eyes peering down at us for a brief second before a charming smile formed on his face." Looks like there is no need to ask who the wine was spilled on" Fred came trailing behind him, his cheeks red as a rose.

" I deeply apologize for the accident this beautiful dress was involved in. As owner I'd like to pay for your meal tonight, and with your choice of dessert. And I would love to add in another bottle of our finest wine, if you would permit it" His Italian accent rolled of his tongue so smoothly.

My mother chuckled lightly, I think that's enough wine for the night , but I would love to accept the free dinner and added dessert. My beautiful daughter here who is of age actually asked about a chocolate dessert earlier" I immediately turned to my mother glaring wide eyes at her as she smirked at me.

The man softly turned his head to me, drawing my attention from my mother up at him, he squinted his eyes lightly before starring at me, his eyes boring holes into mine, before he spoke up.

" We have a delicious chocolate cake accompanied with chocolate and vanilla bon bon. there is a whole variety, just make your pick. I could see the dimples on his cheek form as he spoke to me.

I nodded." Could I have the cake and bon bon?" I asked and he nodded.

"And for you, ma'am?" He asked turning to my mother who offered a smile." I'll just have the same thing she is having for diner, but no desert for me please. " She said.

The man nodded at Fred before he turned and walked away.

He turned back to us, before speaking out again." Once again I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience." He pulled a black card outlined with gold out of his shirt pocket, as he handed it to my mother." Your next dinner in this restaurant shall be on the house".

He reached into his inner pocket , handing me a similar card, except the colors were inverted, it was gold with a black outline. "And you as well, please enjoy your meal. "he said before turning to leave. I could swear that he looked at me in a way as if having ideas run through his head.

I swallowed hard as I watched him turn away, his backside giving a beautiful sight I won't be forgetting soon. He was so manly, his shoulders large and his hairline was so neat as if he had just gotten a haircut.

My gaze was quickly drawn back to my mother, when I heard her clear her throat, the little smile on her face evident as she snapped me out of my trance." O dear child your drooling. But not as much as he was" she handed me a napkin with a grin the stretched far across her face.
