Chapter 14 - Galen's Introspection

Galen was thinking about his process of dispelling the witch doctor's hex. He clearly remembered all the feelings he had after being hexed.

The hex lasted for at least 30 seconds. Omar and Varokal thought that their prince had dispelled the transformation by relying on treasures from the royal family's collection.

Only he himself knew that he originally had no chance to dodge Drek'maz's battle axe, and he even thought he would die on the spot.

According to the knowledge of mages circulating in the human world, those who are hit by a witch doctor's hex or a mage's polymorph spell will have their intelligence reduced.

In the caster's own words, using similar polymorph spells on any creature to turn them into animals changes not only their appearance, but also their brain structure. Turning into sheep and rabbits makes them want to eat grass, and turning into frogs makes them want to eat insects and other animal instincts.

When Galen turned into a frog, his intelligence was reduced. He kept wanting to stick out his tongue to catch flies. It was originally impossible for him to control himself and use the frog's body to dodge attacks.

The reason he was able to wake up and then autonomously dispel the hex was because of the Origin Heart.

At that time, he felt the Origin Heart in his mind actively emit a wave for the first time, with a bright blue light. Then, Galen vaguely seemed to hear a mechanical electronic sound.

"Detected that the host has been invaded by alien energy, threat level: low.

Querying for a removal plan:

One, use the magic immunity body of the Magic Destroyer, which makes you immune to any magic after use.

Detecting this plan, you have already been hit by a transformation magic, currently unavailable.

Two, use a priest to dispel all magic effects on the host.

Detecting the plan, untrained priest, no research on priest master training, requires spending 470 gold coins to purchase the right to use this skill."

At that time, Galen was affected by the activation of the Origin Heart and immediately woke up, which allowed him to dodge Drek'maz's attack. Then, he decisively spent 470 gold to use the dispel skill, which allowed him to dispel the hex unexpectedly and kill Drek'maz.

Galen didn't expect the Origin Heart to have such an alarm function. Moreover, judging from the content of the alarm, he could also use the passive magic immunity. In the future, would he be completely unafraid of similar transformation spells, fear, deterrence, and other alien magics applied to him?

He wouldn't even be afraid of spell damage. Then he could be half a spellbreaker, wonderful, please call me Galen, Mage Bane, instead of Trollbane.

Another guess is that, after the base is fully developed in the future, with complete technology for all unit types and buildings, will he be able to use all the skills of the trained units?

This is not impossible. He just spent 470 gold coins to use a dispel skill. The reason why the price was so high may be because he had not built a building to train priests, nor had he trained any priests.

However, this guess can be tested now. Galen took Varokal's shield from the side, then focused his attention on his mind, connected his mental power to the Origin Heart, and tried to convey to the Origin Heart that he wanted to use the shield defense, this infantry skill.

"Shield Defense is currently unresearched, current usage requirement: 300 gold."

Galen opened his eyes with a look of surprise. Sure enough, he could use the skills of the units.

Three hundred gold coins is twice the cost of researching shield defense. It may be because it hasn't been researched, so the usage requirement is very expensive. If the skill has been researched and units have been trained, will the usage threshold be much lower?

Galen felt that the possibility of this new guess being correct was very high. There is no need to rush now, he can slowly verify it later.

Afterward, he reflected on his performance in this sneak attack battle.

Although it sounds good that he killed the most trolls this time, and even the two strongest professionals among the trolls were killed by him.

But Galen knew that this was thanks to Omar and Varokal. They restrained most of the attention of these two trolls, and he was just stealing the kill by trickery.

Moreover, he made two fatal mistakes. The first was abandoning his two guard leaders, jumping and charging far away from the two, leaving the optimal distance for their cover, and almost died from the sneak attack of the troll Drek'maz.

The second was getting carried away in the battle. Witch Doctor Hex'jin and Drek'maz were both top figures among the trolls, good at seizing opportunities. He was once again hexed during an advance, which invisibly allowed the two to cooperate perfectly. If he didn't have the help of the Origin Heart, he might have died at the hands of Drek'maz.

If he wants to change his destiny and change the future of Stromgarde, he has to live.

After reflecting on his mistakes, he must remember to stay calm next time, not to be greedy for success and advance rashly. As long as he stands, he is outputting. To live is to win.

In short, stay steady and don't be reckless.

While Galen was still wandering in his thoughts, after an unknown amount of time, Omar had already completed the sorting of the troll supplies with three soldiers.

Omar came to Galen's side, preparing to report the situation to Galen.

Galen was interrupted from his current thoughts by Omar's footsteps. He looked up at him and asked, "Is it over, Omar?"

"Yes, Your Highness. The troll supplies have been sorted out. The main items are some newly tanned leather, fresh raptor meat, as well as some raptor eggs and a few cubs. The remaining items are giant spider venom sacs."

After listening, Galen thought for a while and instructed Omar: "We will take all the leather and raptor eggs back with us. We will also try to take the cubs with us. After all, we don't know how to take care of and tame raptors, so whether they can survive depends on their luck. We can use the meat that can be recognized as raptor meat as food during this time. Throw away any meat of unknown origin."

The Witherbark trolls have a history of eating human civilians from Stromgarde. Although they are not as crazy as the Vilebranch trolls, who would capture trolls from other tribes as rations, they are not picky about humans. Galen doesn't want to eat meat of unknown origin that he can't tell what animal it is.

"Your Highness, those venom sacs should be used by the trolls to make their holy medicine. The Witherbark tribe's Day of Sacrifice is approaching."

Galen understood what Omar wanted to say with his reminder. Although Galen had not dealt with the trolls on the border, he had learned about it from the royal family's collection of books.

The Witherbark trolls have been fighting Stromgarde for thousands of years. It can be said that both sides know each other very well. Stromgarde's population is far larger than that of the Witherbark tribe, so the Witherbark tribe has always been at a disadvantage. When the Stromgarde army launches a large-scale campaign to eliminate them, they enter the continuous Alterac Mountains. When the Stromgarde army withdraws, they come out of the mountains again.

The current Stromgarde King is a hero warrior, who can be said to be the pinnacle of mortals. The Witherbark tribe has been able to persist for so long under the offensive of Galen's father, Thoras Trollbane, relying on their Loa god:

The Spider God, Shadra.
